I think your ideas are great, but I also feel like you don't have any reference for how much dev work is involved in adding even a shortlist of the things you are talking about. I would estimate the time required to add the bulk of what you're suggesting would take 5x the man hours of what has already been invested to make the game.

One of my biggest complaints is how the devs barely tried to make lords and their armies act like a ‘real’ army with a goal in mind. They mindlessly call in a 2000 man army to chase down enemy parties of 30. They wage war on kingdoms when they’re already being attacked on multiple fronts. And someone on Reddit had the audacity to defended the AI saying “it was historically accurate since most lords were petty angry drunks who were uneducated”. Some people in the community are the reason why Taleworlds is getting away with a half finished game because they’re excusing it.

I joined Battania and purchased a town a few days ago. It was my only fief. Battania was down bad. They ended up losing their last fief, minus my town, right after I purchased the town. I proceeded to recapture all the Battania towns and castles with only my party. I didn't get put on the ballot for any of the places I solo captured. Being a bit tilted, I left the kingdom and made my own. I recruited a bunch of the Battanian clans. Then I steam rolled Battania with my Kingdom "New Battania". The vote never had me on the ballot again. Should I just execute them all or AITA?

@axiomsofdominion Paradox? I'd say paradox makes games that are both wide and deep. Look at victoria 3 for example, or the many mechanics in eu4 or heck, even imperator. Ck3 is literally paradox's biggest game after eu4. I'd compare it more to bethesda.
Taleworlds is state funded. That tells you all you need to know about the dev team.

@axiomsofdominion I would agree with CK3 with it being more of a make your own adventure rpg and the simplest game. But with Stellaris it mechanics that combine and interact and allows you to make intresting combos though I do worry about feature bloat. Vicky 3 is complicated that I don't really like it but it's there. AoW 4 is just civ with more mechanics. I do think Paradox games main problem is DLC creep and it being huge mountain for new player.

Bannerlord could have been game of the decade. The hype was there. Warband set the foundation. But the devs refused to finish the game, released a half baked version, excused it with "being early access", then proceed to launch the game in pretty much the same state. And they now just hope mods fix it.

    • @Th1sUsernameIsNotTaken

It had no chance when they pushed it back a million times, and then started removing nearly everything they said was going to be in the game.
Remember when Generals/lords were all supposed to have different tactics? IE some would ALWAYS want to charge at you, or be aggressive, some would want to poke at you, play defensibly, etc. Yet they all play the same basically.
Every village/castle was supposed to be able to be turned into a town. They say they got rid of this for balance reasons, But I'm almost certain they just couldn't figure out how to make it work.
The worst part is many things about it are just flat out WORSE than Warband. While Bannerlord does do some things right, some of the features they decided to not bring over from Warband already knock it off of being the game of the decade.

In the only game ive ever gotten to endgame content with in an attempt to actually win, ive been stuck in a death war against Vlandia and they just spam out 1.5k peasant armies to continuously wear me down, and they just keep fucking attacking varcheg and seizing uthelaim castle. The only problem is, I cant sign a peace with them because they only offer 'pay me 9k per day and ill fuck off' while completely ignoring the western empire which is actually on their border. That and the absolutely atrocious system of convincing ANYONE to defect regardless of if youve totally destroyed their kingdom or not honestly made me quit.

I have 150 hours and couldn't name a single non-faction leader NPC. The game's combat is IMO quite good, I like that they kept it easy to learn while also rewarding you for mastering it similar to in Warband, granted I don't think there's as many ways to "abuse" hitboxes as in Warband, then again I haven't really tried to get good with the combat like I did with Warband (RIP almost 3k hours of my life) and have only limited experience in multiplayer so I can't say for certain.

Why I stopped playing this game after 50 hours of play was this problem, more or less. I played a diplomatic game somehow, I allied myself to the Northern Empire, but also managed to marry the daughter of the Empress of the Southern Empire when she decided to give her daughter's hand to the highest bidder, and I had a lot of money by that point. Still, as a son-in-law I was considered quite untrustworthy. I also, by the later years of his life, married my sister or daughter to the Emperor of the Northern Empire. So I was going quite nice and never got interested in the main quest. I became the next Emperor of the Northern Empire, due to my standing as a successful general, marriage alliances, etc. or the game just decided to do so, I don't know. The NE became the strongest all around, with stiff competition still. Then I did the quest, then it gave me 2 options. Leave to create your own kingdom, or give it to another leader... I am the emperor of one, can't give it to myself, if I do, I leave my empire to rule a single city... what? Or I give it to someone else to unite the empire... What? If I wasn't the emperor, I might have given it to them but... what? This is not poor writing, this is outright idiotic and as the game became repetitive by then, with such terrible storyline and quest system that ignores a probability as mine, I left it there...

In all fairness, the entire point of the questline is that calradia needs a drastic change. The empire must either go entirely or undergo an extreme and drastic reform, that cannot be done if youre already an emperor of one of the imperial factions, you are bound to abide by the hundreds to thousands of years of tradition that came before and as such youre doomed to make the exact same mistakes and suffer the exact same fate. Youre also expected to immediately do that questline and spend a significant portion of the game preparing to break away from a kingdom or steal one entirely, so that is on you for just outright ignoring the quest.
And even then, as emperor you can just force other lords to give you their fiefs, rally up an army of your most trusted lords and then break away from the faction, then promptly declare yourself the bannerlord and give them all the opportunity to join you or fall to your blade later.

    • @Khronographos
      @Khronographos 2 місяці тому +29

@@tobymarx-dunn2332 Surely they assumed so but in such a game you cannot assume when the quest needs to be done and a good storyline should predict that as the world allows that. If my character is not my character but the npc ruler of a country let's say, the banner could have been given to that him. Only not possible if I am the player character, albeit being in the same shoes of a leader who could be given the banner. It is contradicting with itself. This is weak storytelling, that is all sadly.

    • @Khronographos
      @Khronographos 2 місяці тому +5

@@jackofastora8962 Thank you for sharing your point of view, but I do not completely agree with that. If I, as a player character, can give the banner to one of the established regimes, it must also be possible to do so when I am one of those established regimes. If I am planning to recover the empire, why leave the large lands and power I have in my hand or give that power to someone else who are in the same status as I am? Doesn't make sense. The quest in no way forces or hints at me that it must be done right away. So no, that is not on me but on thinking how an open world works. This is lacking in this game, both in storytelling and worldbuilding.

But even then, RoT has so many custom factions, troops, and weapons that most roleplays can be done without MLB. RoT even has a built-in toggleable compatibility option for MLB. The core problems of the game are unmoddable because it's in the game's spine and I feel they are unfixable. I'll just keep playing Warband.

The companions feel uninteresting because unlike the old ones like Jeremus and Bunduk they all same and have almost no lore or connection to existing factions. İdea of endless companions that can die or multiply is good for gameplay but wish we had some deeper. More special companions that actually had a story.

I supported the original M&B way back in the day when it was basically just a couple people working on it while living hand to mouth.
Coming from that, my expectations are rather tempered and many might consider me to be among the folk that "let them get away with" not finishing the game.
That said, I'm still rather disappointed though perhaps for different reasons.
With the very first game, I was just happy with the concept and the attempt to bring it to life.
What really made the franchise an all time favorite for me though was mods.
Oh lordy do I love the modding community. This really blossomed with Warband in my opinion.
To me, Warband wasn't a game, it was a framework. Effectively, I got to play many many different games with this framework.
Mods are love, mods are life.
This is why I'm absolutely boggled as to why they have been so uncooperative with the modders with Bannerlord.
A few really dedicated communities making total conversion mods (shout out to The Old Realm in particular) are the main reason I've spent 90% of the time I have with Bannerlord.
What's a real bummer though is how it pales in comparison to Warband by this time in the life cycle. Like, count up all the good mods and add a zero behind it. It's an order of magnitude less.
This is squarely attribute to how Taleworlds has treated the modding community.
From early on it was apparent they really didn't want to deal with the modding community. Like at all.
Everything they've done to "help" modders has felt begrudgingly and half hearted.
Case in point is just updates. Game was "released" how long ago?
Yet updates aren't just mod breaking, they're mod shattering. Core mechanics get tweaked in absolutely trivial ways and it happens in spades.
It seems really clear to me and most people in the community that they're not going to get the base game to a satisfactory state.
The saving grace here could and should have been the modding community (like always, quite frankly), so I'm absolutely baffled and disappointed with how uncooperative and inconsiderate they've been.
Many beloved modders from Warband have said outright that this is the primary or even the only reason they aren't making a version for Bannerlord.
I get that all of this is rather meaningless to people who aren't into mods but there's a large portion of the community which plays M&B games that lives for them and man did they drop the ball here. The modding community doesn't ask for much cooperation, honestly it's mostly just about communication, really nominal effort on Taleworld's part. In return they provide a massive amount of fixes, improvements and content.
    Nope. Can't be bothered.
    Shame.

everyone seems to say F1 F3, it's a meme at this point, but F1 F6 works better, puts your army where you need it during the early stage of the battle. Your army AI identifies and immediately counters the tactics that the enemy army is going to be using. This allows you you to stay more immersed in the battle and make small changes to the orders if you see an opportunity to move or change your formations at different stages of the battle.

Honestly, that's the best way to enjoy battles. They do a lot of things that you can't. Just as long as it isn't another Lord that is commanding the army, because ho-lee, are they stupid. I once watched over 700 Sturgian infantry and 200 archers get crushed by 400 Battanian archers because the "special" commander decided to let the enemy archers "exaust" their arrows... by just leaving our units standing there while getting shot until there was maybe half the men left. Only then did he order them to charge. There was a forest between the 2 forces, so a shield wall would've been more than enough to counter the Battanians. Needless to say, it was a near complete loss. By the time our infantry reached their archers, they had already exhausted most of our top tier units, leaving mostly weakened or inexperienced troops, which their Fians made short work of.

  • @harpake
    @harpake 2 місяці тому +7

It's pretty incredible there's no co-op. For Warband I played a mod called Battle Time which allowed all single player battles to be multiplayer. So you would make characters for yourself and your friends and play the game. One player actually running the single player game and streaming it to others. Like a classic RPG party you would together decide what to do and play the game together. Then when battles came you would be able to play as your character in the battle.
I bought Mount & Blade when it was in alpha, this was before early access was even a thing. There was just a feeling of being awestruck by the fighting mechanics and open world even when everything was incredibly bare bones. You could just imagine how incredible the experience could be when fully fleshed out. You didn't expect it with the first title because well that was going to be their first game. But surely the sequel would build on those ideas and be what you could only dream about. Now many, many, many years later there's still no game that fully capitalizes on that potential. It feels like that era of possibilities in games is gone.

I spent so many hours on the OG mount and blade and warband once that came out. It was just a whole new thing back then that was combined concepts like Sid Meier’s Pirates and the total war series. You got the freedom of Pirates and the battles of total war, but you GOT TO ACTUALLY PARTICIPATE IN BATTLES. It was fucking magical and ultra addicting. I introduced it to friends and got them addicted.
That was just vanilla. Then I discovered mods like 1866 and Star Wars, which made the game just so much more replayable.
Bannerlord is good too but there is indeed a feeling of what could have been. I can’t go back to the old games due to how they aged, and while Bannerlord scratches the itch somewhat it’s still flawed. Still good enough for having fun though.
I had good memories with the series overall though so I’m happy with what Talesworld brought to the gaming world

Imagine if bannerlord had AI that could create dialogue phrases based on events that happen in your exact campaign, or that could write a detailed biography about your character in encyclopedia. Other thing is what if you could actually speak to characters, and they would generate answers using that AI. What if you could agree on something, or try to negotiate, promising to do something later, or explaining why you did this or that.
I think that the most enjoyable part of bannerlord campaigns is building your character's lore and if my idea could become true it would be a perfect game

The game should have player kingdom control and diplomacy. Alliances, non-aggression, trade agreements, relations between kingdoms, all from Warband but heavily fleshed out. But the game could also use kingdom control. You should be able to tell your kingdom which fiefs they should be considering in the war using a map, and should be allowed to set your kingdom to ideas like not taking fiefs in a war and instead doing defending and raiding.
Could have a slider for raid severity per war (remembered for that faction with the options of Avoid Raiding (Nobody raids except dishonourable + cruel lords with low relations to you), Raid Freely (Normal raid rules from vanilla), and Less Talking More Raiding (All lords except those with merciful 1 and 2 encouraged to raid). On higher raid severities lords will be more aggressive in hunting down villagers and caravans as well, with more intent to disrupt the enemy's economy.
Could also have a slider for army prevalence that determines how many armies your faction will try to raise vs. population, so you can have more lords raiding instead of every single one being in an army. Deciding how important it is to group up vs. smaller operations.
Kingdom defensiveness could also be a factor, determining how much your lords go out to raid or join armies vs. how many stay back to stop raids, as well as how far away they are willing to raid in enemy lands, maybe even forming small raid armies of 2-3 lords.
Those 3 aspects could also be reflected in other kingdoms to make them different:
Khuzaits could have much higher raid severity, neutral defensiveness, and lower army prevalence. Reflecting their nature as steppe raiders and nomads
Sturgians could have high raid severity, neutral defensiveness, and neutral army prevalence. Reflecting their relation to vikings but with their snowy advantage.
The Northern Empire could have lower raid severity, higher defensiveness, and neutral army prevalence. Reflecting their nature as the more diplomatic manipulation wing of the Empire.
The Western Empire would have higher raid severity, higher aggressiveness, and higher army prevalence. Reflecting their militaristic nature and leadership of generals
The Southern Empire could have neutral raid severity, high defensiveness, and high army prevalence. Reflecting their nature as the Empire still under the rightful ruler
The Aserai could have low raid severity, high defensiveness, and neutral army prevalence. Reflecting their mercantile nature and letting them use their desert advantages
Battania could have high raid severity, high aggressiveness, low army prevalence. Reflecting their nature as forest bandits in Warband, and being mostly disorganized
Vlandia could have neutral raid severity, neutral defensiveness, and neutral army prevalence. A true neutral all about itself, like the mercenaries they once were.

I had a blast playing Bannerlord in early access for 350 hours, then was disappointed to see that the official release added no depth to its bare-bones features. Everything great about the game is also fatally flawed. Having fun building and commanding your army? Well once you discover how OP archers are, you'll never need to use any other infantry type again. Having fun defeating and capturing enemy lords? Well, they will always escape to form new armies and if you execute them everybody will hate you, including your own allies. Having fun capturing towns and castles? Well, you won't get to keep any of them if your King decides to hoard them all for himself. Having fun conquering rival kingdoms? Well, nothing really changes because the lords of any kingdoms you conquer will just join another rival kingdom until they are all wiped out. Overall the Bannerlord experience is as wide as an ocean, but only as deep as a puddle.

With the morale part, it would be cool if enemy soldiers could surrender or route, but if you're reputed for being devious and/or cruel they only run. Give the traits value and many more ways to pursue a trait and maintain it.
Calculating at positives could buff your autocalc, open up options for delegating command strategies, and give a troop accuracy bonus.
Calculating at negatives could increase troop movement speed and handling, but make delegate command always follow an aggressive style.
Generocity at positives could improve the morale of your troops and increase clan village hearth rate.
Generocity at negatives could lower troop wage costs and improve clan village income at the cost of hearth rate.
Honour at positives could boost troop morale, improve your clan fief loyalty, improve non-criminal notable relations in your fiefs, and provide slight bonuses to recruiting all lords.
Honour at negatives could boost troop ranged damage, improve your clan fief security, bandits won't harm your villagers, but makes lords more cautious of joining you.
Mercy at positives could improve how many enemy troops surrender when the battle is won, reduce relation losses, and allow lords to surrender on the campaign map.
Mercy at negatives could make them always run, provide melee bonuses to your infantry, make troops chase faster post-battle, and debuff enemy morale around you in battle.
Valour at positives could buff troop morale in an aura around you, increase infantry run speed, and buff your troops in open terrain.
Valour at negatives could increase archer reload speed, improve troop missile resist, and buff your troops in rough terrain.
This could also open up ways to make your army YOUR army. Perhaps the game could change your troops to reflect the personality of your character with contextual voice lines as they follow your example, no matter how dishonourable, cruel, cautious, greedy, and hotheaded you are, they don't judge you but instead mold to that style. Cheeky remarks and dedication to your plan for calculating, impatient barks for the hotheaded. Light-hearted banter when stationary for the generous, plunder-related comments for the closedfisted. Respect for the enemy post-battle by the honourable, openly mocking the enemy mid-battle at low honour. Violent barks post-battle for the cruel. A ton of voice lines to add character to your army so your leadership feels like it is actually affecting the individual.
Barks could exist for different troop types to reflect the personality, weighted to the style such as more archer ones for the cautious and calculating, more infantry ones for the valorous and honourable

    ideas? so many:
overhaul the smithing and include a fletcher and bowmaker as additional warehouses for each of our cities where certain companions can be assigned to create culture specific arrows and bows (to own a workshop in your own city would require policies to be introduced, once enacted then a companion can be assigned to the workshop and depending on their culture would depend on the bows and arrows they make for us to utilize for our armies and upgrade as a specialist troop guard costing influence) this method of additional warehouses (once enacted) could also be utilized to include barracks and training grounds for our soldiers so when we drop prisoners off at the dungeon, those who would want to join our army from town prisons can be taken from the prison to the barracks which needs space and time to train our troops (as with prisoner upgrades within our party) we could also fully customise our soldiers as a specialist force in our towns mixing armours, weapons, horses, soldiers to create a specialist elite troops like a royal guard, for instance.
    successfully take a town.
have workshops as an additional project for each town
complete army workshop using the three tier system.
tier 1: workshop = training grounds, fletcher, bow maker, stables.
tier 2:workshop = warehouse available = barracks, training grounds, fletcher, bow maker. 10% faster training/creation when sergeant/officer is assigned to each workshop, barracks = hold 300 trained soldiers (culture bound, meaning that in order to improve/create any weapon, the weapon that the culture is associated too has to be present when making each weapon meaning f we truly wanted an ubermench army, we really have to travel to find selective workshop companions
tier 3:workshops = training grounds, fletcher, bow maker = 15% faster training/creation when sergeant/officer is assigned to each workshop, barracks = hold 500 trained soldiers, workshop available = royal guard workshop (royal guard workshop = take any soldier and customise them swapping out armours and weapons for each soldier gathered from a rally companion, horses can also be customised the same way and trained to receive pedigree stats with good buffs whilst allowing us to concentrate on the feed of the horses (oats, grain, rye, etc) which effects the horses stability from their own diet (expensive food costa a lot more, harder to find but give good stats for horses.)
rally companion, instead of traversing the land for soldiers, hire a rally companion to rally armies for us with the option to choose who and what soldiers they are to recruit. The rally companion cannot rally soldiers from kingdoms which are at war with us.
allowing us to customise our own royal quard army would truly be an achievement but have it tie to the system would bring sooooo many 1000's of hours of play for each person just customizing/crafting and fighting.
I truly do think this would revamp the game among many other ideas that the community has, maybe not for bannerlord 2 unless by an extreme mod, but for bannerlord 3?

I was legitimately one of the first 100 people to buy this game, as I was in the peak of a Warband playthrough when it was announced that there would be early access, and I bought it immediately. I agree with the overall critique offered in this video. I am a hardcore veteran of RPGs like Fallout 1 and 2 which completely changed videogames for me during childhood.
Through our patience and funding we deserve so much more as far as the creation of real meaningful Diplomacy without mods, more expansive quests, personality and relationships actually mattering, and voice dialogue. If Taleworlds was looking for talented individuals for thorough voice acting, I could definitely make some coin with this game.
I've done basically every playtype within Vanilla and am always hungry for more....
I recently installed some mods that I hope add a bit of depth if not roleplaying fantasy in my brain:
I recommend the Europe Lemmy Project, Board Games with Puluc with the Board XP addon, Arenas Extended Europe Medieval, Taverns Extended Europe. I hope to actually visit Europe one day and love playing as a merchant so I bought a physical journal irl and wrote down what I bought and sold from the towns in Europe as well as what I won in the tournaments. That Europe Mod introduces purchasable boats and galleys which make it faster to travel.
I'm loading the game as I type this, and downloaded the Huskur Brother, Sacha Sister, and Wheels of Time Armour mod. I hope it goes well. Cheers all!

At one point I got caught up in chasing down fleeing troops before I noticed I was losing men, as they were still fighting the battle.

25:50 They just need to shamelessly ripoff what Prophesy of Pendor did for Warband. Unique spawns with their own stories, invading factions, etc.
33:34 Bandit hideouts are mostly walking, too. They should just simplify it to a dungeon with "rooms" and encounters you get teleported to via a fade to black.
37:50 Some of the Perks don't even work at all. 15% of them are bugged to either not work or work differently.
    40:48 Good idea.
42:05 Scouting and Medicine both have OP Party Leader perks, so they are worth skilling into. The only problem is that like you said, you can't get to the part where they matter.
45:30 I disagree with locking out a good deal behind walking and loading into a town's worth of 3D models.
46:45 This is the biggest problem with Bannerlord.

    • @HarryO_Possum

A big issue with skills, in my opinion, is that you can't reliably raise a lot of them. There isn't a training mechanic or anything like that. Want to improve your tactics? Invest points in it. Want to improve medicine? Assign yourself as a party surgeon. Want to improve Engineering? Assing yourself to party engineer and put yourself in a position where you are able to actually use the skill, which are few. What, I can't learn by observing and helping my Surgeon? My character's little sibling can't learn how to trade by observing *me*? Combat and Smithing skills are straightforward enough, but everything else is a nightmare to rank up. At times, it feels like Bannerlord wasn't play-tested at all.

I honestly don't think the reputation system was intended to be a representation of any kind of realism. It's there to discourage you from excessively killing all the lords because in the game, despite there being birth, there's no good, time relevant way of maintaining adult nobles and lords. It's purely there as a vague attempt to prevent you from emptying the world.

  • @granitebones6956
    @granitebones6956 2 місяці тому +1

The perk tree is better made than it gets credit for. Late game when you start accumulating fiefs, it becomes very handy for your champion companion with a 2hander skill of 200 to have some governor perks, and it becomes possible for you to shift them from warrior towards nobility. Then when you are faction leader and you make them a noble, they have experience in fighting and have also leveled skills like steward and charm that make them more effective party leaders and governors. Having perks that work with multiple builds in multiple trees makes it easier to specialize in ways that give you huge bonuses. A warrior with everything in vigor and endurance, but a decent investment into intelligence and medicine allows you to create a party with 50% more health than normal troops. That way you don't have to recruit a medic companion either, freeing up a slot to specialize in another area

Just update consoles. I'm of the opinion that it would just be better to work on Bannerlord 3 full time with all they learned from this game. That's really the only justification I can think of for the huge lack of updates. I think everything bannerlord does, is done better by Battle Brothers. They’re not 1:1 games, but extremely similar. Battle brothers has the benefit of knowing what it is, and leaning hard into it as a mercenary company simulator. Bannerlord knows what it wants to to be, but spreads its self incredibly thin in the process. Never committing to any one identity. I adore bannerlord, but I feel like Taleworlds could learn a lot from Overhype Studios. It’s really a shame Bannerlord’s updates have slowed down like they have. The game still needs a lot of help I think.

The absolutely worst thing about all of this is that Warband had most of the things Bannerlord is missing in native. It wasn't great but it was something that could be built upon. NPC dialogues had some actual usage, you could give orders to other lords and the fact that lords had personalities meant that each one acted a bit differently. If they just took those ideas and made them again, I would be happy. If they made them better, I'd be ecstatic.

looking at glassdoor reviews and honestly just the development time of this game kind of explains why its currently in this state. pre release materials had a ton of features that they advertised and for a studio of taleworlds size it was insanely ambitious to say the least. i dont think there's a lack of passion at taleworlds but scope creep, poor management, and lack of resources just eats away at development: suddenly you realize if your team is ever going to ship the damn thing you have to hard shift towards qa and making sure the features you did manage to implement works on a base level. the blame still falls in taleworlds court though, cant blame consumers for your own development hell and you cant blame them when they expect the features you promised to be fully fleshed out with depth. however i think theres a really good reason that no one else really even comes close to emulating what mount and blade is trying to do or even make the attempt despite clear interest in a game like this.

  • @T-rev33
    @T-rev33 2 місяці тому +1

You pretty much hit the nail on the head with so many topics but I've got a few more here. With the battles you almost always have to run all the way across the map (unless they greatly outnumber you) which takes forever and the enemy army is backed against the maps boarder. So you can't flank them with your cav because their flank is out of bounds and you pretty much only have the f1 f3 as a choice. Sure you can run all the way over to them and make a shield wall and walk in but you don't have very many tactical options. They should have a retreat boundary or something where you can't back up as far as the other army can advance or just make the AI veried where some will attack and some will run. I mean the peasants and bandits will charge but never with a noble army that's always on you. The end game content to them is just making grind by having your AI so stupid it has to be intentional. You fight someone and they will attack your fiefs but your allies armies will just run around letting the enemy take cities to add grind and extend the life of your playthrough. The only way to not constantly lose cities is to make sure they are all in a general area and always be in an army and manually run back and forth to all the cities fighting. Saved this city now to save that one I just saved 5 min ago and now back to the last one. I once tried to show my friend how awesome this game was but I legit just had to go back and forth between a city and castle like 5 times and he thought yeah the armies are cool but the game itself sucks....you also need more ways to increase relationships because even if they are soulless NPCs I find it odd that they don't really care much when I give them a fief or battle along side them for years while all I have to do is become enemies with someone slaughter all their troops but let them go. Enemy lord "Hey there ya old rascel you've slaughtered all my fellow countrymen again showing me horrors that no man should see kicked my a$$ and stole all my equipment again haha classic you! You're my best friend!" Also your allies will constantly vote on laws that stright up sabotage your playthrough and you have to use a ton of influence to stop it then they vote it back in. Now your choice is either spend all your influence to stop it and not be able to make an army for awhile allowing the enemy to take several towns because your allies sure won't defend them or else let the law pass and screw up your kingdom. The constant war is super annoying as well they also use that to make a grind and try to extend your playthrough. At the end game if you want to go across the map to buy a new weapon or armor itll cost you a city or two because you arent there to defend it against constant war. If the enemy doesnt declare constant war your vassels sure will. It's just a broken game that had and still has so much potential but I really don't see them fixing it.

I definitely agree with a lot of the video, but I think that a lot of context behind the development of the game is missing. For start, the size of the team is about 141 people across three continents, which is not a lot for a game of this magnitude. Second, their plan was to originally keep this game in the oven for much longer but there was so much pressure from the community that they ended up having to cut down on development time, and not only that, they were an indie company during much its early development and the more the worked on the game, the more money they lost so they found a middle-ground where the game is in a playable condition. Third, adding more content would very likely break a lot of the mods available. Even with all that, I still firmly believe this game needed more development time. But even if they did update the game with more content, it wouldn't do much for the company money-wise, so now they're probably putting their focus on DLC or another game. You have to remember that they were still an indie company by the time this game released, now they are more of a AA company. So try not to expect AAA quality.

I had a similar thing with elden ring. I wish it had more development time. but with how big the excitement got there was no way they were going to delay it. I don't mind waiting a long time for a game, but other people do and that's the industry now

True and I believe that had to redo it from scratch atleast once because of the engine

As someone who started playing mount and blade since the actual mount and blade
The mods are everything that made it so successful

I hope they will sell to paradox, the management loath the game in such a bad manner that even the anounced events are "not listed".

Paradox is dowing the same bad shit too.
They are not in a good state in therms of management and fairness to the players.

How do you suggest paradox? Have you not seen what they did to Victoria? Paradoxs games are becoming worse by the year

Hi thanks for the Vid, it was randomly showed to me, after I bought that game since a year or so. And I didnt played it since then! In between I instead played the Warbands with that huge Mod again, which I find it Was really enjoyable.
Now you brought me to play this one the first time and I have to Say that Im positive surprised! Ok it still feels like a giant but thin table with a nice decorated surface and just reused Old elements but somehow it is also a little bit more comfortable and improved.
Maybe Im also just that kind of Player who is looking for such a game but it really bonds me for hours and Im excited to mod it and enjoy it after the community made a title perfect again.
And one thing: The persons in this game Are only there to go non stop to war, there is nearly Nothing Else to Do instead 😂
