    I find it hily hilarious that Mordred would acually make fore a good administrator, just imagine Ritsuka failing at like paying Cheldeas taxes so she just yanks them out of the chair, puts on a pair of glasses and does it herself with a baffled Ritsuka just staring in shock how Mordred can not only make sense of this but is also insanley good.

      It isn't clear how good at such things Mordred actually is. I think it may be less the case that Mordred is really good at governing, but moreso that the other Round Table Knights are brain-dead at it - hence my joke in the video where I have Lancelot act like he doesn't know what taxes are.

      @@neptuneplaneptune3367 From what I understand, Artoria didn't deem Mordred as being "unfit" to be King, but rather was trying to (in her own awkward way) spare Mordred from the burden of Camelot's throne without explicitly saying as much to Mordred. This would add a tragic twist to the end of their story prior to them both becoming Heroic Spirits, as it would indicate that both deeply cared about the other but were unable to properly convey as much, and this led to a massive misunderstanding on Mordred's part that ultimately results in the Battle of Camlann.
      But that is mainly just what I've heard from friends who are a bit more knowledgeable about Fate than I am, so that could certainly be inaccurate.

    I will say that in one of the more recent NA events Gareth actually specifically brought up how she wanted to be a cool older sister to Mordred. This kinda blew my mind because while I knew it to be true from a lore perspective and Gareth has always acted a bit like an older sister to Mordred... to my knowledge they had never brought up that connection so explicitly before despite years of both characters sharing screen time. Almost like they had just assumed people would know only to realize that they'd never actually said it out loud and decided to clear it up beyond any doubt.

I had accidentally washed my phone and I consider it the single greatest tragedy of my account being out of commission for a full week. I am fairly convinced that I remember this interaction but it wouldn't be the first time I mixed up something I read out of game with something I read in-game. So there’s been more interactions between the two. Mordred acts like a bratty younger sister, but Gareth never gives up on her and continues to care for her and it makes me think that Mordred is very privately touched by this even if she acts tsundere.
      Plus I think there’s a lore note somewhere that Gareth was the only friend Mordred had who cared about her. It also made me think that if she lived, Gareth would’ve been able to stop Mordred’s rebellion before it got off.

    Interesting to think that, if given the chance, Mordred could have actually been an effective monarch, if perhaps an unorthodox one in behavior. No, it's canonically confirmed she would not be a good ruler, especially during the times of Arthurian Legend of Fate. It has been said that even if Mordred had been accepted as a heir to the throne of Arthur, then she would've desired more and more to the point she would've teared everything down. This is implied to be the case of Proto-Arthur and his Mordred
      **"She didn’t even think of asking to be loved. If at least… if at least some**
      **interest had been shown towards her, if she had been at least looked at,**
      **that alone would have been enough.**
      ***What a foolish thing to say. You would never have been satisfied. You would***
      ***have endlessly sought love, sought compassion and finally sought the right to***
      ***the throne, until you spoiled that peaceful rule in the end-***
      **A whisper came from deep inside her. Though she felt irritated at it,**
      **she also agreed with it."**
      (Apocrypha Volume 4, Chapter 2, page 186.)
      It doesn't help the fact that the Fall of Camelot as an event is timelocked, and it needs to happen to progress human history forward.

    11:14 With how loud and "in your face" Mordred is in Fate, it's kind of hard to imagine her as a more quiet background character. But when Tristan in LB6 lists the Knights of the Round Table (as he knew them at their prime), he gives Mordred the epithet "taciturn", so Fate Mordred also knew how to not stick out, when she chose to.
    14:38 There may still have been some kind of prophecy involved in Mordred's Fate backstory. In Enkidu's second interlude, Mordred mentions a prophecy (without elaboration) among the other important factors in her life. Not sure, if this is elaborated on anywhere else.

      My guess is that Mordred was a fairly quiet kid with a subdued sense of self due to being raised under Morgan's thumb. It was only after warming up to the Round Table after a few years that she developed the personality that we've come to know in an attempt to express herself and win Altria's approval. Obviously she failed and the results of that were tragic for everyone but the attempt itself says a lot about her given her circumstances.

Wich you think there mutual hatred would be a sort of bonding experience fore them but its more likley that as they hate Morgan, they hate anything to do with her and so dont want to aknowlege each other as siblings, maybe to avoid unecessary drama ore cause they...just flat out dont like each other all that much with the exception of Gawain and Garath wich is why they have somwhat of a sibling bond but not with any of the others. Altaugh I could imagine this as a fun episode in somthing like Grand Carnival where Fairy Morgan forces them all into a famaly dinner with Ritsuka there too as the father. Interestingly enough when Arturia went to France it wasn’t to chase down Lancelot it was to actually establish diplomatic connections with the Western Roman Empire due to Britain technically being a brake-away state of the empire the Romans had been applying diplomatic pressure to Britain so Arturia brought most of her knights as a form of gunboat diplomacy to basically tell the Romans they can either be allies or enemies this apparently worked as she does end up in Rome during the Garden of Avalon

    One of my favorite concepts for Mordred is if she had succeeded in her rebellion and became king of Camelot.
    I came up with two, along with which class and her summoning to Chaldea:
    - Pretender: Leans into the "clone" and admiration for her "dad". Realizing that she couldn't initially handle the responsibility, she invokes the image of King Arthur to make it easier. Eventually, she herself thinks and becomes Artoria.
    When summoned, she's basically looks like Base Artoria's third ascension but red and slowly becomes herself while still maintaining her dad's image (first ascension Artoria but with Mordred's head).
    She still has identity issues, moreso if she is just another Artoria or her own person.
    - Mordred, the last King of Camelot (class undecided): a what-if of Mordred from Apocrypha who, through some timey-wimey loophole bs, goes back moments before the rebellion began. She succeeded in pulling out the Sword of Selection and challenges Artoria in battle. She wins and becomes worthy of inheriting Excalibur, and inheriting the throne. She ultimately tries her best in extending Camelot's reign but it dies a slow, agonizing death.
    When summoned, her look resembles a draconic version of the Lion King. While the people of Camelot thought of Artoria as a tyrant, they saw Mordred as one in the kingdom's dying days. Her third ascension is more regal and knightly, and her demeanor is mature and kinder. She acts like Chaldea is her long-awaited vacation after all the stress of her responsibilities as King.

    • @terrencenoran3233
      @terrencenoran3233 10 місяців тому +7

      Additional notes (because I'm doing this thru my phone and not my laptop):
      - All the Round Table Knights are weirded out by Pretender King Mordred. This also includes Artoria.
      While she does look similarly to her dad, there's an uncanny valley that they notice about her, like someone wearing their King's skin and acting the assumed identity. The way she speaks is also very strange. A twisted version of how Mordred thinks Artoria would speak but obviously through the former's bias.
      - [The Last King of Camelot] has two Noble Phantasms, *Excalibur Mordred* and *Round Table: The Golden Age.*
      Excalibur Mordred is just Excalibur but red. That's it.
      Round Table: The Golden Age is her summoning her memories of the Round Table and the specters of the knights themselves, including Artoria. It's used as a last resort and with each specter's defeat, her memories of them disappear.

    • @Gambit17
      @Gambit17 8 місяців тому +2

      This actually reminds me of something. There's a tabletop RPG in the works by a company in Europe called "The Winter King." The basic gist is that it's an alternate universe where Mordred survives the Battle of Camlann and takes the throne, and the game basically revolves around the players having to deal with his forces. If I were to run a game of it, I would be tempted to integrate Fate's version of Mordred into the storyline in some way. I had two main ideas about it.
      Mordred as a villain: The party ends up encountering Mordred at some point, expecting Mordred to be a man, only for it to turn out that she's a woman. She looks at them, smirks, holds up her sword, yells "Clarent Blood Arthur!" and the party wakes up in the castle's dungeon or something. She would then end up being the main antagonist.
      Mordred as a hero: I actually had a couple of main story ideas about this one. Either the party is captured and hauled into a dungeon, where they meet Mordred in one of the cells, or the party hears rumor of a mysterious knight, fully clad in red and silver armor, fighting off the evil king's soldiers. If the party goes to investigate and help the knight, it would be revealed that the knight is none other than Mordred. Either way, she would explain that the Mordred who has been behind everything so far is a pretender to the throne and to her name, and that she would offer to work with the party to reclaim Camelot. If they succeed, I would love to have a scene where the party accompanies her to the Sword of Selection, where she would finally draw the sword from the stone and properly take up the throne (Hey, as I said, it's an alternate universe).

    One thought I had as to why Artoria would leave Mordred as regent of Camelot in her absence, even after the "sour note" that their previous interaction ended on, could have been that it was Artoria trying to subtly show Mordred that she _did_ trust and care about Mordred, but had other reasons for refusing to allow Mordred to become her heir. This would make sense, given Artoria's personality and how she viewed the duty of being King. As Artoria very likely rejected Mordred as a possible heir not out of spite or hatred, but because Artoria wanted to spare Mordred from having shoulder the burden of Camelot's throne, but she didn't know how to properly connect with Mordred even knowing that they were related.

    To be completely honest, Mordred might be the most relatable character in Fate for me personally. I get never quite feeling like you fit in, feeling like nothing you do will ever really be good enough for the people around you, not being quite sure of who you are supposed to be. To a lesser degree than Mordred, I get that feeling of not really being what your parents expected you to be. I even get the Mordred's issues with gender, as my own relationship with gender is complicated and bit confused. Because of that, even though I don't agree with some of Mordred's choices, I feel an immense amount of sympathy for them. They'd probably be my favorite Saber if not for the fact that, for sentimental reasons related to how I got introduced to the franchise in the first place, Altera wasn't already my favorite

    • @CrazyYurie
      @CrazyYurie  10 місяців тому +3

      She's very relatable to me too for many of the reasons you mention. I struggled quite a bit with finding identities that I could call "home", but eventually just ended up deciding to follow my own path and to not care what to call it. As for Altera... Fate/Extella? That's where I first met her. :D

      @@CrazyYurie Exactly! I was in a Gamestop in early 2017 with a just enough holiday money to buy one game, so I decided just to look around and buy the first thing that caught my eye, which wound up being the Extella collector's box. The art and character designs really grabbed my attention. So I bought it, and jumped in pretty much blind. It was confusing as hell at first, but I had a lot of fun. But for some reason, Altera's route really hit me emotionally, and convinced me that I NEEDED to learn more about this franchise, which eventually lead to it being one of my favorite franchises ever.

      Fate's version of that story is among the weirder ones, tbh: Merlin acts as a "cock wizard", then Morgan gets ahold of some of Artoria's "juice" to make a clone. The versions where Morgan and Arthur just do incest is comparatively straight-forward.

    How does Gallahad work well, in Fate Lancelot is more considered a womanizer than in the myth where he only had eyes for Guinevere. He had Gallahad most likely very early on (17,18y)
    So the story of being assaulted would fall flat, cause his affair with the Queen started after she was married to Artoria. Lancelot is 3 years older than Artoria making him about 38 when he died. He said that he fell for Guinevere when they started to spend more time together because both wanted to lessen Artorias burden. So technically Gallahad can be at least around Mordreds physical age.

    Can someone help me out, or say I am wrong.... So Excalibur though we often don't see its true form unless she is killing a spaghetti monster controlled by a perverted French men.
    I think it's safe to say it's bad ass looking. Even if pretty simple for such an epic sword of Legend.
    But the rest of the round fools weapons are all mega trash right? Morgrid and Gawain I am mostly looking at. They look like bad he man knock offs and that's being nice. Or am I crazy?? They look dull and plastic like? Let's be real what other anime can you say the swords suck in? It's rare and the other fate weapons are usually rad dad. That's all I got.

    • @CrazyYurie
      @CrazyYurie  10 місяців тому +4

      With the understanding that I haven't done the full research dive into all of the weapons the Round Table knights used just yet? It varies. Excalibur was noted as being exceptional, so there's nothing odd there. Rhongomyniad though was just a normal lance. Gawain's Galatine is noted as being comparable to Excalibur. Mordred's Clarent was a Ceremonial Sword. Galahad's sword was notable and found itself stuck in a stone like Excalibur, but we don't even have a name for it. From there my knowledge gets more hazy. x_x

  • @Th3GAMP
    @Th3GAMP 10 місяців тому +2

    Fun fact: In arthurian Legend, Clarent is way stranger than Excalibur, making the main reason Mordred won against Arthur, Mordred was way weaker compared to arthur, basically in legend Mordred is a normal human in terms of strenght and speed, and Clarent buffed him to be on Arthur level
    This really shows how skillful Mordred was bc he hangs out with literal monsters like Arthur and other knights that are equally super human and make them fear him in battle, again he made people that can fight at mach speed fear him
    Also, It's a shame how unjustified Clarent is in fate, Clarent sould be A+ at least

    • @nightshadoew436
      @nightshadoew436 6 місяців тому +2

      Clarent gets a debuf in Fate. It is supposed to be the sword of a king/sucesor of the king but Mordred stole the sword so it's rank gets reduced and it doesn’t give the stat buffs it would normally give to it's wielder.
      Tho I agre it should be an A rank since it is compared directly to Caliburn (It is normally a B rank but gets reduced to a C in Mordreds hands)
