    0:00 Intro - Click show more under the video to read more.
    0:05 The technician cut out the sections of wiring that were damaged and wired in some new wires. Then he covered the wires in flexible conduit and electrical tape. How the customer tried fixing the wiring is definitely not the way to do it! The wires should have been covered as well since they are close to the frame and a lot of road debris could damage the wires.
    0:22 The mechanic is unsure why the customer would install new brake pads on these very rusted and worn brake rotors, however, the customer got new ones installed.
    0:33 An important reminder if you have a leak you don't want to fix, keep an eye on it! In this case, the customer drove around for 6 months without fixing a leak which damaged the front differential which is going to cost a lot more.
    0:53 As mentioned the propane mixer was touching the positive terminal on the alternator and when the hood was closed it was grounded out on the hood which caused the fuse to pop. The technician said he thinks the alternator circuit is shorted internally as well but the customer did not want that looked at or repaired. The alternator is still only charging at around 13v and should ideally be between 13.5v and 14.5v. Also very important to keep your covers on fuse boxes so you don't have a massive amount of dirt/debris enter the fuse block which could cause even more issues.
    1:19 The shop installed a new oil pan and gasket. They think the customer drilled holes in the oil pan in hopes of removing the oil pickup tube to make the oil pan removal easier. The engine is a 4.7L (Chrysler). They didn't mention the model.
    1:32 I would recommend never tying anything to your suspension or steering components. Resecuring splash shields can be done a lot easier than what the customer tried doing.
    1:45 When the technician points to the floor you can see the scratch marks on the spare wheel. The customer had tried driving like this, but the car wouldn't move that well and that's why there's a flat spot on the spare tire as well. Good thing they ended up getting the vehicle towed in. It's almost brand new with only 2000 miles/3200 km on it!
    2:05 We've seen this a few times on the channel where customers thought they bought a 4WD and didn't realize until after that it wasn't. If it's 4WD it should have a transfer case, front differential, front driveshaft, and a 4WD dial to engage the vehicle into 4WD.
    2:16 No extra info.
    2:24 The mechanic has no clue how the customer didn't mention anything about this absurd noise from the driveshaft hitting against the fuel tank.
    2:39 "Customers DIY install of their racing seat and harness. That is NOT a harness bar in the back. NA Miata"
    2:55 The customer must have broken a couple of transmission pan bolts when installing the new pan. Always torque those bolts to the manufacturer's specifications.
    3:06 The person who filmed this noticed this guy was taking a pick axe to the wheel of his car. He's unsure why but saw this when going to an appointment.
    3:13 Outro. Thanks for watching!

    That last clip takes me back. To 1995, specifically. Heading out to work, mind you wearing office wear, and realize my rear tire on my 1994 Geo Prism is way low on air. Also, it had snowed about 4" the night before. Jacked this puppy up to put on spare, find the rim is stuck to the wheel. Oh, look, I played hockey the previous night and my gear is still in the car. Extract a goalie stick, and smack the heel of the stick right on the edge of the tire maybe 2x, and the rim popped off. Whew. :) Got the spare on, and was on my way.

We resorted to loosening all the lug nuts on the wheel and driving it in the big parking lot and jamming on the brakes. No dice. Had to turn that job down. We didn't have the proper pick axe to break it loose I guess.

    3:05 - For those of you that run into this issue:
    A - ensure that *_ALL_* lug nuts have been removed. *_Count them!_*
    B - Using the spare tire, strike the top center of the tire that refuses to pop free of the hub. Do this *FIRMLY*, making sure that only the rubber of the spare contacts the tire. On the rear wheels you can strike the top center, front, and rear of the wheel. ONLY TOP on the front wheels.
    C - If that fails, get a can of brake-free (like WD-40 but stronger, designed to break rusty parts loose). Let it sit for 10 minutes, then try step 'B' above.
    D - If all else fails, spin the lug nuts back on until they're seated, then back them off 1/4 turn. CAREFULLY drive the car _at a slow speed._ The 'clunk' of the wheel releasing will feel different than the flop-flop of the flat tire being driven on (essentially, the shock of thumping over the flat should shake the rim loose from the hub). NO MORE THAN 5 MPH!!!
    NEVER strike the rim or wheel with a naked metal device - always place a piece of scrap wood between the wheel and whatever metal implement you intend to strike with.

    • @boydsterling3193
      @boydsterling3193 8 місяців тому +1

      Agreed - there are several easy methods to solve the issue without damaging the wheel…
      When I had an alloy that wouldn’t budge for anything and a brake disc that did the same, one single blow from a 6ft wooden fence post shifted them immediately, that pickaxe or most hammers don’t have the weight in them

      What I do on my Audi is use a crowbar and wheel pops right off with no damage to the rims/hubs.

    • @nirfz
      @nirfz 8 місяців тому

      On my previous car i had that happen sometimes over the summer, and i either pulled hard enough on the outside of the tire on one side while pushing on the other side. (usually one hand on top one at the bottom) and when that didn't work i did what you listed under D. But i only moved the car maybe 1 meter forward (slowly and against the brakes). Was enough to loosen the sticking rim audibly in a circular fashion while not damaging anything.
      I never hit my wheels with anything, i mean that would mean they are out of balance or possibly damaged.
      Also, i am not sure what he wants to achieve with the pickaxe. The way he strikes at the area around the wheel studs /screws... makes me think he tries to get a security nut off to which he has no correct tool (or doesn't find it).
      My father had such security bolts on his wheels years ago, one per wheel, and a workshop lost the tool (special socket) he always had stored it in the trunk. So i tried to find one with a simliar pattern and dremeled it to fit. It did work for that one time we needed it. We never put on the safety bolts again, and i had to get a metal splinter removed from my right eye.
      Moral of the story: either get at least 2 sockets for a set of security wheelnuts/bolts or don't use them, and *wear eye protection* when using a tool like a Dremel! *normal prescription glasses are not enough* (like my case showed)

    3:06 Easiest way to get a stuck wheel off? Kick it with your foot from the top to the sides. Sometimes it's just a bit of dirt holding it and it'll shake loose. If that doesn't work, kick it with your foot from the opposite side underneath (provided you have more than just that scissor jack holding the car up, of course). You get more leverage with your foot and the wheel. For those of us who live in the north and the first two don't work, a well-placed sledgehammer and a block of wood against the rim from behind will also do it. Never EVER hit the rim with the sledgehammer by itself. There's not a wheel yet I haven't been able to remove and I live on a dirt road in Michigan.
