That's a sexy 389X! The X-models are my favorites of the 379 and 389! She is beautifulz except for that digital dash! I would have gotten all gauges. I would even want that side panel with 3 more gauges. I believe you can get 15 on the side panel, with 8 more in front of the steering wheel, including the tach and speed, for up to 23 gauges. That's the most I've ever seen anyway. He got the right color, too! Black in and out! I love it!
No Mike, that thing is a big pile of junk! You know why? That’s because the damn thing is a computer on wheels and that emissions junk on the engine it’s what’s getting allot of small business guys bankrupt. I’ll take a restored 1999 or older truck any day, every day and twice on Sunday over any of these new junks and run on paper logs instead of the frigging ELDs too. How about that?
She's a beaut Clark... It's gorgeous. We don't need a third drive axle to get the job done here in the U.S LOL... No we don't use them here in the States, but they do look cool, especially with the heavy duty steer axle and the big 445 tires and wheels... I'm like you, I can't drive sitting on the floor. I actually like to be able to see out of the truck I know some guys think they look cool when they let all of the air out of the seat, but they don't. There's nothing cool about it, and strangely enough, air seats don't work very good without air in them... I really like the look of the polished panels that they put on the black cab guard. Very nice, and it's different. That company has some incredible equipment. The two black trucks and the red truck look cool sitting together.
Absolut awesome truck ❤. I'd love to have it but just would drive it around for fun and occasionally use it for work. Nice fleet your customer has there🎉
This is the sexiest heavy-duty 389X truck I've ever seen! Like, the color is wicked! I also love the tri-drive! I've never driven a tri-drive, especially since we don't have trucks like that down here on the east coast, especially not here in Washington.D.C. and surrounding areas. We don't have a need for them, but I wish we did. I'm glad I've never driven one, though. Bcuz, according to this guy, I would have broken an axle. I wouldn't have known to drive with the diff locked. I'm used to tandem-drives, and ya don't drive with them locked bcuz the truck always wants to go straight, even in curves! BTW, I never understood why tandem-drive diffs were not meant to use at freeway speeds, especially on snow n ice. Like, why wouldn't that come in handy? It's already bad enough that tandem-drive trucks are 6×4s, instead of 6×6s, meaning having a powered steer axle like they do in Europe or even with the U.S. Military trucks, which are even 8×8s! Aside from fuel, I think it'd be nice to have all powered axles. I think it'd be cool to even be able to turn the steer axle and one of the drive axles off when not needed if we had 6×6 tandem drive trucks, or in his case up in Canada, 8×8 trucks! Nonetheless, my dream truck is a 379X extended-hood or a 389X, which only comes in the extended-hood unlike the 379X that also comes in a short-hood, but in the big-hood version, which is straight, not slanted like the regular 379 short-hood! It just sucks that Peterbilt discontinued the 389 for that shitty 589, which is complete failure!
The diffs aren’t locked in just the interaxles, with diffs locked in on tri drives they really hate steering generally don’t lock all three up. Also they do make powered steering axles just they aren’t practical for on highway or city operations, worse turning angles less fuel economy you do see powered steering axles in off highway oil field bed trucks and even some buses are 4x4.
I wish I could like your video more than just 1 like 😂 Beautiful truck bro. I have driven many rigs, but your Pete definitely takes the cake. Keep the greasy side down and the shiny side up - drive safe my friend👍
With that much, I'd just spend for a driven front axle with a haldex,, an allison hybrid drive (E50), and skip air brakes on the always-engaged axle, just relying on traction control and regen braking. 8x8 with an X12CNG.
Nice looking truck and surely it's spec'd to work for the guy who got it, regardless of all the comments. Is that driver side stack actually hooked up, or just a useless showpiece like all the new Paccars we see here in Ontario?

So that’s a logging truck, no mud, dirt roads, tree stumps, just interstate driving, where are these clean woods for a new sexy truck? That truck makes no sense to me at all, I’ve worked in the logging industry and I’ve never seen a rig like that in the woods, please explain how the company can buy a truck for the woods with a sleeper. Hauling lumber is probably what she’s for but the tires in front say woods? Questions and more questions?
What engine is in it? And how much HP'S?
