Bannerlord Tactics: Epic Sieges, Volume IV: Double Your Pleasure (HIGHLY unique Castle defense)

- Alright fellow Tacticians, it's Epic Siege Saturday!
Welcome to our Epic Siege series: These videos feature some of the most massive, chaotic and sprawling siege defenses in Bannerlord ever shown on youtube. Our hardy group of seasoned warriors will join the militia forces of various cities and castles across Calradia as we try and beat back the hordes of enemies storming the gates and scaling the walls in what should be awesome, chaotic and extremely difficult siege defenses. I have started saving a select handful of the most intense sieges from my various campaigns and side series for this series and I think they'll be entertaining as hell as we try advanced tactics and use our brains AND our brawn to thwart our enemies. Subscribe if you want to see more. My goal is to share at least one per month, but probably every Saturday for most or all of the Summer.

My campaign is an extremely late-game campaign where I am resolved to give no peace to these scum Kingdoms attacking me - seven of the eight have been at war for years, with only Sturgia at a neutral stance. My family of warriors is now large though and with what remaining strength and valor we can must, we stand against the map of Calradia.

Lord Retinue Uptier(Makes the enemy forces stronger, much less peasants and lower ranked troops)

Improved AI Troops(Also makes enemy lords and their armies tougher by giving them a higher daily xp rate. This means you'll routinely face armies with HUGE numbers of the highest tier units, sometimes four or five times the normal amount in vanilla Bannerlord): www.nexusmods....
Death for all: This mod allows you to set the rate at which nobles die more often. I want both a harder challenging late-game but also a more realistic game. If you're cut down with a massive aserai two-handed axe, you shouldn't just be injured 99.9% of the time. It's a very customizable mod so you can just a little more death or set the death rate so high you get several deaths every battle. The number I often like is '10', some deaths but not a massacre of nobles...

I also use the Dismemberment Plus Mod: It's highly customizable and works seamlessly with the new beta(and versions back to 1.28). I thoroughly recommend it if you enjoy carnage!:

I've also used Realistic Battle Mod in the past and highly recommend it for Ai and battle realism BUT I find the pace too slow for my taste and the AI is actually rather predictable after a half dozen battles. Still I wanted to put a plug in for it here, it's a GREAT mod and highly configurable. www.nexusmods....
Much of the music and inspiration for this and other videos in the channel are inspired by Epic History TV - probably THE best channel on youtube(and the internet for that matter) covering the Napoleonic wars. With amazing work Epic History TV takes you through the dramatic and incredibly story of Napoleon covering all of his most famous battles. I HIGHLY recommend it.

@@trevorhunt9358 Yeah I've known about that long before but apart from a few instances, it seems like it was mostly used as a liquid, sprayed fire. Still, you're right, it is a close analogy.
Just to preface, I’ve been playing mount and blade since 2008, many iterations and mods, but I gotta tell you, I’ve watched a couple of your videos and I have been very entertained 🥳
My tactics usually end up over world, from cracking warbands economy making food too expensive for everyone to hiring all the good troops and throwing them away in fire and sword so my enemies were relegated to shit armies 😂
In bannerlord I’m slimy and tricksy, often working against who I want to work for so I can cause problems behind enemy lines, like buying up all the food just before they get sieged and leave the kingdom then join the army walking at the town haha. Or in a large battle, sign up for the enemy, take the lords out of action, abandon the battle, often breaking it up, then signing up for my allies again to crush leaderless troops 🥲 That was my “All is for the Empire/solo Senate” play-through. I didn’t have to be strong, just betray people.

I love the idea that you're both roleplaying and playing out a guerilla warrior, something that has been effective through REAL world war history and it should parallel well to Bannerlord...Sometimes it's good to be bad. 😡

I am no more than an experienced schemer, willing to take control of an unit and calling for retreat so the battle is lost, but less so in tactics, I have splitting units and flanking shield walls instead of hitting face to face and the trusty hammer and anvil, that’s about it. Oh and ranged on high ground 🥲 I hope to learn more 🙌🏼

I think Vlandia has some of the coolest castles and towns in the game
Agreed BUT their cities are HARD to defend, some of the hardest.
@@HeadlessHorsemanProductions I will have to try to get a defense over there, so far on my playthroughs once I conquer Vlandia it seems like it just never gets attacked

@@jaynizz582 No question the best castle is the VERON castle style. Fortunately it's duplicated in probably 10-12 Imperial castles, so it can be used all across Calradia.
Not really related to the video, but to use a 2 handed polearm (like a long spear or a glaive) do you need 2 handed skill or polearm skill?
Yeah to use a two-handed pole arm you must have pole arm skill not two handed skill they don't stack.
I enjoy the commentary, you should think about upgrading your mic. It doesnt even have to be high end
I continue to look into this. Not sure how 'portable' it would be as I often play/stream in multiple locations... We'll see, but thank you for the feedback!
How do you get that many javelins? From the looks of it you use 3 weapon slots of javelins for 35 javelins, but when i look at javelins they have 5 stack amount at most.
There are loot items that drop that have what are called large bags of javelins and they have seven then once you add in all of the perks you can get a huge amount of total javelins especially if you run with three stacks of large bags

Good battle. Unfortunately I don’t have square formation right now and there is two breached walls on the castle I’m trying to defend from a sturgian siege
Why no square? Console?? You NEED it and flank the side with archers and skirmishers to stop a huge force in a castle with holes in the wall...
@@HeadlessHorsemanProductions yes I’m on ps5. I haven’t upgraded to square formation the most soldiers my guy can have is 275
What do I need to make this game harder.. after watching your videos I’m crushing 2000 troops with my 300.. yes on Bannerlord difficulty. 50% damage on my guy but I don’t really fight just command and clean up guys retreating.
Maybe I should use fian champions anymore. Idk.🤷
I found that Beach area on one of your videos where it funnels everyone into one ally.. lost 34 and killed 1036.. crazy battle. Guys are just too weak. 😢
Games getting boring.
Add the Lord Retinue Mod listed in the description and that should make enemy armies MUCH stronger. You can edit it so that lord armies acquire 4x the exp so their troops are elite... THAT should make it much much harder... Goodluck! (and it's a good thing you're crushing it but obviously you need MORE of a challenge lol)

I run a mod called Keep Your Daughters. If you want to marry the women of my clan, you have to join my clan, not the other way around 😂.

everytime i defend a siege, it does not give me prep time. just automatically thrown in. are you on steam?
Are you the kingdom leader? That might be the problem. I use steam to download the game but nothing else.
