    Nothing like an old school build as far as I'm concerned. The Novas and the 327's were a match made in heaven. The weight of the Nova and the quick revs of the 327's were hard to beat. The 327 was my favorite for about a decade until I got my first 400, but that a story for another day. The first 327 that blowed my mind was in a new 66 SS. A friend was a motorcycle champ at a young age and his Granny told him if he won this certain championship she would buy him a new car for his high school graduation. He did and a couple weeks later he went to the Chevy dealership and ordered a 66 SS with a 327/350 hp with a 4 sp, posi and a lower gear than stock. I think Chevy underrated the hp (I think it was 375+) so it wouldn't have more than their famous Corvette. It was real from the factory race car and the first I had ever been in. By just adding Mickey Thompson slicks and a hurst competition plus shifter that car was the fastest car in town. You could see a couple inches of air under the left front tire when he came off the line. He drove it hard for a couple years without any issues until a baby was on the horizon and he went the opposite direction and traded it for a new 68, 6 cyl Falcon, which he hated for more reasons than one. The Nova was fast no matter what speed he started from. I hope you end up with as much power, fun as he did and as lucky to keep it between the ditches and the rubber side down. They don't like snow by the way, might as well leave it in the garage and call in sick. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

    Wait a minute, did my ears just deceive me, because I didn't hear some obnoxious noise rattling all the sheet metal, and the tel tell signs of a nasty droning noise from the harmonic distortion, that'll make you want to poke your own ear drums out after a few minutes on the highway.
    I know that back in the mid 70's Hurst Comp Plus 4 speed, was two weeks pay minimum, and then you used the old linkage, and found your own knob to shift with.
    Funny thing is, outta all the things I should of had left from the truck I built in the 70's, and didn't sell until the 90's"and I still kick myself for letting the ex talk me into to this day!"
    Is the chrome shifter ball from my M22, that now rides own a older 1967 47.5 hp Massey Ferguson tractor, instead of a 1970 C10 1/2 ton Camper Special w/63 327 375 hp 0.060, making way more than the 47.5 or 375 hp.
    While the old tractor doesn't allow speed shifting, it does bring back a fond memory, every now an then, when I remember the times I smashed my knuckles into the ashtray slamming into 3rd gear, and all the street races that ole truck won, among other things.
    Yeah, I'm glad that you youngsters went with the little 327 over the clapped out 350, and I know you will too, once you get her rollin through the gears.

    What did you mean chech the run out on bellhousing @ 4:08?

    • @NotRodShop
      @NotRodShop  3 роки тому +1

      The hole in the bellhousing needs to be concentric with the pilot bushing within a specific tolerance.

    What throwout fork did you use with that bellhousing?

      It's for a 1972 Chevy C10, but don't expect that to work on a Nova without floor mods.

    I had a old el camino with a hot 283, Lakewood scatter shield, rebuilt Muncie m20, and hurst shifter.
    Was a blast.

    Hello i have a 327 with automatic 2 speed this munice 4 speed will work on it? Wich parts do i need? thanks!! Its for a impala ss 1966

    • @NotRodShop
      @NotRodShop  3 роки тому +1

      You'll need a flywheel, bellhousing and clutch for a pre-1986 sbc. Preferrably a 168 tooth flywheel so you can use an 11" disc. The disc will have to match the spline count of the muncie you get, either 10 or 26. A 72 chevelle would likely show options for both 10 and 26 spline. I believe the cross member and driveshaft for your powerglide will work with a 10 spline muncie. A 26 spline muncie is about 3/4" longer.
