It was much more popular in the early days. Moving to updates every six months was a mistake that basically killed the game. Noone could keep up. Going to one box for a whole edition is a massive improvement.
Well, that in combination with covid; with gamestores closed for the public for 2 years and a 2-year rotation cycle, there were a lot of cards that saw no use and disenframchised a lot of players
I'm getting a copy. The dream is that I can get in quick games of it when there's no time/interest to play longer games, but in the past I've not internalised the rules enough for it to actually play in a easy half-hour. Hopefully the presumably streamlined rules and no longer needing unique cards for every warband will make it a bit easier to pick up and play.
Pre the "Dark Times" Underworlds had tournaments in my area that had decent turnout. That all fell apart though. The models seemed to sell though. They are excellent for painting competitions.
I bought quite some underworlds for the models, I was not interestd in keeping up with cards and having to build decks. Now I am going to get the new underworlds to play it like a boardgame with the premade decks.
In a quasi-related subject... I’d like an update on the Spearhead format for AoS. Haven’t tried it yet because I’m working on Old World armies and haven’t invested in any actual Spearhead boxes. The sort of apparent niche/regional appeal of Underworlds reminded me of Spearhead.
@@johnnutter7372 I did that at the end of season 2, but I've never done my entire collection. I should! Once my ceiling gets fixed and I can use the room again 😭
@@philknecht3598 these mats are from Gamemat EU. The one on top here is specifically their toxic waste map with the Pariah Nexus deployment overlay. Beneath today is their cyberpunk mat. They're both good!
The game is aimed at someone like my wife, who likes fantasy settings, boardgames and who finds measuring distances in a board with terrain unappealing .
Gosh thats more expensive than I was thinking. Sort of interested in simplifying the game to make it even faster but I'll see if I can make it work with the old sets with some homerules and printed cards.
It is too expensive for a boardgame. Seems like at the end of the day it will just pick up dollars that the gw faithful would have but into a different gw product. Going to just end up as another dust collector.
I wonder if my disconnect on price comes from GWs 1.65 conversion rate to dollars compared to the 1.3 range the pounds to dollar conversion has been around for a decade. Add on the fact that our sales tax is added to the retail price and not included so pushing it up 6 to 10 percent more.

Ha, First! This is the most interested I’ve been in Underworlds in years, to be honest.

At last, someone who is as profoundly colourblind as myself.

Anyone else reading the title as Ermahgerd Unboxing?
I hope they make a version of this for 40K/KT some day.
May I ask if you've ever considered taking family pictures of each of your killteams/armies and posted them in one video? I feel like you have.

@GlassHalfDead Thatd be great! Im also slightly colorblind and I like your themes.

@ sadly not, they don't do affiliate codes!

Shame the card artwork is gone. Photos of minis instead seems cheap...
It's been a very contentious change, for sure. I'm fine with it, it seems to make sense for who they are now marketing the game at.
They remind me of top trump cards

It isn’t the old world. It is missing soul, meaning, life. That was missing. The game was fun in its mechanics. I just can’t stand aos.
