Why is logic drummer midi mapping sooo different to that in GGD. If anyone has an easier workaround please let me know, before I remap the whole thing 😂
One link is the mapping file, you can just load it into GGD from the mapping settings in Kontact, the other link is a session with the mapping pre-loaded
Legend, thank you so much! That is awesome. If I worked at GGD I’d suggest providing these to make the workflow easier for customers. The routing of everything is tough enough for hobbyists like myself 😂
Alright seriously, why is this the only video I seem to be able to find on this topic like, AT ALL haha. There's of course other videos about using the MIDI environment in Logic, which I've found now that I've seen this, but out of all the different MIDI instruments I've used over the years in all the different applications they've been used for, I've never seen this haha. And I took two years of recording arts classes while back in school (we didn't use logic though, I don’t even know if logic was available when I was in school) this is all awesome advice dude. I've been compiling a list of "videos that don't exist but need to" for a long time now trying to put together a solid list of topics to hit in the future. So good job man, for bringing this technique to light for all the people who are more into "real" instruments than MIDI, and therefore have probably never run across this little trick. I'd imagine in the EDM scene it's probably common, but out of the countless hours of metal production videos I've seen, this is definitely a first 👏👏👏well done. (Now just drop the green screen tactic for these videos haha no offense here, it's your choice, but I PERSONALLY think green screen stuff is pretty tacky/unprofessional, mainly because it's about impossible to make it look good, even for national news outlets and huge artists, and they're probably throwing $thousands at it. And you my friend, deserve more recognition, even if just for this video alone!)
Really useful. Struggled to get the new names to appear in the piano roll but it turned out I just needed to zoom vertically (15 frustrating minutes working that out!)
Thanks for this, man! question: is there a way to save that mapping so it's reusable in other projects, or do you just save that as a template, and always start with the template?
It should work the same, especially if they’re compatible with kontact but other plugins should function similarly. Just make sure the midi mapping in the environment matches what the plugin is expecting.
Just found this massive gem of a video, thanks for sharing, by the way, at 7:00 you double-click the drummer you created, which doesnt work for me. It just doesnt open a window to rename the piano roll, im using the current version of logic. Does anyone has advice for this? Huge thanks in advance!
For anyone having the same issue: You're prob. like me and flew over the video, and INSTEAD of creating a "Mapped Instrument" you probably choose a regular Midi-Instrument haha! As said before, massive thanks for sharing!
When you press the button I call the focus mode button, it collapses all the notes that are unused. If I haven’t written my best yet, I don’t want the mapped notes I made to disappear, but I don’t want to see all the extra notes that aren’t mapped. So I added muted notes so that I can press the focus mode button and only see my mapped notes
Should I still be assigning each instrument with One Kit Wonder Metal? I can't see the option to do so - wondering if this is just a limitation of the One Kit setup.
There are some differences with the one kit wonder stuff. I think it still lets you separate within the kontact routing, just be sure you’re using the 16xstereo version of the plugin
Hello Jonny. I am trying to route GGD Invasion in logic pro x. I followed the exact same steps as you mentioned in your video, but when I open the Piano roll, the mapping is still not displayed. Do you know what may cause this?
