One great thing about this video is, you have the camera at the right place for us to see. Well done. I have a 2001 V70XC. Everything I see here looks the same as mine. Currently having a starting issue am suspecting the throttle. You made me want to tackle the job. Well done. That nifty power tool would make a big difference also.

Thanks for the helpful video. Just did this on my 2007 S60 2.5t. This video was very helpful. One thing that I did different was to remove the plastic air deflector pan from under the engine so I could get to the ETM (Throttle Body) directly with a long extension. So much easier than working blind. To reinstall, I finger tightened the ETM bolts blind, and then torqued from underneath...another bonus of this was that since the car was on jack stands, there was much less leaning over which made it much easier on my back for all of the top of engine work.
Awesome..glad I was able to help! Dont forget to subscribe!
I’m getting ready to change mine out on my 09 2.5t will I have to Reprogram it
@@dereknichols3921 I didn't have to

Thanks bro! This help alot!
Thanks for watching
it helps if you take the radiator fan unit out. Only two bolts and one power connector.
At 3:49 ... ooopspsss missing the end of the dip stick. It was there at the beginning of the vid. (Hey, I've done it too!) A suggestion to others watching this 1) remove the entire oil dip stick tube; very easy, one bolt right at the top of the tube (easy to see at 3:54) Secondly, go ahead and remove the bottom of the air box (where the air filter is) - it just popped in on three easy to see plugs. This gives you more room and makes it easy to clean out. I use a big plastic tray laid on the engine to hold tools and small parts. To replace the first bolt of the TBM I used a small super magnet against the threaded end to hold it while I hunted the hole and started turning it in without gravity biting me in the ass. Hey, man, I LOVE your electric screwin' stick!
Great video man!
Thanks for the video , how many time did he say bad boy in the video 🤣🤣

Hi...i see you video and is great..I have a problem with my Volvo S-80 2000 I buy this car and not work. The old owner buy the fuel pump..the computer. Sparks plugs
Fuel pump relay..and never work.
I change the throttle body by secund hand... And the pedal sensor..and work but not..up the rpm only 1500 rpm no more..how can fix the problem..how can reprogramming the throttle and pedal...thank you.
I'm getting code 2112 on an 04 S80 2.5 turbo....is this the part I need to replace? I heard cleaning is not worth the effort? Do I spend the extra $ on the Volvo OEM part?
Do you even know what size socket you're using or are you guessing?
I just grab whatever socket I feel like..don't forget to subscribe 😉
Hey if you happen to see this, my 2004 XC90 just had this issue. We're cleaning it now, but should we just replace it? We have 241,000 miles on the car. It was super dirty, but cleaned up nice. Before putting it back in.. figured I'd ask what you look for or think in terms of replacing it. TY!
I know this is a year old but maybe you'll see this. Did cleaning it make any difference, or did it still need to be replaced? My 2004 XC90 needs this done now but if you had luck with cleaning it first I'll gladly try that!
@@TJBilyk I believe we cleaned it, and it was fine. We have since rehomed this vehicle to someone who is putting in a new engine and going to drive it again. The 3rd cyl valve had some scorch marks on it so it needed to be rehabbed. Instead of doing this, she bought it, and an engine to replace the issue. Then she will be good to go & save all the old but good parts off the engine. I can't upload the dealership receipt I have here, but it explains it better. Basically, we checked everything.. and timing too. The dealership put a camera into it. It was 3rd cyl scorched. Car was running rough and Volvos don't run rough, if they do something bad is going on was what I was always told.
Do you recall what your car was doing before you cleaned this? I have the same 2004 and the problem is it randomly starts idling down and back up then eventually just shuts down. When I start it back up I can get it going but only at 15mph and the rpms are through the roof.
Thanks again for this video it helped me tremendously cleaning my ETM. I'm dong a PCV/oil trap replacement now and wanted to know if I replace the ETM on my 2004 S60 with a new one will it require any type of programming?
I'm considering cleaning the throttle body on an '04 S60 2.4L and want to know if moving the butterfly plate while cleaning will cause problems/throw codes. Do you know?
@@PauleyOCCW It didn't on mine. I cleaned mine about a year before I actually replacing mine. Hope this helps. I highly recommend cleaning the oil box... that's what ended up causing my real problem. Popped a cam seal.
Thx, upload more videos with s60I
Sorry this was a customers car..dont forget to subscribe
The dip stick handle didn't make it. Great video.
Hi And thank you for this video ,it is great to show step by step with explanation .one question what kind of test you have doen ot confirm the the ETM is bad ?i have XC70 2002 and i have cleaned the throttle and since then it is idling and not working properly ?so i thought may be i need to replace but i thought i need to confirm that it is bad and not repairable ?
Did you ever find out if it was the throttle or the comp?
Good video.. Why in the hell are you working in a casual longsleeve...☺😀😁😂😂😂😭

Hey great vid! How long of a job is this?

does a 2006 xc70 throttle body need to be pogramed , is it the same as the s60 in your video, thanks
Joey Lopez not sure..u might want to look into some volvo forums for the answer to that one..
Did you have to have it programmed? If you did, where did you take it?
Do you remember how many bolts hold this on? I've removed 4, but still sticking on there.
I think it was 4..what did I say in the video?sometimes they get a little stuck on there..dont forget to subscribe
@@klowny1969 thanks, it was just 4 (headache to get to all of them lol). It took a little bump to get it loose. Took it apart and repositioned the little "fingers" for the tps. Going to try that... if not, hopefully an aftermarket one will work. $600 bucks is chunk of change.
glad u got it
Hello, this part is same get mi Volvo xc70 2003 ,2.5 l turbo.
mi question : does need a program the new one?
I have a 04 volvo s60 2.5t. I got told it needed programmed. Volvo wanted almost a thousand dollars to do a 2hr job. I bought the part online for under 100 for a brand new one. Then my local mechanic charged 170 to put it in and program it. I also replaced my fuel, and rpm sensor then my fuel pump. My car is running like a straight beast now and fast like brand new
Thank you Master..
Thanks for watching
Hi do i need to disconnect battery in case of removing this throttle?
Yes, any time you work with electronics on a Volvo with a computer disconnect the negative cable especially when working on the front for fear that you can set off an airbag if you don't. When the battery is connected back there is a short relearning process by the computers.
So if I change it out right now I have a reduced engine power code and if I change it out and put a new one in there you’re telling me that I won’t have to get a diagnostic machine and reset it it automatically reset itself
On this year model you don't need a scanner..don't forget to subscribe
Nice vid. Don't work on Volvo's . Buddy you do great work but man don't tell me that's your ride , Na just can't be :)
+Steve Rob lol thank you..not mine..customers car..thanks again for watching :)

Not 100% Sure..but it should be
cool! it looks similar! thanks for the really good video! wish me luck :)
Antonio C awesome good luck
My GOSH why does this seem so complicated! I'll be doing this sometime in the next month.....sadly
Gmail Account welcome to volvo
At 2.20. The pipe. You remove it so easly. Mine is stuck. I can move it but it wont come off. I have been trying with force for over 30 min now. Even used a Crow bar and still no success. Please help
Wiggle and tug..or try loosening the clamp more..it should come off
The clamp was all off. As lose it can get. I warmed it up and manage to get it lose. And now. Im done with it. Fixed the problem. Wouldnt have been able without your vids. Thanks man. Really appriciate it. Subbed and liked :)
It took me 4 hours to get all the stuff removed in the vid. And 20 min to put it all back.
Awesome! Thank you!
And now i have the exact same problem. But without error codes. Damn i love cars.
It needs programming with Volvo software.
