Just heard about 2 Park rangers in Cascadia National Park saving a juvenile sabe after it was pinned under a massive tree during a flash flood, about 5 or 6 other sabe came to the woodline and started throwing rocks and causing a scene until one of the rangers yelled "hey! If we don't help him now he is going to die! Do not interfere!" And they stopped, then the winch on the rangers truck couldn't move the gigantic tree so the rangers stepped to the woodline and said we need your help! Then 5 or 6 sabe stepped out with the 10 ft tall clan leader leading the way, they got the tree off and the alpha sabe scooped up the young one went to walk away and turned around and went to the ranger, the injured sabe stroked the rangers face in appreciation, the big one nodded and they disappeared into the forest. Absolutely amazing!

Steve, for your eye, try a potato. Throw some potatoes in the fridge, cleaned. After an hour take one out, cut in half, lay down, and lay the cut side of the potato over your eye. Not only will this feel f'n awesome, but it will draw out all that crap in your eye. Yes this is a weld flash remedy, but it works for all kinds of eye irritations, and I bet this will help your condition immensely. If anything, cold will help with that damned inflammation you have rock'n right now. Stay up brother, watch that next step, Love, Light and Freedom.

That's the same advice welders will give you if you get flash burn. I tried it myself but didn't have any luck, but I also had a severe case of it. I've tried several things to relieve the pain and discharge from my eyes when I would get flash burn, but have yet to find something that works. A while back you could get eye drops over the counter that contained a numbing agent. Sadly that is not an option anymore here in the States.

A story about Cotton mouths or water moccasins…
My husband and I pulled into a BIG slue on Logan-Martin Lake in East Central Alabama. Our intent was to get out of the boat and float around on the water a while. It was a very beautiful, peaceful little slue and we were enjoying ourselves in the cool water and hot sun!
Suddenly, I started seeing “sticks” bobbing up and down in the water around us. One moved close enough for me to see it clearly. IT WAS A MOCCASIN!!!
I immediately told my husband that there were snakes in the water all around us. He told me it was just my imagination.
I told him… imagination or not… I was getting out of that water!!! He said, “go ahead” but this water is GREAT!
I got out of the water and back on the boat! Then, I sat for a few minutes observing the bobbing “sticks” around us.
My husband decided to paddle around a bit on the raft. As he was putting his hand back to paddle, he got an up close and personal look at one of the “sticks”, a very BIG one. At that point He REALIZED that it was, in fact, a big ole ‘moccasin swimming just a couple feet from him.
With as little disturbance as possible so as not to draw undue attention, he made his way back on the boat! Once back on board, he also noticed that we were totally surrounded by these “sticks”, moccasins!
We grabbed some binoculars and started looking at the banks.
Now, where we were swimming was 30 ft. deep based on the depth of our anchor. It was also at least a half mile to three quarters wide. We had always been told that the snakes would not swim out to the deepest part and we would be safe out in the middle of the slue, where it was deepest!
We learned that the old fisherman’s tale was just WRONG! They will swim right on out to the deepest part of the slue.
Now, the banks on either side… one side was heavily wooded and just dropped off into the water. The other side however, was a HUGE SLIDE full of more snakes than we could even count. Some were still small but others were HUGE… long and fat!
We were amazed by what we saw and may I say, more than a little weak in the knees when we realized that we had been swimming with a bunch of moccasins on “spa day”!!!
We learn a very important lesson that day! We were very thankful that we didn’t have our bunch of kids with us! They would have been traumatized for LIFE!!!
My youngest daughter had already been bitten by a poisonous spider at Girl Scout camp(crawled in her sleeping bag with her), so she was already skittish about the Great Outdoors!
I grew up galloping through the woods… could skitter up a mountain side with no trouble. But… I had NEVER seen so many snakes, of ANY kind, gathered and sunning themselves as we saw on that day!
And THAT … is my ALABAMA SNAKE STORY!!!
Steve, please be very careful! They can sneak up on you before you know it! They do have some great Anti-venoms now, but it is a lengthy and nasty process to heal! Please, Brave Warrior, STAY VIGILANT in “them there woods” in Alabama!!! 😁🪱🐍
PS. We do have some gators roaming around too! Folks bring them back from the beach and set them loose in the waters when they get too large! Use to drive over the Coosa River everyday… could see them from the bridge.
This is the same general area where a hunter shot a Sasquatch and he & his wife were later disappeared! 😮😢
Maxwell-Gunter AFBs are nearby as is the Air War College.

I think that they started the program years ago around Grand Rapids but I’m sure they have planted them closer to home so they don’t have to transport the whole class clear down to GR.
There is also a population in the Pinckney area and the Waterloo game area. A few years ago a couple of dogs were struck by one on a paved trail. Gotta love the do-gooders.

I have offered to buy snake boots, those leg guards, etc. He always says, we don't see snakes that often. Then I say, it's that one you don't see I am worrying about. And, in his work, hobby too, most of the time, he's looking up for birds. He's never gotten into hunting or fishing, and I can't decide if that's a good or bad thing. He's always been into reptiles and amphibians, long before he settled into a passion for saving endangered birds. But, I worry cause he's a little ADHD like me. Something exciting happens and that can totally distract either of us from things like watching where you're stepping, etc. He's 26, an avid hiker, camper, earned his Eagle Scout Award, so I have to trust that he's being careful. He's also got a GF who lets him have it if he does anything too risky. And, she's nearly a med school graduate. So I try to remember, at least if she's w/him, she'll know what to do under pressure! But, they all know I have issues w/spiders and snakes, snakes being far more terrifying! So, they all get a kick out of bringing the non venomous ones in to "show them to me"!?! I've told them while I'm not ancient yet, if they scare me into tripping & braking something, THEY WILL have to take care of me for a change! LOL! We have a creek behind our property and a trail around the neighborhood. Sometimes my husband will cut the grass on the trail when he's cutting the backyard. He went to drop some limbs out of the tractor and a Moccasin fell out of the tree and landed on the tractor right in front of him. He threw it in reverse and the snake slide off the front. But, that freaks me out because I walk the dog on that trail all the time! I WOULD have a heart attack if one fell on my head! He wouldn't have to bite me, just fall on me! LOL! I guess we forget sometimes that no matter where we live, there are dangerous creatures we should attempt to avoid when possible. The neighbors probably think I too am obsessed w/birds, seeing me looking up so frequently. But I am really just trying to avoid snakes from falling on my head! LOL! 😂 Fun times, have to enjoy them whenever we find them. Blessings to you and yours, and all the friends here! 🕊️

Always remember to protect your eyes when traveling at any speed more than walking.. Funny.. , I even bought our beloved Conie Corso Mastiff a set of special doggie goggles for her.. She really loved poking her massive head out the rear side windows of the SUV and smelling the real world. I would only allow her to poke her head out the windows when she was secure and harnessed in with a 2inch heavy duty seatbelt setup.., and her goggles on… 😂 All it takes is one little bug, or dirt debris to cause her pain and discomfort and me a big vet bill.! Funny the host didn’t have protective gear and goggles for all his guests..? El

    Steve,
It is so good to see you blending in down south in my country, you are a natural and as soon as you become accustom to the various forms of animals that can take you out, you can start to learn the language. With all of your experience and skills, you are a natural to be in the heart of patriotism to the constitution and individual freedom and the pursuit of Liberty and true Independence. Bring Sarah and the kids and join us forever.
Now I know that that is not practical and I understand your love for Vancouver Island and the BC Coastlands. But, you are living in the worst transitional tyranny of a former parliamentary democracy, so if it gets too unbearable, you would be welcome anywhere that you chose.
I think that you might be surprised to know that we grow Black Bears that might start to be as big as those around your house. I live in Georgia and it might not be current, but I saw in a state game and fishing magazine that a new state record Black Bear had been killed in the mountains weighing in at around 665 +/- lbs. it was a big boy. Anyway, just remember that the snakes don’t want anything to do with you unless they feel threatened. That is except for the cottonmouth which is the most aggressive viper around. Now with that said, you would not want to startle a large Southeastern Diamondback Rattlesnake, aka, the Cain Break Rattle Snake which used to be fairly common and ran in the range of 10’ to 12+’ in length and have a body thickness of as large as a man’s thigh in diameter. But as it turns out, those were extremely old snakes and the majority have been displaced by habitat destruction and hunting. But you can die just as fast from a baby rattlesnake or even a Pigmy Rattlesnake, which can have a bit of an attitude for their size. But as I say, just learn to pick them out visually and leave them alone unless relocation is required.
Another point of information, copperheads don’t want to wast their venom on people or domestic animals. Their first strike is a warning strike and they have small heads and fangs. My wife was bitten about 10 years ago by a 39” female, that was looking for chipmunks and mice, and she thought that she had been stung by a bee/wasp until 4 days later when the swelling and itching became a problem. She could not see the strike area clearly on her upper back ankle, and asked me to put some more antibiotic and a bandage on it. When I looked closely, I could see a pair of very close together fang marks, but it was obvious that they had not really penetrated very deeply. However, she went to the doctor, who said that it wasn’t the venom to be worried about usually from a copperhead, it is the bacteria within their mouths, and she received oral antibiotics and everything was fine within a few days.

The idea of Sabe being able to absorb all colours except Inrfra Red, is really interesting. The infrared being the only colour they reflect which we can't see, but other animals can. This must be on the same principle that we see all coloured objects. White objects reflect all colours back at the same time, black objects absorb all and reflect none, while the object we see with specific colours are reflecting that colour back to our eye, and absorbing the rest. You have to wonder if it is a feature of their skin and hair pigmentation. Octupi can change their skin colour on demand. Some squid can create wonderful moving patterns by altering the colours of something called a chromataphore in their skin, at will. With these physical attributes already existing in nature, it is not a big leap of faith to attribute the same qualities to Sabe.

For Real , I had a little bit of eyeliner on my eyes and I had makeup remover wipes to remove the eyeliner, well we also had some cleaning wipes for cleaning.. anyways I did one eye and used the last cleanser , so I squished closed one eye and had to search for another bag of wipes, well I found a bag , but didn't realize it was for cleaning the counter tops , those had bleach in them , so I pulled one out wiped my other eye and after I was done my eye was burning and non- stop watering.. omg !!! So painful, and hurt and gushing water - It made me almost insane... I got under the sink spigot and blasted cold water on that eye , but it started making both eyes water , and I had an appointment to go to... I had to drive , I could see outta the good eye , but the other was driving me nuts .. still watering , made it there n back , ( on a hail Mary pass ) I ran to the sink n just kept rinsing n rinsing .. then I had to get an ice pack and lay down... after most of the day passed , it finally stopped - but honest, as I said , at it's worst , there was nothing I could do and it truly almost drove me over the edge .. I feel ya , and I hope you find out and fix what is going on with that eye , blessings to you n your eye 🙏✨🙏

Cottonmouth (Agkistrodon piscivorus) is a species of venomous snake, a pit viper in the subfamily Crotalinae of the family Viperidae. It is one of the world's few semiaquatic vipers (along with the Florida cottonmouth), and is native to the Southeastern United States. As an adult, it is large and capable of delivering a painful and potentially fatal bite. When threatened, it may respond by coiling its body and displaying its fangs.Individuals may bite when feeling threatened or being handled in any way. It tends to be found in or near water, particularly in slow-moving and shallow lakes, streams, and marshes. It is a capable swimmer, and like several species of snakes, is known to occasionally enter bays and estuaries and swim between barrier islands and the mainland. Although deaths are rare, the bite can leave scars, and on occasion, require amputation. Absent an anaphylactic reaction in a bitten individual, however, the venom does not cause systemic reactions in victims and does not contain neurotoxic components present in numerous rattlesnake species. Bites can be effectively treated with CroFab antivenom; this serum is derived using venom components from four species of American pit vipers (the eastern and western diamondback rattlesnakes, the Mojave rattlesnake, and the cottonmouth).

I had a thought yesterday about a situation I was in while driving. A car from a side road pulled in front of a truck that was heading towards me in the opposite lane. When the truck swerved to miss the car, it started sliding/spinning on the icy road right dead-on towards me. I had a coworker with me and when the time slowed, we looked at each other, then back to the road as we knew we were going to get blasted.......All of a sudden, the truck seemed to be 'pushed' as it then headed for a telephone pole which it crashed into.....The physics did NOT make sense. The inertia of the truck spinning and going straight then all of a sudden just goes sideways did not make sense to either of our eyes/brains. I remember I kept saying that it looked like the truck was PUSHED out of the way......The coworker agreed, but never wanted to discuss it afterwards. Not saying it was Sasquatch, but I am starting to think maybe those of us that has had contact since a child, may have guardians of sort.......Just projecting my thoughts, nothing more. Luckily, there were no injuries to anyone involved.......But if that truck would have stayed on course....well.......
