      Tattoos are for EVERYONE. If you're really thinking about possibly getting a tattoo, here are some tips: First, find an artist you're comfortable with, and, one whose artistic vision & style speaks to you. And, DO NOT go bargain hunting!!! Can't be stressed enough. A tattoo is forever. It's worth paying for quality.

      If there were more bands like Jinjer then yes, but Jinjer is the only Metal or even rock band I am into right now.
      Typical metal is much more one dimensional and not nearly as complex as Jinjer songs. They are blending styles like no other band, their metal parts always serve a purpose. All 4 band members are outstanding musicians and live performers. So if you are into music of any kind you should be able to recognize the greatness of Jinjer.

    I've seen lots of Jinjer reactions and I keep rewatching this one because I love watching you decide three things:
    1. You should listen to more metal (especially Jinjer) for inspiration, energy and "those kinds of days"
    2. You should learn to growl (who shouldn't!?)
    3. You should get a tattoo because Tatiana's are awesome (the sleeves, but especially the Quetzalcoatl on her larynx!)
    I hope you'll react to more Jinjer, if you do, check out the lyrics beforehand (I love Tatiana's lyrics!)
    I think two songs that you would love for parts of her clean vocals are Perennial (live at Wacken) and Teacher Teacher (official video is clips from three stage performances). Two of my other favorites are: Who Is Gonna Be The One (great protest song) and Home Back (anti war message meaningful for all the band members and really everyone).

They are believed to be the first band to use a dual lead guitar and this prog album was released in 1972. Wow, your´re a great reactor!! I just watched all your Jinjer videos and really enjoyed them! Very laid back and calm but also very insightful and fun. And your deconstruction at end is very enlightening!
    This a truly special and talented band. A breath of fresh air in the genre with this song being a major example. The way they blend reggae with metal so seamlessly and then execute it so brilliantly is a beauty! Sure there are other bands with female singers and growlers in metal, but none reaches the cheer brilliance of Jinjer and Tatiana, nowadays they are just at the top of the game.
    Would really love to get your take on a live performance! The song "Perennial" live at Wacken 2019 is a blast and showcases all of what this band can really do. For an epic journey of music, vocals and visuals, "I Speak Astronomy" official video is a song I think would be right up your alley since you are not so much in growling. Hi Christie, I really appreciate your open approach to new genres and esp. metal genre. For me this is one of the great things about music, there is always something new to create and explore. I think, people should not get tamer with age, but more open-minded and willing to experiment in interesting fields with the wider perspective of experience. I started in a choir, then progressed to guitar and bass in blues, jezz, heavy rock, electronic music, and with 50 I finally joined my (first?) death metal band with musicians half my age and a fierce growler in front. I might not have had the courage to do that with 15 or 16... Ha, and I got my second tattoo after 25 years. might not be the last. Tattoos in, uhm, "our age" are most probably something very different to tattoos in the twenties of age. We know more of what we want and what decades are and may have different stories that influence what design we choose. The tattoo on Tati's left upper arm is hiding an older portrait tattoo, therefore the strong symmetry, the very dark black contrast design. I guess she was not as happy with the tattoo before anymore, and made something differently awesome out of it, that is somehow brave and beautiful at the same time...

    I don't normally entertain bands with growls/screams, but what Tatiana does compositionally, with not trying to fit in too many words thru those growled passages, along with remarkably clear annunciation "cutting thru" the growling as it were.... it's just so much clearer than any others I've heard. You can actually make out the majority of what she's saying (once your ears are accustomed) on first listen without having to immediately reach for the lyrics sheet. For me, what she does is *undeniable* - integrity is among the most important characteristics for me in musicians I listen to, & I 100% *believe* her when she's doing her thing. As you say, she absolutely is doing what she is supposed to be doing in this existence!
    The other 3 musicians are also all excellent at what they do. The compositions, with their multi-movement epicness, often massively contrasting textures, and brain-engaging angular timings which they seem to be able to employ without losing groove (this is witchcraft as far as I'm concerned! LOL).... technical excellence all round without sacrificing *feel* is a heady mixture, and exceedingly rare. Over the last 18 months or so, they have become my new favourite current band.... which is all the more remarkable considering I've never previously bought an album from anyone with growls & screams!! :)

  • @XwoooahX
    @XwoooahX 2 роки тому

    You are correct, growling uses false vocal folds for the distortion and you sing through it in a head voice or falsetto voice which sounds like screaming but it isn't. You can hurt your voice with it if you try to push your voice too hard or actually start real screaming through the technique just like you would with normal singing but you will notice even though the vocal effect sounds like it would be louder than normal singing its not. It's the same or sometimes even less loud. To achieve the harsh sounds seen here there is no vocal strain.

    She is awesome and as you said there are more women using this vocal technic, (Morgan Lander/kittie, Ángela Gussow/arch enemy, Alyssa White Gluz/the agonist, arch enemy etc,etc) but Tatiana's growling skills i think is the best, besides the support of the amazing musicians in the band, the lyrics and great atttitud makes Jinjer what it is

    Because you asked; The throat tattoo is a picture of a Quetzalcoatl, the feathered Serpent from Aztec mythology. I have no idea about the other tattoos at all. I only know this because the question came up in an interview ( I love Jinjer and I like tattoos, but personally I am less interested in that interview wise, I'm more interested in how they end up making such amazing metal)
