Linda, Hi, First let me say I o joy your podcast. I get tons of inspiration from you. You are a loverly knitter and person. I thought Id give you perhaps an unusual look into my journey and learning how to tackle the very fun tasks of knitting, I find it joyous and exciting. I get that from you out of your content, thank you so much.
Intarsia honestly is not hard. Marley Bird has an Intarsia blanket step by step for a blanket thats very good,. She teaches both the RS and WS of he fabric, then learning it on a straight edge join or aslopped join will alter it a tad not enough for concerns. Also Suzanne Bryan and others have very good tutorials. I believe Arne and Carlos do as well. This sounds silly to many people but my second pattern was Intarsia. I was so new to knitting I hadn’t seen the fear people have at learning it. My first pattern was a two color chevron and lace baby blanket for my first grandson, by Pink Knits. My fears were non existent to them, sometimes not having information is helpful. The more I watched videos on instructions for increasing and decreasing. I learned of peoples fears with brioche and I had fear of short rows from listening to various videos. I certainly didn’t need to be fearful of short rows. I love German short rows. Brioche Ive experimented with. I get confused as soon row 5. No clue why. I haven’t picked that shawl up for a year. Now that I’m knitting sweaters and fitted items after finally understanding gage etc. Im curious it seems when you swatch you typically do it flat? For me i find my gage in the round is so very much different than flat, so you might want to try that.

Love the podcast!!! When you swatch add 4 rows of garter stitch on each side so your swatch is enclosed in garter stitch. It keeps it from rolling and it helps get a better swatch.

I very much enjoyed your podcast - first time seeing it. I hope you do continue to dhare about the Master Knitting Program. I do consider joining it myself. Maybe not this year, as my goal this year is to knit 12 sweaters in 12 months. Already I feel behind due to some unforeseen circumstances. But hoping to get back on track and finish sweater #3 by the end of the month. The bigger challenge for me is learning to edit video so I can podcast about it. I did put up my first story, which can be seen at Yarn Tales by Kit. I love the name of your podcast!

Thanks for another fun and inspiring podcast Linda. I bought the cocoknits books a few years ago and I’ve made a few of the sweaters. I love her method. I did a year long knitting Bootcamp with Suzanne Bryan last year, she is a master knitter and always encourages people to join this guild. I’m not sure, but I think your purls are bigger than your knits, which is why the row gauge is off, and you are rowing out, which just means your tension isn’t even. We had to do many swatches in Suzannne’s class and I learned a lot. I’ve thought about joining the knitter’s guild, but I think I’ll wait awhile. I just want to knit right now. I’m sure you will learn a lot and your knitting will really improve. Good for you. I love all your new cast ones by the way. Great job and I love the colours.

I have done one sweater and it’s not bad at all, I crocheted the stitches and then I also did sew it in my sewing machine. I purchased some ribbon and hand sewed it to cover up he ends. I am so glad your channel popped up in my feed today. Sitting with you is like sitting with a dear friend and you speak with such positive clarity. As I was watching (while knitting an infinity cowl) I was hoping you'd say something about the beautiful sweater you're wearing (well, besides that it has a stain on it, which honestly I didn't notice at all). I immediately went to Ravelry and printed out the pattern. You're so right about keeping a binder....if I see something I like I print it out because who know's if it's going to be available later? Thank you for telling us about Cocoknits; I'm going to check them out also. Lastly, it's always nice to connect with a fellow knitter who is in my "neck of the woods"; I live in a rural area northwest of Olympia, WA, USA and have a lot of family who live in and around southern BC where my great-grandparents lived. You're almost to 5K subscribers so count me in as another.

I just found your podcast and it’s so much fun. This past weekend I had to measure my yoke before separating for sleeves and I wondered if I should use the back with the short rows or the front because the pattern didn’t say. I picked the front so hopefully it will still work out. That’s the nice thing about knitting, I guess I can rip it out and redo if necessary. I think it should be good but I’ll check again after I knit a bit longer since I’m only 2 rows past the sleeve separation.

Hi Linda, sweater number 14B my advice would be before you go to far with the front, go back to your blue one and count the roes from under your arm up to where the shoulder joins and work out your stripes from there. Hope that makes sense so basically count up from the armhole towards the top and make sure your front starts where it needs to so they both make it to the arm hole in the same colour stripe. I would camp wearing silk mohair!!! Life is short so do it well 💪🏻🤭🤣 swatches lie!! First, I found a great deal on some already washed & ready to go alpaca floof locally....THAT interaction led to me also buying a Newcomb floor loom from the same gentleman (another AMAZING deal! as he was moving overseas & getting rid of a lot)...THEN, I finally got a spinning wheel! I have since gotten 3 more contractor bags of alpaca fleece (this batch is not pre-washed) but I have yet to learn to spin & have not assembled the floor loom 😭😭😭. I really need to find a local spinning guild & hope to find a group as welcoming as the one that you found (& also find the time with my job where I am now having to travel out of state every month) Wish me luck! Congrats on your debut Spinning journey!! I fell down that rabbit hole this past autumn! I had bought an electric Eel6.0 and then decided I needed a wooden wheel so I bought a Schraft Lady Bug wheel and I LOVE it! Soooo relaxing and fun. I’m self learning by looking at podcasts! I’m so interested in your journey so please keep us informed!! It takes practice and I’m doing that willingly!! Sending you hugs from Virginia!! ❤ Angela

My choice was between the Lady bug and the Kiwi - loved them both. I will also be practicing gladly…. Just put it together this week so should be able to report a bit about my progress on the next episode - theoretically - lol. Happy spinning and knitting!🤗

Hi Linda, first who wouldn’t want to stay for the chatter?😁 I will be joining the Mable Kal as well. I am going to Stitches West this weekend to pick out yarn! Hoping Julie will be there in person. She doesn’t have her own booth anymore. She pops in A Verb For Keeping Warm. Her LYS. They will have a booth this year. I made the Toni cardigan a separate pattern. The Lizzie cardigan from the book. You did a great job explaining. I always recommend Cocoknits. The process can be overwhelming. But if you go step by step. You will learn so much! The fit is perfect. I carry techniques into other patterns. Especially bust darts. It’s amazing and I do not have a large bust! If you add extra stitches under the arms and side seems. It’s just not the same as an invisible bust dart. Excited to see what you think. Love your podcast ❤️

After you do your steek, you will appreciate this tip more. When setting up a steek, its typically an odd number of stitches, so you have the same number of stitches on each side of the cut. Next time, make that center stitch a purl-i.e. a five stitch set up would be to knit 2, purl 1, knit 2. By doing this you create a clear runway for cutting.

If you add vinegar to your pre-rinse, add it to your blocking water. It may be the pH of your water that is causing the bleeding (not necessarily excess dye). I’m not a dyer and I’m sure there many people much more knowledgeable. I speak from personal experience because my tap water is basic (pH higher than 7).
