    Pantera’s sonic aggressiveness awakened a primeval savagery within you that made you wanna fuck or fight.

    There are photos of Dime and Vinny hanging out at their house back in 1984. One is Dime and James. James is playing the Dimebolt.

      That's when music got real for the most part. Great on all fronts - metal of course, rock, Even the pop and the hip hop were pretty damn good back then

    Completely random personal story: As a young teenager, me and a cousin of mine were already big Pantera fans. We had an uncle who was completely obsessed with diseases, and was an health freak. He had a room filled with medicines, from skin rash to ashtma. We nicknamed him Medicine Man after the Pantera song, and sometimes sang it in his presence, but obviously he never understood, specially being Portuguese lol.

    I heard Walk on Headbanger’s Ball in 92 or 93 and it was the only song in my head for months until I later heard Cowboys From Hell. I immediately bought the album and my world was again just completely changed when I heard Domination. Later in college when I took the history of rock music and the instructor spoke about how people’s minds were blown when they heard Sgt. Peppers, I was able to relate and understand what he meant when I thought back to when I first heard these songs from Pantera. Years later when Trendkill came out it did it for me again and opened me up to much heavier stuff.

      All right on - you got into the good stuff! Domination is a killer track, and of course Trendkill is an album that stands on its own. I agree with you - work like this stands right along some of the great stuff like Sgt pepper in its own right. It helped push music along.

    Love this video... a masterpiece of an album. Damn I wish Dime and Vinnie were still here to continue making their metal for the masses. I miss what their music may have become.

    For me this album is easily their best!
    Great production, heavy but still melodic in places, very catchy riffs, amazing Halford like screams by Phil!
    He never sounded like that again. Mostly his beloved growls. Not my thing.

    • @guitarmeetsscience
      @guitarmeetsscience  День тому +1

      Oh yeah - he had already dialed back his insane screams he was doing at the end of cemetery Gates by the time they were playing it out live. Of course it was awfully demanding for his voice, so I think he had to find a good pace in order to be able to sustain himself. He really put himself out on the line during the recording of this one. A perfect snapshot in time.

      @@guitarmeetsscience Yes you are right. Thank you for making these super interesting videos! So many bands to cover 😁.
      How about my favorite band: Judas Priest?
      Or Black Sabbath?
      I also love some "hair bands" like Dokken and Skid Row.
      Anyways have a good weekend!

    Dime got the symmetrical pattern playing from EVH

    • @guitarmeetsscience
      @guitarmeetsscience  20 годин тому

      Yes!! Absolutely right! He was a big EVH fan, and it was so cool of Eddie to have one of his guitars buried with dime. I've always been fascinated with their brilliant use of symmetrical patterns.

  • @sixstringhans-tone5574
    @sixstringhans-tone5574 2 дні тому +1

    Yeah, I like your descriptive narrations how maybe ya might say the key or that it sound real haunting or maybe the scale the solo is in. It just tells me ya know yer shit! Cuz I don’t know shit!🤣 It makes me wanna learn the solos since I suck at um. But it’s not to bad if I’m writing my own solo…….🤘🏼 ✌🏼

    • @guitarmeetsscience
      @guitarmeetsscience  День тому

      Thanks man! I love how dime twisted theory. He would just grab a pattern that fit well together on the strings and just run it up, EVH did that too - and it worked. Way back when I got really deep into Troy Stetina "heavy metal lead guitar volume 2".... I seriously think that is the best explanation of music theory that there is. It's very underrated, and I don't even know if it's actually on the market anymore, but man nobody breaks it down the way he did in that book and cassette set. Thanks for the kind words bro I'm really glad you enjoyed it. I will also try to get a bit more theory into the discussion as well - there is always so much fun stuff to explore in those solos especially. 🤘🤘
