I do a similar mescal margarita but I use Ancho Reyes rather than some slices of hot peppers. It's slightly sweet so I do 3/4 curacao, and 3/4 ancho reyes, and no simple (although I like my drinks less sweet so the agave syrup would still be nice).
The ginger grapefruit one makes me think of a dark and stormy had a baby with a grapefruit margarita. Perhaps call it “Tormenta de pomelo” or simply a Margarita Tormentosa
Okay, so here's an idea. Get some booze, invite some friends over and put an Anders video on repeat and everyone builds there own cocktails. An Anders party!
Love the Hibiscus variant. I worked in a Mexican Restaurant that had Aguas Frescas like Horchata and Jamaica. Jamaica was made in the traditional way the Mexican owners remembered from their home state of Jalisco with dried hibiscus flowers, ginger, and sugar. I simply added half ounce of fresh lemon and lime with reposado tequila and orange curacao. I called it the Quibiscus. Summertime favorite in the restaurant!

Fantastic timing with this video! I just finished my first version of making a chamoy margarita. a friend of mine from mexico is always saying my cocktails are sweet. So I set out to make one with a flavory profile she would like. She said she loves the taste of Chamoy. I broke down the ingredients and set out to make a cocktail have the same profile, but not feel like I just used Chamoy in a normal marg. Chamoy is made from ingredients that represent all the flavors on the palate: Sweet dried apricots, spicy chile de árbol, salty Tajín seasoning, and sour hibiscus flowers. I already was using hibiscus simple in a whiskey sour variation at the bar. But it really wasn't providing a sour taste to it. I also wanted to keep things as simple as possible so I tried to make sure I only needed one syrup for the cocktail. I decided that the heat from the chillies, the flavor from the hibiscus, and the sugar in the syrup would all work well together. But in order to really get that pop of sour I was looking for I added some citric acid to the mix. Basically, I steeped the chillies in hot water, added the dried hibiscus flowers, added citric acid to the sugar and then slowing poured in the sugar to the chillie hibiscus water, stirring the whole time. Once I had the simple syrup it was a pretty easy build of: 2 oz blanco tequila, 1 oz apricot juice, 3/4 oz simple. Served with a Tajin rim. Worked really well.
I've been making a lot of margaritas lately, so having some tried and tested variations is very welcome. I need to try that hibiscus syrup, thank you Anders for sharing! Great video!
@@Anime-yh8qs I use 1800 for margaritas. It's more suited to it. It's somewhat fruitier and earthier. I live very far from the States, so I can't say how much cheaper it is, but it should be significant.
I love the "half salt" idea. Never thought of just doing one side, and sometimes, I find myself either craving or getting sick of the salt and sweeping it off. So simple. "Facil" even.
Spicy margs with Mescal are absolutely incredible, highly recommended (along with all these). Ancho Reyes liqueur also a great option instead of jalapeños for a kiss of some sweet while dialing back the heat a notch or two. Nice work as always sir 🍻

Going to keep it simple and do the classic! probably going to have a few people where i work that will join me for cocktail hour on the 5th so I'll get to practice making multiples at once. I personally love using Fresno Chiles instead of Jalapeños. I think their slight flavor differences work really well with Mezcal specifically. I also love the slight red tint it gives the drink.
if you replace the tequila to mezcal on the last one you should get: Besos de Mezcal 1 1/2 oz (45 ml) Mezcal 1 oz (30 ml) Agave Syrup 1/2 oz (15 ml) Hibiscus Syrup Juice from two limes.
Those are all so good! I do prefer a mix of the classic and Tommy's margarita by doing .5 oz. each of triple sec and agave syrup. Liber & Co makes a blood orange cordial that can be used to make a blood orange margarita which is also excellent. Oh, and for a bit of whimsy on May 4, slice your lime into wedges, and position them like ears on your glass. You now have a Yoda-rita!

Made the classic version last night and it was a hit with the family. I used the Milagro Reposado but substituted Grand Marnier for the orange curacao. Added just a tiny bit of agave syrup (about a 1/4 of an ounce). Tasted great! It will be fun to play around with different versions of this using other brands of tequila and such. Great video, Anders!

who doesn't love a good margarita? your pin about doing "a million margaritas" is my thought on the Old Fashioned Cocktail. I am planning on doing at least 1000. thanks for the inspiration. cheers
I love making margaritas at home. I like to use 2oz blanco tequila, 1 oz fresh lime juice, 1/2 oz Solerno (a blood orange liqueur), and a 1/2 oz of agave syrup. Then I like to garnish with an orang peel. I feel the orange peel gives it a nice citrusy nose that you don't usually experience with a margarita at a restaurant. All those others are great ones I'll have to try out!
I’ve been making lately a nice spicy marg. I use 2 ounces ghost tequila, half ounce like juice, half ounce agave nectar, 2 ounces pineapple juice, and then I rim the glass with a coconut lime sea salt mix. Absolutely fantastic imo. And even if this doesn’t sound good, I recommend picking up that salt for food or other drinks, it’s amazing.
That hibiscus margarita looks delightful. I had a hibiscus daiquiri at a taco joint near my house recently that I quite enjoyed so I imagine I'll like this one too.

fantastic as always. how do remember what you are going to say. I can't thank you enough for getting me through my isolation when I had covid. thank you both so much.
Thanks for mentioning Shannon’s book! I have a friend that’s having a tiki bar installed in his yard this summer and it will be an awesome opening the tiki bar gift! 🙏🏻💜
I've had two insanely good margaritas this year...one was a smokey mezcal, citrus, champagne mimosa and the other was a beautiful hibiscus margarita with dried flowers and fresh lime. So, so good!🍹🍹
I do a frozen passion margarita with a tajin rim. Also a classic with jalepeno infused tequilla. Absolutely amazing. Love the video as always Anders.
Margaritas are always great and all of these sound great. Glad you guys are enjoying the coasters.
Thanks Anders, I needed this list to hopefully usher in the warmer weather here in MIlwaukee. Cheers to you and Az!
Definitely going to make all five of them. I frequently make a traditional margarita and sometimes make is with mezcal. The addition of the jalapeño sounds amazing.
Great video.
I’m a big fan of the mezcal marg. 2 oz mezcal, 1 oz lime juice, 1 oz honey syrup.
I did a spicy one with Hibiscus and Ancho Reyes Verde liquor. It was amazing!
My wife was under the weather so I made some ginger syrup for her tea.
Then I went to the bar to make the ginger grapefruit.
Excellent drink 👍
First time seeing a margarita on the rocks. What led you to do so? Instead of going neat...
Great video!!!
Grapefruit ginger margarita is a top seller at my bar!! Thank you sir!
That spicy jalapeño one was outstanding! Thank you! My go to for this coming summer.
I made a fassionola cordial for hurricanes. So riffing off of 'Home sip Cocktails', I use 1 ounce cordial, half ounce lime superjuice, 1 & half ounces tequila. So similar to the hibiscus one.
Grapefruit ginger! That's my jam right there. Yum!
Oh my! Found myself a new favorite drink. Thank you thank you for the spicey Margherita. Been looking for a spicey heat forward drink and this is it. Well done with the Tajin. Mmmm spicey and well balanced, you can't wash out the smoke of a good Mezcal. Used Illegal in mine.
Ive been drinking mezcal margaritas for ever and somehow never even thought to make them spicy. Ill have to give that a try. Thanks. And subscribed!
I love the comment about the frozen. "Get over it." Love the videos.
I had a delicious cocktail in Oaxaca which was essentially a Mezcal and Pineapple, Falernum Margarita garnished w/ Sal de Gusano crispy Chapulines. Delicious!
Great video as always. That ad spot was awesome, cracked me up.
Haha had a good laugh at 5:17. Great video, Anders!
Margarita madness situation. LOVE IT
Congratulations on getting to a quarter million subscribers! Keep the great videos coming!
So glad I found your channel.. I am having so much fun with the incredible recipes. Made all the margaritas.. my favourite was the grapefruit ginger.. it could be called a Paloma margarita
who doesn't love a good margarita? your pin about doing "a million margaritas" is my thought on the Old Fashioned Cocktail. I am planning on doing at least 1000. thanks for the inspiration. cheers
2 teq 1lime or 3/4 lime, 3/4 cointreu and 1/4 agave.
My favorite build
Spicy margarita is my favorite, thank you for the recipe Anders
I love making margaritas at home. I like to use 2oz blanco tequila, 1 oz fresh lime juice, 1/2 oz Solerno (a blood orange liqueur), and a 1/2 oz of agave syrup. Then I like to garnish with an orang peel. I feel the orange peel gives it a nice citrusy nose that you don't usually experience with a margarita at a restaurant. All those others are great ones I'll have to try out!
Fantastic video as always. I made the hibiscus one and used ghost pepper tequila. Perfection.
Where do you get it from?
Have tried a variation on the 5th one. Made a JalaHibiscusPineapplepeño syrup. Came out smelling like sweet and sour sauce but it worked really well!
Awesome video as usual Anders! Ready for Cinco de Mayo now…but, looking forward to the Mint Julep video next week! (Wink wink) - Derby week!! Cheers!
Thanks for the great videos! It's almost Margarita Monday!
That hibiscus margarita looks delightful. I had a hibiscus daiquiri at a taco joint near my house recently that I quite enjoyed so I imagine I'll like this one too.
Margarita is my go to cocktail at home so this is a fun video to add to the repertoire
Enjoying the mezcal marg at the moment. So delicious.
I play with Ancho Reyes liqueur in my margaritas as well. Highly recommend!
Margarita is my favorite cocktail 😍
Your channel is the best ❤️
Great fruit and ginger, sounds refreshing. Let's call it the refreshing margarita
Just made the Grapefruit ginger margarita. Thanks.
