Thanks for your recommendation of James E. Pepper Barrel Proof! I to am a Veteran and now James E. Pepper Barrel Proof is in my Top 10. Blessings to you and yours!
thanks for your service!
BTW i bought to 2 more bottles of that Pepper yesterday!
@@FredMinnick Same to you! I’m on my 3rd bottle in less than two months! Undeniably!
I'm hunting that.
Love the Pepper Barrel Proof 😋
Thank you for your service, sir. Much respect. ✊
Good to see you back with the heavy hitters, Fred 👍👍
Ok looking forward to getting my hands on one to review myself. Thanks Fred!
I should be getting one of these tomorrow.. I scored the 20. Wasn't super my favorite but was good.
I haven’t heard the name Levi Garrett in a loooong time
That and Apple Jack were always readily available in the locker room in high school lol.
I was at a bar that had a single barrel of Balcones cask strength rye. It was definitely the weirdest rye I've tasted. The dominant note was tobacco, followed by leather. I couldn't taste anything fruity, but it did have a caramel note that I didn't pick up on until the 4th or 5th sip. I was glad I tried it but wouldn't buy a bottle.
Fred! We finally made progress last year and we were able to see the bottles you were reviewing sitting on the table. We have regressed! 😂
Great recommendations!! Just wondering, do you do collabs at all?
The 18 year is delicious!! 🤩
We all have different tastes. I've liked several offerings from Heaven Hill and liked most of them. Won't hesitate to give it a try.
Salute to the Veterans
Nice talk and great review my friend.
God bless our troops- I’m in! Keep yo the good work for our men
2nd that. Thank you to all who served. My donation is tiny compared to your sacrifices.
I found out I’m not a double oak enjoyer so I’m gonna say that anything that is oaky it’s a pass. Second and probably more important is that in my area I will not see these ever. Third is price if it’s over 150 I’m way out. So yes I watched but not concerned about getting this.
I loved the HH17 but now I wonder about this one...
Yeah I’m a huge oak fan so this is sounding not as good as HH17 for me and also HH17 was mostly 19-20yr old bourbon in the blend
The 18 doesn't hold a candle to the 17. 17 blows the 18 outa the water!
I have to say that I didn’t expect you to say “I like this”. From the tone of your review, I was thinking just the opposite.
I agree about the heaven hill tannic and oak notes. I even felt the HH17 was a bit tannic. I was at a tasting at it was way oakier and more tannic than Pappy 20 was (it was one of the pappy 20s that was a mix of SW juice and any juice)
New camera?
Well since you don’t like old Heaven Hill. Feel free to send us your bottle, because we love it. Great as always, thanks Fred! Cheers
Not a resounding endorsement! I won't regret not finding it now!
That is fair
I just refuse to pay 300 and more for a bottle of whiskey
If people would stop the prices would fall
youre gaye as hell
Paid $360 today lol
"Peaches come in a can, they were put there by a man"
This vs Elijah Craig 18
microphone seemed a little off in this video - just fyi
Whats msrp?
$299
Shapira family went after my alma mater via the Washington Post, they make great Whiskey, but one of Heaven Hill's board members is a horrible person, fairly certain he is anti-veteran too. Or that is the vibe. That's what I think randomly whenever I drink Elijah Craig (the name of a slave owner). I know random post. But they do make great whiskey, just need to disassociate from this guy. On mashbills, you're only getting the grain bill because the only way to duplicate it you'd need the yeast strain.
So real question is, is it worth the price tag?
I would guess no based on this review and the one from the Mash and Drum. The consensus seems to be go get an ECBP 9c23.
L 😂😂😂 YEP!!!! Taste 👅 bad
I agree with you big time on the oak thing. Honestly I think the Elijah Craig C922 was a lot better and more well rounded than the older C923 everyone is raving about. Heck, a lot of times I like things like 1792 Full Proof better. There definitely becomes a point in age where you’ve lost the character of the mashbill and you just are drinking oak sugar liquor. All those “deep dark and rich” ultra aged bourbons all taste basically the same to me, and you lose a lot of character of what a bourbon “should” taste like, in my opinion. To me, it isn’t OAK specifically, but the types of flavors in general that come along with high aged bourbons.
Edit
Come on people. There are over 5k views on this video and only $190 raised. I know at least 10 percent of us are “taters”. If 600 people through 50 bucks each it would make a difference. If 6000 people did a dollar hell that would help. Think of it as literally pennies an hour for content.
@fredminnick best chain store off the shelf splurge?
Not watching this because nobody can get this so there’s no point.
I didn’t realize they all disappear into the ether. 😂someone has to gets them. Just going to be a lottery item
