After ridding in a DeHavilland Twin Otter while being transported to my assigned duty station in Alaska I was captured by the spirit of flight---especially bush flying. I got my private ticket in the mid seventies. Being in south Louisiana there are not many opportunities for "bush" flying though. The Otter stopped at several Indian villages on the way to the radar site landing at what is best described as "unimproved" airstrips. It was in the spring and so the the landing areas were muddy and sloppy--only about 1800 feet of usable runway with trees at both ends. I was immediately fascinated by this type flying. This is REAL flying!! Your video are fabulous.
I have had jobs up here where I flew to places all over Alaska in all kinds of planes and helicopters. I’ve been to many of the LRRS sites and even though the runways are impoved, many are one way. One ends in a steep vertical mountain.I know of at least one site that there is an old military transport plane wrecked trying to go around.

By far my favorite video you've put out so far! Please keep sharing more of the whole adventure. I subscribed for all the Cub and STOL flying but keep coming back hoping for more. @@Koji-888 it’s funny you say that, well not so funny. Years ago myself and six other guys were floating a river during summer solstice when it never gets dark. Great flying Greg and what a cool spot. I gotta say though, it seems like you’re tempting fate on this one? Safe flying and looking forward to the next video.

How close are you to stall speed when you take off (near the end of the video) while you're still SLOW and BELOW the tree-line and banking to the right, then left, then right while trying to get out of there? Are you more concentrated on keeping above stall speed when doing this, or are you more concentrated on staying "coordinated" in the turns so that a potential mild stall doesn't turn into a devastating spin? Or both equally?

If you took in a folding saw like a Fiskars you take that small clump of trees down and avoid the hassle of the washout that will probably grow in time. Just a thought. I love love love the videos and wish I could afford to get my license to fly but it is quite pricey in Canada.
if u land your cub in a spot and you raft downstream, how do you go back all the way to your cub? isnt the stream so strong that it wont let you row back?
