The nozzleman had plenty of time to stretch out his line so the kink is on him. If I were his company officer I’d have them stretching hose all day till I was tired. No excuse for that.
Such professionals they get there and immediately go to work no screaming no yelling. If you watch videos from the east coast it always seems to be the opposite. 🍻LAFD

I’m not against the deck gun option, but I’m also not sure a deck gun would be able to depress enough to hit this particular fire given how close the engine was, the metal fence would’ve gotten in the way as well I’m thinking.
@@Jimmythefish577 Regardless, they would have had to do detail work with hand-lines no matter what. So using a deck gun would really be irrelevant and quite frankly pointless even if it were ideally placed. No need to overcomplicate things.

Almost 6 minutes in before they finally understood that there was a fuel leak from the burning car (there always is on fuel injected cars because the entire fuel system is always pressurized and there is lots of plastic and rubber in the system to burn or melt). Solid stream water just pushes the burning fuel around on top of the firefighting water, and is not effective. I know lots of guys will pull down their zippers and whip out their rulers (I'm female - I can't play your game LOL, but I DO know what I'm talking about). Watch the flames and you will see what I am saying. If I have to spell it out for you I will, but watch the video on a big screen and watch the flames first, BEFORE you argue!
DECK GUN before the neighborhood burns down! Straight Streams put a massive amount of water on a small area and take forever to get the job done. Ever have a 5 gallon can of gas go off in a confined space? Take your time turning off those flames and you may just experience that.
When you hear chain saws before water flows you know LAFD has to be close by.
Nice to see a dept where their firefighters actually use their SCBA.

I don’t care what anyone says in these comments, a car fire inside a garage is a bitch to put out, no no matter what water supply you use…
Kinks kill; flake it out while it's dry.

Apparently these guys missed the training day on how to stretch the hose line. Not something to be proud of IMO.
Could’ve used a foam line for the gas that kept igniting. Whenever you go to a car fire be prepared to use foam to smother leaking gas.

Someone should invent a large gun shaped nozzle that can be mounted on top the rig.

Wouldn't a fog stream been more effective on this fire, instead of a straight stream?
No
No, but the deck gun would have been very effective.

My opinion shoulda hit it with the desk gun 1st then handlines to mop up. But each State and Dept. Has their own policies
