Sang this with my high school choir in my sophomore year. I saw it and was instantly reminded of the amazing harmonies we made together. Thanks for the beautiful music
Voces 8 does a beautiful, crystalline, smooth rendition, as always. I must confess that, to me, it suffers from not having the stirring volume of a full-throated choir (especially tenors and bass) in the dramatic, wondrous penultimate part, before the soft, gentle end.
He means, that only eight people just do not bring the same force and power along as a choir of fifty Russians…😅😊 …which is quite a matter of fact and physics. it is the part at 01:52, where the composition just is meant to be sweeping away the listeners or else the believer by an irrestible torrent or floodwave pushing down a barren wadi….(at least that is how I do read/feel it) 😅 @johnishee: I totally feel you, but: How wondrous is it, WHAT they still bring on track , being just 4 male voices in that passage, isn’t it!? This is lacking so few and shows Voces8‘s abnormal capabilities!!
@@brandonbeierle8515 find a good recording of a large church choir singing these choral arrangements for church choirs and compare them to small groups. It is what it is. Same with the big cathedral choirs in Germany and the UK. I've heard both commercial choirs like this and large cathedral choirs in German cathedrals. They just "hit" differently. It's especially noticeable with the Slavic stuff because of the oktavists singing the double bass parts in the cathedral choirs.
This must be what is sung in heaven. Such a beautiful hymn, sung so perfectly here on earth by VOCES8. Just what is needed in these trying times. Bravo and thank you!!
Sometimes I wonder how it is even possible that the mere human voice can produce such transcending sounds....❤ Listen through headphones for truly the BEST experience❤

This piece sounds so much like his Ave Maria that I performed in high school!does anyone know the history of the two works? Are they both parts of a larger composition? Stunning performance, as always.
Another incredible performance! I wonder how this ensemble manages its perfect timing without (apparently) a conductor?? Is there a screen in front of them with a video of a conductor? I just can't imagine having such a perfect sense of timing and being so together, it is phenomenal!
not apparently… there is no conductor. The recipe goes like this: great musical talents, hard training, much practice, high sensitivity and full concentrated alertness during performance
Three things most importantly: 1) breathing together in the same tempo for each phrase; 2) having someone in the group showing endings by slight head movements; 3) knowing the other singers and their habits really well.
Artists as wonderful as Rachmaninoff need artists as wonderful as you to interpret their work.
Your music is a glimpse into heaven.
I cried and cried and cried listening to this beautiful and moving performance. Thank you so much, my dears VOCES8.
Getting to hear this live in St. Louis in October of 2023 was one of the best moments ever. I love this group so very much.
Une délicatesse si expressive et une harmonie parfaite. Merci pour votre talent et votre travail. Le résultat est merveilleux.
Music composition and performance at the very highest level. The magic of music is a miracle to behold.
Beautiful! And a wonderfully transcendental concert last night... Thank you for being ambassadors of true Beauty!
To bring such beauty and joy through your voices is such a gift. Thank you for sharing!!!!
A wonderful way to start a Sunday morning time of devotion to my Lord!

You prove that there is a singer‘s fortissimo without strain and vibrato, just with stable diaphragm support and good vocal chord control. Bravo 👍

By full-throated you mean? I don’t understand what you mean by this. Could you explain this for me?

Angels are singing around Gods Throne!
Voces8 поют на Русском языке и это очень неожиданно. Спасибо за такое произведение вам и Богу!
Только не на русском, а на церковнославянском :-)
I wish Rachmaninoff could hear this...he would love it. I do too--thank you all so much for the beauty!
So beautiful. Had this when I prayed my rosary. 🙏

Unlike many Western Orthodox choirs the accent is almost always correct in executing the Russian Slavonic lyrics.
Anton Bruckner would be proud of you 😜 Excellent, as usual
Pure joy❤️

How hard is it to hire a bass that can actually hit the second to last note..
