El Diablo - 2 ways to make a tequila classic!
Вставка
- Опубліковано 16 чер 2024
- In today's video, I'm going to make the El Diablo two ways! This is a tequila classic created by Trader Vic, and I like presenting it in a fun, interactive way. I've also always used ginger beer. The original recipe, however, called for ginger ale! What's the difference? Does it matter? The ginger beer's cloudy - which helps to showcase my dramatic presentation. The ginger ale, on the other hand, isn't cloudy, but packs a spicy ginger punch. So is one better? Why not find out by trying them both side-by-side? In either case, the result is a refreshing tequila drink that's sure to please. Hope you enjoy! Cheers!

Do you think I should do a bar-flair video? 🤔
Edit: Just to be clear - I can’t do flair.
Hell yeah you should 👍
Personally, I think flair is...not my thing. It feels like a lot of extra energy to make a poorly constructed cocktail.
I much prefer the practiced fluidity and efficiency of, say, a Jean-Félix of Truffles on the Rocks or the sort of graceful rituality of some Japanese bartenders.
(Sorry, Vlad.)
Basic/easier bar flare would be perfect, no way I can do anything more than that at this point😂
Of course
No doubt 👍
My mother (who lived most of her life in SC) was a HUGE Blenheim ginger ale fan. (She pronounced it “blen-um” - no idea if that’s right or not.) She brought the spicy stuff to our first family get together post-Covid (most of us couldn’t handle it 😂). She passed in February and your video got me in the feels a little bit, wasn’t expecting that. Thanks for a good memory. ❤️
Love this - thank you for sharing. I could very easily be mispronouncing the name, but really enjoy the ginger ale. Your mother had good taste! Cheers to you, and cheers to her 🥂
I am from SC and we always pronounced it like your mother did Charlotte, Blen-um.😊 I am now an expat from SC and live in Germany , I sure miss the Blenheim.I hope everybody has a great 4th of July!!
Isn't that how they pronounce the name of the town, too? We drive through there going to the beach and have stopped in a couple of little shops. Thought Blen-um was the correct one, for the area.
@@ronswansonsalterego8533 ,Have fun-ua-cam.com/video/PsAyKqsObjc/v-deo.html
FWIW Blenheim Palace in the UK is also Blen-um or more Blen-im
Realy love your videos. Used to drink just Rum & Coke, but now Iˋve got a stacked bar cabinet and quite a few bar tools. Thanks for showing me how much great cocktail one can make at home 😀
I just completed a 30 Days of Tiki project in June where I made a different Tiki Drink everyday.
The El Diablo was the standout/surprise of the project. Excellent cocktail, and really easy to make.
A friend made this for me recently and gave me the recipe. I literally had two of them tonight - I go through tequila pretty quick thanks to this one! I always go for a spicy ginger beer when I make it, it definitely is better that way!
Just made both versions for my wife and I (with different ginger beer and ginger ale, and two different types of tequila), and they were AMAZING. Hooked on this channel.
Your intros are golden 👌🏻. Never change Anders, never change.
I just realized this is the only channel I hit the LIKE 👍 button before I even watch the video. Friday's can't come soon enough to learn a new cocktail. Thanks Anders!
I love this drink so much! We’ve made it several times since you posted it. Thanks!
This channel is very underrated. I’ve made a few recipes and they’ve all been fantastic. This one is next for sure
Love these videos. It’s fun to try new cocktails. I made the classic version you shared today. Delicious! Cheers 🍻!
Ooooh love the new angle! Glad you showed us this!
I love Creme de Cassis and I've never thought it would be mixed with tequila. Looks awesome and looking forward to make this myself.
Just served this! Perfect summer, beach drink!
This has been a favorite of mine for the past five years.
Love the behind the scenes angle. Auz is a genius!! Love you, love her.
Just found this channel and it’s amazing!!!
Another great video, Anders! It was really beautiful how the creme de Cassis sunk to the bottom of the glass!
Cheers, Ryan! Thanks!
This kid makes some of the best mixed drink videos. Great!
Ahh yes! no weekend is complete without a new cocktail to try!! 🤤
The new angle is very nice, I was thinking to myself I liked it when you mentioned it.
It really creates interest and proximity through the fact that we feel like we’re witnessing part of the process.
As much as I definitely care most about the taste of a cocktail I am definitely a sucker for interactive fun stuff
Saludos desde Quito Ecuador, excelente el video me gustó el cóctel muchas gracias y siga adelanté.
I really like the opening shot near the window! It reminds me of some of your older video intros.
It also makes the phrase "To the bar!" make more sense, even if it's just a few feet away! :)
A few feet can be a long way depending on how many cocktails you’ve drunk
You're killin' me, Anders. You keep showing us awesome cocktails using ingredients I don't have in my bar yet. Creme de Cassis goes onto the shopping list, though more shelving should go onto the list first.
Also, I LOVED your characters video. I'd love another. You missed your calling in acting.
Thanks, Dusty! That was a fun one to make - good to know you enjoyed it!
Shelving struggles, truly the barrier to great cocktails....My floor just doesn't look classy!
I was turned onto Creme de Casis in Omaha NE, early 80's. "My Drink" back then was a Kir Cocktail. White wine & Creme de Casis. I started making them again, to change up from Mimosas & Bloodys. ps When someone says "go to the window", a snart man goes to the window. 😃🦩🎶🥂
My main food cabinets are the perfect size for tall bottles. So, I don't even use them to store food anymore.
I think I watched your Bar Characters video like 5 times in a row when I first came across it - So love that one! ✌️
can't wait for the 4K videos for watching on TV! Keep up the good work Anders, big fan!
wow sounds great. I like ginger so both will do. thanks for the options. cheers
I love your bar characters video! It was a lot of fun to watch.
I've seen it in the store here in NC. Now I know to get it, and I'll try this out as soon as I can. Excellent!
Tequila newbie here (except for the four shots I had one night many years ago at a closing night cast party 🤦🏻♀️), so glad to get the recommendation for a tequila drink where you “don’t really taste the tequila”!
To the bar!
New angle is great, the brick makes a really chilled background
Agree, I like a brick porch setting with a grassy lawn view, super cosy drink setting.
Really enjoyed this one. Ginger beer is rapidly becoming a favorite mixer here in my house. And the lime wheel presentation was a hit with the family. :-)
Anders, Dayum, your version is delish.
loved the 'blood flow'. Big hit with friends
I’m compelled to try this one more than any other I’ve seen before.
Wow, will try this when I'm back Home from my Trip! Thanks for the Video Anders!
This looks delicious! I like the interactive with the lime husk but I do like a spicy ginger also.
Awesome drink with the lime shell. What I did with mine was punch a hole in the lime shell slightly smaller than the straw and push the straw through. Then I placed the lime shell with straw in the glass and filled with cassis. When serving, I tell my guests to try the drink first and then pull the straw out, releasing the cassis.
This is my favourite cocktail that isn't called a Sidecar... Some cocktails will have flavour and get you mashed but mostly taste like cocktails. This one is next level. Great video, can't recommend the drink highly enough.
Personally loved the bar characters videos and would like more of them!
Looks good, I’ll try it tonight
Made this today, people loved pushing the lime in and seeing it mix
There's a place local to me that does stuff I could only get at farmers markets. Wright's Original Dark Ginger. It's not a soft drink (no bubbles) but's fiery ginger and I love it.
Dude! That was a fun one to watch. Drinks from this category are so much fun to make...and, of course, to drink as well! A while back I stumbled on a variation of the El Diablo called a Red Bomber that used Cherry Heering instead of the crème de cassis. It's definitely worth trying. And if you're a nerd like me, and you need something to help pass the evening at a diplomatic dinner with the Klingons, then swap out the tequila for a white rum, use blue curacao instead of the cassis, and you've got yourself some Romulan Ale. Cheers!
Anders, never thought of ginger ale in Tequila. Had ginger ale in CC. And when I was a kid love Vernon’s, hadn’t seen it around in years and when in Florida found it there and mixed it with rye, Bourbon. Now I am going to try it with Tequila and see how that goes. Great show, your a natural. 👍
I love that you use barrits gingerbeer as i am a bartender from BERMUDA! Love the content. I always try to make your drinks when i’m at work.
Fresh homemade ginger beer is the best! Lots of things can be homemade and better than the store bought counterpart, but ginger beer is one of my top picks for best product made inhouse.
I love the new angle
New camera angle is great! I'd love to see more behind the scenes and your bottle collection.
I will be serving this at my next Hidden Oasis Speak Easy next month! THANK YOU ! ! !
We’re trying to make different tequila cocktails for summer i’m excited to try this!!
I recognized the Blenheim as soon as you set the box down. I miss them, they really are the best!
Agree with Az. My first thought was blood. But it’s still a really cool presentation. Nice!
I'd have to disagree, I absolutely love your Tales from the Bar video! Have already watched it more than 6 times at least. You're a great actor as well (who knew!) haha, Arigato!
Just made the 1946 version using Fever Tree ginger beer, fantastique!! Was s big hit. Nice summertime drink in Phoenix.
Looks tasty! Might have to try one this weekend😁
300k coming soon… congratulations!!! You all do great content. I can’t remember a Bloody Mary episode but that might be a fun one too.
I liked the window angle, it added a nice feel to the opening of the video. Also, since your on your way to being a married man then just remember... Az is always right. Just accept that and your life will be a lot happier. Just keep repeating to yourself, Az is always right.
There are a few Ginger BEER, with alcohol in them. Imo they bring some extra kick and flavour and can be soooo good in almost all recipies that call for gingerale/beer
I prefer the original version, my wife prefers your version and now I prepare both the versions if we want to drink it! In any case good drink
For the record, I LOVED the Bar Characters video, it was so fun and funny, another one would be great! Also YES to Bar Flair :)
This is a great drink. 1st time I've used creme de caasis.
new angle rules 👏🏻
Gonna do El Diablo right after watching this! ❤️
Love the new angle! Cool to see how the "sausage is made"
😂
I finally got ahold of some Blenheim’s and wow what a difference it makes..takes it from a good cocktail to a great cocktail
I'm French, and I approve this video.
New angle was fun, Fantastic video as always :)
Cheers!
Knew as soon as I saw the tops of these bottles they were Blenheim! I grew up and went to school in SC and my fraternity used to buy these bad boys for every party we threw.
Cheers to another great video Anders!
Window angle is refreshing
hahaaaaaa the little diss on slick bartender
loved it 😆
Somehow missed the Bar Characters video, so just watched it. Well done!!!
Hey AE love the content!! You're turning me and my son in law into apprentice craft drink professionals (thanks to covid seclusion) with a new try every weekend. How about a vid or a table on aligning glassware to drinks??😀
Loved the behind the scenes images in the beginning. I'm slowly building up my own bar corner while tackling the mrs's objections one by one. I've gotten a lot of ideas from your videos in both drinks and bar building.
Common, a lot of missus do not see discerning drinks as a culinary art.
You're my favorite youtube bartender!
AHHHHHHH. Kinda like a Dark and Stormy!!! Introduced to D/S at the base of Lake Tahoe Heavenly whilst having a great pizza. Since then a HUGE fan of ginger beer use straight or in beverages. Will try this TODAY!!!
Love your videos & have enjoyed many of the drinks you've shared. Can't wait to try this one.
I had a layered drink at a Mexican restaurant a few months ago & it was amazing & quite potent for a lightweight like me. I tried making it and couldn't get it quite right. It's called, "Electric Watermelon". It has gin, vodka, rum, orange juice, watermelon liqueur & grenadine. Would love to see a video on how to make this properly! 😊
Bar Characters! That was a good one!
You should try to make your own ginger beer - it’s really fun. I love mine in Munich Mule (Gin instead Wodka and of course - Cucumber; because when you have already have ginger in your favorite beverage to improve your health you must nor forget the electrolytes).
never beena big tequila guy but this i something i think i could drink! cheers mate!
Almost 300k subs! Keep it up! Love the El Diablo. Thx for the nfo… again!
Thanks, Brad!! Cheers to you - hope you're doing well!
@@AndersErickson 300k subs!! Woot woot!!
Yum!
Blenheim is my favorite ginger ale: makes me sneeze! I can’t find it easily in sf and use it sparingly. I recognized that pink cap right off
One of my favorite substitutions in an El Diablo is using Chambord if you can't find creme de casis
I was just thinking if this would be a good sub since I actually have a holy hand grenade of Chambord on hand. Thanks for the tip!
AWESOMEEE, have to try it. Cheers 🍸🎉 Good video by the way, as usual. 😃
Thank you so much - Cheers to you!
Anders puts on an El Diablo clinic. Just Anders, future Anders, and Az ... at their best. Thanks for the secret ingredient. So good, so good.
This reminds me that I need to explore more Ginger Beers. I love the stuff. Spicy would be nice. And what‽ Nobody watches Bar Characters? That video is one of my favorites. I love how you break the 4th wall to show us how you feel about Ceazy Eyes.
Nice I will have to try it. I really like Reed's Extra Strong Ginger Beer. It's super strong ginger flavor, a little burn.
If nobody watches the Bar Characters video, it's their loss....I can't tell you how many service industry friends I've showed it to that practically broke out in applause afterwards. It's seriously a work of genius!
Thanks! Service industry is the right audience 👌
My favorite is the crisp snap every time you open the tin after shaking. As opposed to my eternal struggle to look cool but repeatedly smacking it and moving it back and forth to finally awkwardly dislodge it. (same brand/type you use)
ANDERS!!! This def looks like my cup of tea!! I have a spicy Jamaican ginger beer that I'll use in this!!! I can't wait to try both!! CHEERS to you my friend!!
Hey Tim!! A spicy Jamaican ginger beer will be perfect! Hope you enjoy it my friend! Cheers!!
That is my favorite ginger ale.
Great video
Looks yummy
Wow! you're space is really cool! You should try and film into the corner, and show off some of that brick!
I love ginger beer, anything ginger fire haha ❤
I make it this one with mezcal and ginger syrup instead of ginger beer/ale in a martini/coupe glass and it’s pretty tasty.
Hell has some Great Jazz & Blues!!...The EL DIABLO Likes It 'HOT'! I have No Problem..with the Extra 'KICK' of Ginger!...Let the MUSIC START! Another Great Comparison! You Anders are the KING! Bows & Respect from your Canadian Bartender!😃
Thankfully, Blenheim is sold in a store close to me here in Tennessee. Gonna try this asap!
People are sleeping on the bar characters video? That one was such a fun departure from the usual stuff and seriously well done!
