Ohh Linda what a heart-filling episode! I just loved every minute. I realize that by the time I’ve sent this message you’ll be in Spain and/or Ireland. That’s a lot of travel time to knit all those dream socks. Thanks for showing that Francisca Cowl! Perfect gift knit 👌🏼 The trip to the Netherlands with your mom and sister and meeting your new “sisters” was so fun to hear about. You have a joyful flair for LIVING LIFE and I find it so inspiring.
I wonder if you watch the It is a Sarah podcast as she is Dutch and does them in English and Dutch twice a week usually. Thanks for your podcasts too as I always enjoy your knitting, travels and music. Keep going ❤
Ahhh, linda,,that was Lovely,,, All the yarn goodies,, And UR trip,,wow ,Nice needing Yarnie friends,,,and going g to Stephens shop,! Thanks do much, Love UR mom's chat,, Elaine🍁🎃🍁
Linda this was such a great podcast. I love your Mom. I love that she’s traveling and going on a cruise by herself. That’s just so awesome. Thank you for sharing your family trip. I loved seeing all the photos and I can’t believe you didn’t buy any yarn at those shops. Everything on the shelves looked so beautiful! Have fun in Spain and Ireland and bring back some footage so we can live vicariously through you. Rachel S.
Thank you for not only an inspiring knitting podcast but for sharing your travels to Holland. I thoroughly enjoyed all of it. Kathy in Green Bay, Wisconsin🧶❤️
Hi Linda, how exciting to see my country through your eyes! You took lovely pictures and footage and I enjoyed seeing you having fun with my friend Loes. They really spoiled you and your lovely mother and sister, and you deserve it for all the time you take to make this lovely vlogs for us. I live near Delft and recognized the little canals and we could just like that have run into each other at the market! Maybe next time, I am looking forward to your next adventure, happy knitting, love from Heidi, the netherlands
Hello Heidi!! Sorry for the late reply… just working through the jet lag!. Thank you for the kind comments and you are correct… we were completely spoiled by Loes and friends. I am already using the project bag and tulip needle minders- love them. Delft was amazing and would definitely spend more time there. When I return I would love to meet up and knit over a coffee🤗. Thank you for watching❤️
Hi Linda What a beautiful sweater you are wearing. So nice to see you with your mother. I think it's great that your mother is still so enterprising at her age. Nice to see my crafting friends in your vlog. It looked like a great day. Love Adriella🐻🌸🩷
Nice to meet your Mum. I have dutch heritage. My g.g.g. Grandfather Gerrit Miedema from Oenkerk, Friesland. He jumped ship in Melbourne 1851 to go to the goldfields. Some of his siblings emigrated to the States/Canada. So I have distant cousins somewhere there. We stayed at Burdaard on a canal with boats passing. It was lovely. I want to go back to the Netherlands and see Amsterdam properly.
Your Mum is lovely Linda. Now I have to go back to Amsterdam and surroundings. I love it. I was there for 3 days in 2018 and went to Stephen & Penelope's 3 times. Big stash to bring back to Adelaide, South Australia 💐🥰
So many things I enjoyed in this podcast! Your Sweater #14 with your mods is so perfect and I love it when a scrappy project looks so balanced and the colours look like they were made to go together! And that Stripes! sweater is a dream knit too.... and and and lol I want to make that shawl behind you and the Aurora Cabin Shawl you showed in the footage near the end. Omg I could go on and on lol. Lovely footage of your mom and Classy too 😍. Thank you for the reminder to MOVE more whilst knitting!
Fun as always. I love your striped sweater, the podcast started and I thought you looked so lovely, skin, hair and sweater were radiant. What a lovely trip you had 💕 I love Guylian chocolates, my hubby brings them home when he shops a little too often 🤭🤣 Happy knitting, Karen ❤️🇦🇺
Love the fact that you watch Jude. I, too have purchased 'Not my Cat' and 'The Stranded Elf'. I am currently casting on Hermione's Everyday Socks in Jude's Transcendence. 😀
Thank you for enjoyable podcast. Love the segment with your Mom and pics from the Netherlands. Safe travels in upcoming months…living vicariously through your sharing stopping spots during your travels.
WOW Linda!!!!!! This was such a great episode, your mom such a treasure and you are so talented at putting together a great videography of your trip with your mom. Outstanding!!!! I was disappointed that you missed out on purchasing yarn over there because of the dilemma of not wanting to duplicate your existing stash. You can ALWAYS have 2 similar yarns and different style garments! But here is an alternative solution: If you run out of sweater or shawl inspirations you can knit socks! One can never have enough socks and they won't break the bank! At the very least you can knit up the socks as your trip keepsake to be reminded of trip highlites. I noticed one shop you recorded had Qing Fibres sock yarn. I discovered this yarn I purchased on Simply Socks, and I can't wait to knit up socks in this yarn. It is GORGEOUS!!!!! The gal that dyes this yarn is the VanGogh of the yarn dying kingdom!! Very gifted. Also noticed one of the shops you visited had LITLG (Life in the Long Grass) yarn. I knit my very 1st pair of socks last year in this remarkable yarn and I treasure them! The bags were a huge hit, your cousin so talented! I just purchased a couple weeks ago some cute bag fabrics/supplies from ETSY to venture out and try something creative to dabble in with my sewing skills, and your new bags were loads of inspiration!!! When you go to Ireland, maybe you can visit LITLG and record the visit for us 'Armchair Travelers!' Your family is stellar, thank you for sharing them! How fortunate you have them to reach out to! And the Netherlands are exquisite- what a wonderful destination! I could keep going on about your action packed episode but life is calling now. Have a great week and I'm looking forward to your next episode. YOU ROCK! Carrie from Northern San Francisco Bay Area😘❤🐕🐑☕🧵🪡🧶
Hi Carrie! Thank you for the wonderful comments. Yeah- I should have bought something! Serious regret. That said… have you progressed at all with a business name? No pressure- lol… just excited for you ❤️
Loved all the footage of your fabulous trip to Holland, especially the segment with your beautiful Mom. Thanks for sharing Linda, always a pleasure to watch. 🤗
I love your pictures and films of Nederland ;-) hahaha yes Nederland is not that big, I think you can get throug it in about 5 maybe 6 hours from the most distant points if you're not stuck in a traffic jam. I dont know what picture or painting you've seen of Sint Nicolaas (Sinterklaas) but Sinterklaas has nothing to do with Christmas at least not in the Netherlands.(maybe you could say it's his brother(from another mother ;-) ) or nephew. We celebrate Sinterklaas at 5 december. It's a celebration for children. I think that wiki wil have a nice explantion about it. Your dutch pronounciation is very well ;-) I love your scrap sweater, such lovely colours together. I hope you both have some nice travels and trips, Ireland is also stunning and a cruise in the caribbean oh wow .........
Thank you so much for watching! You are absolutely correct about Sint Nicholas… given my Canadian Dutch up brining I have always blended the two… in a December podcadt I just might expand on,and clarify, that tradition .❤️🤗🇨🇦🇳🇱
I’m so jealous of your trip!! Both of my parents were born there and it’s my dream to go and explore my heritage. We have kept many Dutch traditions but I’d absolutely love to someday see where it all originated. ❤ I just ordered my first Row One shipment!!! I have debated for a couple of years but I finally bit the bullet. Can’t wait!!!
Thank you for watching Tracy! If you Get the chance you Will love it… lots to be proud of 👍 and sooo pretty. The People are wonderful as well❤️. If I enabled the Row One purchase in any way… Sorry- Not Sorry?😂😂😂 mine is all goi g into my beloved granny stripe blanket… it will be stunning! Happy Knitting.
I loved this podcast. Thank you so much. Currently on my needles is the April Cardigan in Fiori hand-dyed merino - Tortoiseshell - it's so pretty and it is a lovely cardi pattern. Hi from Australia 🇦🇺
What a wonderful podcast! Thank you for sharing your trip highlights with us 😄. Loved seeing your Mother’s excitement on her face as she talked about it…what a lovely woman…🤗🧶💗
Linda. I love the idea of 10 gram mini sets from Canadian yarn dyers. I wanted to order both of the skeins from Stranded but was unsure of the shipping and duty pricing. What a wonderful tribute he did for his Mom and for Not my cat. Your sweater looks so cozy and comfortable. Love it!
Hi Linda, I am pretty sure nettles, come from nettles, not thistles. I am going to look up timber yarns, love those socks, and I am interested in the nettle yarn. Hope you enjoy your Stephen West knit along, my pick was 6, too many to chose from, all lovely, like the grey a lot too, hope you are knitting on your ✈️.
OMG… you are soooo right… why did I think Nettles And Thistles were the same thing??? Will correct on the next episode- lol. Thank you and happy knitting🤗
I completely understand what you mean about The Hague. I worked there for twelve years, but it is not attractive. I do love Leiden, where I was born and raised. I love your sweater and your pumpkin. And what a good cause, the skeins you bought. 🥰😘
Great podcast again. Always look forward to your podcasts. Nice to see you Mum, I’m also in my 80s and my children also comment that they need an appointment to catch up with me lol.
Dear Linda, it gives such a warm feeling seeing the photos and video of our day in Amsterdam again.🥰💕It indeed was ‘sisters from other parents’ all day long and I loved meeting you and Clasina and enjoyed it very much to spent the day with you. We really have to plan another trip (Barcelona Knits next year?😂🤣). And wow, what an amazing skeins did Patrick choose for your socks, the colours are so beautiful. Your Manos cowl is gorgeous, it looks very warm and cozy. Both mom’s and your plans for the coming months are amazing! Hope you all will enjoy it and your mom is ‘een kanjer’.🥰💕 Till next time, dear sis.💕😘
What a lovely podcast, Linda. I can't believe how many socks you have to knit. Whew!! Your trip with your family sounds like a fabulous adventure to reconnect with relatives. Your mom is quite impressive!! I was in Stephen and Penelope in April and bought yarn for one of his shawls. I could not miss out!! I haven't made it yet, but I will.
