    Nice of Volvo to put the TB where you can’t even see it. I got a code indicating Idle Air Control issue. Took awhile before I realized it’s built into the TB

    This procedure worked with my 2004 XC70 2.5T. The main thing is to be able to work with a mirror to address the 4 bolts attaching the TB. The air cleaner housing has to come out. It's also a good time to replace the PCV breather suction "J" hose while able to work under the input manifold.

    Good instructions on removal, however when I installed the throttle body back on the intake manifold. I used a bungy cord or a large zip tie to wrapped around the throttle body and intake manifold to hold the throttle body in place in order to get the 4 bolts started. I've also taken off the intake manifold whitch is a little more involved but its a lot easier to install the throttle body though once you have it off. .

    My 2.5t s60 is going crazy. I know it's the throttle body but Idk if I have the strength.

    Referencing this video to figure out how to run seafoam spray in my 2001 S60 T5. Going to try that first (with the added bonus of using the seafoam smoke to check for leaks) then run redline in the gas tank... And come back for TB removal and cleaning if necessary. Has a little bit of a shake at idle but she's been left sitting for years with only occasional drives. Do you think it's possible to reach just the end of the lower pipe you removed that attaches to the throttle body? I just need to be able to loosen it up and get a straw in there

    If I replace it or clean it, should I replace the PVC system as well? Is that's what's leading to it or is it the intercooler going into it? Replace that?

    How long shouuld it take to dis-assemble and then put back together and cost of new part if needed?

      Barb elliott. My volvo is 2006 2.5L T. Had it 3 days when it died on me. Very dissapointed, and the charge for fixing was astronomical. No estimate given and no parts returned or even seen. Law says do otherwise sooooo. Charged for accelerator ?? too. I would like your opinion as to time it should take to replace all components and cost of parts. I have my own idea but would appreciate yours. Thx

      @@barbelliott3999 This one is not easy especially if you don't have a lift... If you watch the video you have to put the nuts and bolts by feel... most of the time you're doing it blind.. Dissembling will not be difficult because you will be able to feel the nuts and bolts.. Putting it together trying to align it with the hole is a different matter.. Also, you will need a long socket extension for the clamp... A new throttle body itself cost over $300 just do an online search.. It maybe possible to just do a clean with new gasket... It should take less than 2 to 3 hours for dissembly, clean, and reassembly if you've done it before. If you're unfamiliar with the work it will take some time to get used to as I have stated before you're reassembling it blind and positioning yourself in awkward position (back aches). Also, time will be added to the process if you decide to pick up a few tools along the way..

    Did you have to take off the radiator hose to do this? Drain the radiator?

    • @DiyProJames
      @DiyProJames  2 роки тому

      No, you don't have to drain it. The most difficult part would be re-attaching the throttle body. Replacing the bolts is basically doing it blind by feel.

    Hello, if you replace the throttle, does the car need to be reprogrammed?

    • @DiyProJames
      @DiyProJames  2 роки тому

      I've done it two ways reset it by removing the battery. I also have done nothing to it and let it run. I think the computer is making adjustments all the time. I'm not a mechanic so it's best to consult one.

    • @DiyProJames
      @DiyProJames  4 роки тому

      @@Sky-qd2mf It's been awhile since I've done this.. So from memory most of the sockets are going to be 8mm 10mm. If the hose clamps have been replaced with non original clamps the sizing of the sockets may be different. What's more important is you will need a long socket extension to clamp off the pipe that attaches to the throttle. When you reattach parts you will most likely be doing it blind by feel...
