I'd say Enter Sandman is way easier than Seek and Destroy, especially later in the song when SaD speeds up. Sandman was my first Metallica riff in any case.
I play battery on bass. It's a strange song to play to say the least because of how disconnected the vocals and drums feel while playing it (specificaly the main riff) but it's still fun to play.

I learned Battery before I learned Seek & Destroy, when I was a beginner. It was easier than Seek & Destroy at first. It's basically just chugs and power chords.
