i graduated from Architecture 2 years ago, I was an active artist during my student days and i earned a good amount of money and follows with my art . however after graduating I was unsure what to do, so like everyone I got into an architecture job rat race. and it felt like hell for me, low pay, over time almost everday ,no overtime free, low salary( I used to earn 2x more as a student that I earn by doing a proper job). I lost all my art clients and followers. I was severely depressed . last month I suddenly snapped and quit as this isn't letting me any time to continue my art. I quit Architecture to pursue art. Everyone is telling me this is a terrible decision but i am so traumaized by architecture I never wanna go back again. I'm slowly trying to restart my art career but having difficult to do so as 1 year of architecture job kinda killed the artist in me. But I am trying to revive again. i was severly depressed when this video came to me, Your video acted as a therapy for me. Now I am feeling hopeful again that I can restart my art career .Really thank you for this video. Don't know what the future holds but I want to take the leap of faith to becoming a full time artist ( Even though dangers of AI taking over Artist's jobs is looming ever closely )
Hey you're not alone! I worked for 1 yr in the interior design industry now im shifting to an art career. I got traumatized as well in the industry and a lot of ppl think my idea is terrible. Im currently jobless and slowly building my art portfolio and gain again recognition online. Im also Planning to enroll in a state university to get a finearts certificate to persue my dreams to becoming an artist! :3
Also an architect thinking about transitioning into being a full time concept artist after being an art hobbyist for a couple of years, this video gave me the final push, thanks a lot👍
And I am an Academic artist holding degree in graphic painting and intermedia art and now thinking to go into architecture, sounds challenging but I'll see
I got laid off 2 months ago. I also got laid off during the pandemic. And I’m determined to transition out of architecture this time. Best of luck to you!
Hi there. I graduated in both dips of the double dip recession in 2008. It was brutal. I have a folder of 100s of rejections (back then you applied with physical cvs!) It all worked out for me. And it will work out for you too. Remember, careers are a marathon, not a sprint. You got this. ❤️
@@HANNABENIHOUD this really is useful info in my country, South Africa. We have so much talent! And one of the highest global unemployment rates. Thanks again!
Great question. It depends on what your practice is. But I would make a budget and work within your means. Don't spend on high end materials if you can't afford them. A lot of my early work was done with materials from pound land. This constraint often encourages creativity. Another example is with this channel I am doing everything on my phone until I can justify spending money on it. :) You don't need fancy stuff to make good work imo
