- Helldivers 2 recently released the trailer for their new update, Escalation of Freedom. All of the new enemies and missions they added look amazing! But more importantly, the latest content implies a ton of new and interesting lore.

the little bug in the container is actually a baby hive lord. it has the same face shape as the hivelords from hell divers 1
No, you can’t be sure of that, we haven’t encountered an actual hive lord yet.
@@haouribi I think i once saw a video that explained some leaks, apparently its called hive lord larva in the game's code
@@haouribithere already are some dead hive lord bodies scattered across terminid worlds so we kinda did
😃😃😃
There are two different types of backpack larvae based on information from the data minors, a hive lord being one of the two types
That tank repair facility is actually already in the game, you can sometimes see tanks getting fixed in the heavy outposts
Since the beginning
sometimes there working! yay. (not yay)
Yeah I’ve seen a ton of those. They’re usually medium-sized automaton bases.
I even saw some troopers welding and repairing as well
@@omerkethuda6264 yea I see them all the time
My hypothesis is that since humanity is no longer controlling the bugs breeding they are mutating back towards what they once were like before the genetic tampering
But more biles I am guessing since bile is now a big part of the bugs now.
5:02 I’m like 90% sure the repair/construction arms have been in the game since launch
They have been, I've seen them all over
The bugs probably operate like the orcs in Warhammer 40 K, they use spores those spores become scavengers in those scavengers become nursing spewers, and it just continues
Yeah. I was reading ork lore and I just learned that Pretty much every planet that has ork spores is screwed
@@orgenriggen4568unless you use fire
That would make a lot of sense how they are travelling through space then. They hitch a ride on other spaceships.
@@natesgamebox that could be it that’s probably why the hell divers decontaminate so that way terminates don’t grow on the ship
@natesgamebox they arnt traveling. We're farming them and then our farms break. Either that or we ARE the farming method
fun fact: bug corpses can spawn on bot planets which makes me think that the bots also use them for E-710. We know that the bots have oil because that is what they bleed when you shoot them we also know that E-710 is oil soooo
edit: in the game files the bug larva is called "hive lord larva"
E-710 is not oil. It is warp drive fuel. The automatons are not powered by warp drive fuel, they are powered by oil
@@sprinkleman8103 it is meant to be a reference to oil. 710 is oil hte 0 is the o trhe 1 is the i and the 7 is the l
the spore chargers might be related to the warriors we can find also covered in green pustules. maybe exposure to termicide early in the development like as a warrior or scavenger will lead to the chargers we find later
The warrior varient only has the green stuff on it because that's it's sub-adult stage before reaching adulthood; becoming a bile titan
It would first become a bile spewer i assume@@Electro_728
@@Electro_728 you could be right yeah, but I always assumed the scavengers warriors were the less developed version of the chargers, while the spitter and bile spewers were the ones to develop into bile titans
also the charging behaviour is already displayed in the brood commander or whatever they're called which I assume to be the stage between warrior and charger
@@Julia-fu7ks the spore chargers are probably the stage between bile spewers and bile titans
Liberty day is October 26th, we should expect some pretty big, maybe even illuminate big
If I don't get my musket I'm rioting
That, would be awesome. And make some sense.
@@Azrael178 REAL
That implies there's even anything left by october after the constant f ups.
Next month Space Marine 2 releases. It'll likely siphon a lot of players away - me included.
October 11th, Starship Troopers Extermination releases on all platforms fully - including it's mode with Rico. Which will siphon even more people away.
Nobody wants to play a game that nerfs the fun out of it with every update, while the devs are saying "don't worry we're listening, we won't nerf anything more we promise!" - and then nerf more. On top of the new content only being available to the minority playing T10
@@shoulderpyro they got enough money on lunch week to support a development size team for this game for 8 years. They still have two to three times bigger playerbase then they expected to have and they are still much, much more popular than a vast majority of still supported service games. You are delusional if you think that this game is going anywhere.
Automatons have always had human brains, back in HD1 they were cyborgs, and they were called cyborgs because they still had a significant portion of their original human bodies, we call them automatons now because they have advanced to a point that there is no recognizable human parts left
Incredible lore drop
They are called automatons to make it easier to kill them
My theory is that bugs and the spores have a symbiotic relationship. Unconnected but dependent. Bugs live in and consume the flora (muck) created by the growing spores, and the spores spread with the bug infestations, that’s why landscapes are always transformed by bug presence, it is the spores growing out from a healthy and populated place were they were shake off by bugs. The spore charger acting like many similar symbiotic relationships in nature, where plant seed connects (like burrs) to an animal to move it away from its source
Spore chargers are probably just a mutation response. Since helldivers use ranged weapons and that's basically the bugs biggest weakness, having a cloud of concealment similar to smoke makes sense as a natural response. Nursing spewers do that so it's nothing new and they're very effective.
That makes perfect sense! I was only thinking about what it did offensively. But it is a great defense against the helldivers.
It does track.
Plus, if we get to Gloom covered planets and they look like Meridia did, the spore chargers would make it loads harder to see on an already very spore-dense world (going off meridia), made even worse given how the Gloom looks.
the ship seen in the update image thing looks maybe like the ships they used to invade the valdis and surrounding sectors after they were wiped out the first time. and I believe that the terminids spread via spores projected into space, multiple dispatches have alluded to terminid spores being emitted from planets being directly tied to how fast they can move to new planets
Yeah, those are already confirmed as an Automaton Warship. It might possibly be a new boss enemy and have its own combat track
@@Julia-fu7ks the distances in interstellar space are massive tho. Like it would take the terminids centuries if not millenia to jump systems, so IMO its more likely that when a new planet is invaded, its just terminids that escaped from farms.
@@Nanobot_Swarm I do agree, but otherwise I don't know why the game would talk about the spores this way, maybe they are able to project their spores into the upper atmosphere where they attach to super destroyers. the destroyers then travel to other planets carrying the spores. this would explain why they need the trade routs to travel just like we do
@@Julia-fu7ks does make sense.
Edit: Maybe these spores were originally used by the terminids to rapidly colonize their planet, and were flung hundreds of kilometers away to jump-start hives. Maybe humans also told them that other words exist and what super-destroyers are used for, before learning about E-710. After the first skirmishes, the Terminids directed their spores at parked super-destroyers on pourpose (knowing what they do) hoping to colonize other worlds to avoid extinction.
@@Nanobot_Swarm this sounds smart to me yeah (: as treasonous as it is I do believe the terminids are definitely smart enough to achieve this
The bot ships have been seen in the news for when they took cyberstan
"Upgrades everybody, Upgrades"
Sadly not for the Helldivers
8:42 the bugs come from spores that land and grow eggs and other things for them to survive, the source of the spores is from the gloom
The thing with the Automatons is that their ancestors, the Cyborgs, were humans that seceded from the Super Earth Federation, it only makes sense that they shared a lot with the SEAF and so do the Automatons, they copy our equipment and reverse engineer it, even if they aren't humans anymore (probably) unlike their Creators, they retain the mannerisms of keeping pace while marching with songs, having specialized units and clear command figures on the field (Commissars, also the Bruiser Hulks have what look like Crests on them, FYI)
So at their core, they act like humans, it only makes sense that they'd itirate on their equipment
Also I like ArrowHead's approach of consistency with the Socialist Automatons still having equipment that looks like soviet/russian gear, the new rocket tank looks like the TOZ-1 Buratino Flamethrower rocket battery and the armoured Striders have rocket sleds bolted on the sides like some WWII tanks and they look like soviet RBS-132 anti tank rockets
Also in the trailer, I don't know if it's a mission objective or just cosmetic but we get more evidence that the bots are using us a resource, you can see them grinding what looks to be human blood in some sort of processor
No idea why they are grinding up dead soldiers, but a weird idea I have is that they are trying to gather biomass in order to create organic entities. Like the “grotesque” from Helldivers 1
A theory I have, maybe they need the blood of people to fuel them instead of E710 or other traditional fuel sources. As well, it was theorized that the bots harvest the brains of SEAF forces to put into their bots. Perhaps the berserkers are the “grotesque” of the automatons since they look more botched and quickly put together. As well they look more “veiny” than usual as some divers report blood vessels on some bots.
Or they are doing a ultrakill reference. Blood is fuel
@@tez07770 imagine if the rumours are true that maybe the *CYBORGS* join their ranks they would need some food ..or Biomatter to ''fix them''
@@Schproemftell exactly
I hope they make a kinda mini game from the automatons space ships, like something you have to do in space
So the automatons made a giant blender to reuse the bodies of the enemies they kill as fuel.
Hmmm, where did I heard something like that before...
that robot salvage arm has been in the game since the first month release, obviously they are the next step[ of cyborgs.
9:05 what you could have is an automaton destroyer can appear on some missions and will drop some automaton commandos that serve a similar role to the helldivers as they get dropped into the battle and use guerrilla tactics to hunt down the helldivers and call in support from their destroyer during attacks (or even something similar to the invasions from sniper elite where a player can become the commando although I hope that doesn’t happen because it will start to split up the player base)
From what I've seen the way the bugs seem to invade other planets is with giant space faring spore clouds, at least that's what's been mentioned in major orders. The current major order even has a big spore cloud building up outside Socorro III, you can even see it on the map
Hey Nate for your question on how the bugs travel to other planets, we transport them. If you go back to the training, there are crates with them. Also you can get outside the training area to see it better.
That makes a whole lot of sense. Smart little bugs getting captured so they can get to new planets.
Something cool you can see that I didn't realize before is that if you look into the sky on automaton worlds you can see large shadowy ships firing red lasers(like automaton lasers) at super destroyers. Never noticed it before but I think they are automaton ships!!
I haven't noticed that either! I'll keep an eye out in my next mission
It was mentioned during the shutdown of the TCS, bugs get around by launching "spores" into space, there's gotta be an absurdly strong bug to pull that off though
I imagine the bugs are thinking to a degree, you can split a group up with grenade distractions and they do stop to analyze you before going in for the attack. Sometimes they'll even let you slip by if you kept your distance despite them spotting you. It's rare, but it does happen.
Reason I bring this up is they may both have a hivemind and individual decision making. They're certainly working together but is it without a leader? Who knows (at least in HD2 :3). At this time, we can at least be sure they select a bugs role at birth, to which they can make individual decisions so long as they follow their role which is to protect the hive and patrol utilizing their birth given abilities, along with all the usual stuff like searching for resources to survive.
thinking about the automaton ships if they do become something they can call in maybe we will get missions to get large cannons online to shoot their ships like they do with ours
That would be a fun mission! I'd be down for it
I just woke up went to my UA-cam feed. This is the first video after I had a dream about helldivers 2
Helldivers 2 devs might actually be WAY too good. UA-cam's algorithm too
The Automatons have been repairing things since the start of HD2 no?
Hopefully you can shoot the side rockets on the armored Chicken Walker
not impossible with most Bots you can already destroy their main weapons exceptions are only the Tanks where it leads to the Tanks immediate destruction
That would make sense! They are so exposed it would be easy to take out. Or I wonder if they can't reload those since they are on the outside of the walker. So it launches it's rockets once and it's done.
You can.
The space ship in the poster is the same one shown during the TV announcement when the automaton attacked in mass back then
I'm sure someone has already let you know or you've stumbled across it since you've made the video because this isn't really deep cut lore, but the terminids spread by spores that can survive outer space and land on other planets, that then start to reproduce
The automaton spaceships look oddly like the super destroyer, but if the eViL viLLiaN made them. We might be crushed by new types of hellpods that don’t have Helldivers in them. They might have bots in them.
It'd be cool if there was a secondary objective that was "intercept convoy" where you'd have a limited amount of time to stop a heavily protected automaton convoy from delivering a prototype to one of their bases. There would be an armored engineering vehicle (basically turretless tank) towing a wrecked factory strider/tank. Destroying it would drop samples, given you can stop the convoy from reaching its destination. Would be nice to see a moving and/or more varied objectives, miss the SAM field and mining convoy objectives (yes sam is an objective in HD2 but I miss having to activate three of them at once.) defuse ordinance can stay in Hd1 :3
At 3:05 in the vid you can see the flesh exposed BUT ITS WAY LESS than in HD1 and alot thinner plus more armor. Some good wellplaced shots are really gonna be needed
Imagine if the bots actually get strats like the divers do your running and this bots chucks a 500Kg or what ever bomb air strike something at you that would be a nightmare like could be awesome and terrifying to
With the way super citizens use stratagems I've learned to not get hit by them lol
My friends really do be taking me out more then the enemies...
@@natesgamebox I can’t tell how many times I have either killed one of my squad mates been killed my own strat because it bounces back at me
i think the terminids latch on or hide on space craft that are going to uninfested planets
THEORY:The termind spores are so important because hive lords use them as commands so a hive Lord from estanu will send spores to fori prime and tell them to attack garcrux or whatever that why I think the spores keep getting mentioned
I think shield generators will be more popular with the rocket barrage
Wasn't the lore about the bugs, that they are farmed for E710 and that every time a planet gets "invaded" it's just that the bugs on that Planet have broken out of their farms and multiplied uncontrolled. It's just called an "invasion" because Super Earth won't admit they messed up. And the reason that they don't show up on Bot invaded planets, that possibly also had Bug farms while they were under Super Earth control, is that the Bots make short work of the Bugs, so that they won't become a problem. Something Super Earth won't do, because they want to keep farming them for E710. So that's how Bugs can "invade" the same planets over and over again. Because Super Earth just stuffs them back into farms, that they eventually break out from again. Or simply left over nests, that multiply again. Like a planet is a big place. And overlooking one nest is easy, but it's all it takes. Which also ties into that new mission type, were you nuke the underground nests. Like what Helldivers used to do was just seal the access holes, like the bugs couldn't just dig new ones. Which probably does kill some underground bugs, for lack of ventilation and stuff, but hardly all of them until they can dig new holes.
I hope that the new bots have limited quantity rockets. And I hope the automaton learn how to improve their forces in new ways OTHER THAN ADDING ROCKETS.
More rockets means more betterer bots
The Terminids don't have a hivemind, they have near-human intelligence. I absolutely wouldn't put it past them to have intentionally made spore chargers.
Given its appearance looks quite like the dropships' center, I assume the Automaton ships are basically solely massive carrier/fabricator craft, for both units and their fuel and munitions. Or maybe they just build like that, and it doesnt help drop capabilities at all. It would be fascinating to see some of the larger automatons be able to be just dropped from orbit, though, falling onto the battlefield like a Halo scarab.
4:33 Frankly, I find the idea of a bug that thinks OFFENSIVE!
I am super exited for ORANGE
I am going to use the nee orange livery on absolutely everything I can, and I’ll only wear armor with orange on it (the more orange the better)
Them bugs and bots WILL know what hit them
So when you talk about the impaler being a mining bug, I agree with that. I am just not sure if super earth used it. Maybe they burrowed into the ground and evolved since the 1st galactic war? You could be right
You forget the new flame throw automaton, you know the one at the end of the trailer that was one of the ones that flew in on a jetpack.
Wait that guy had a flamethrower?? That's awesome, I thought it was just the standard jetpack bot in the game.
i do tend to belive theres some form of "hivemind" with the nids but its unknown what kind a caste system a zerg like overmind or a tyranid hybrid system/
The impalers and spore chargers were most likely hiding out on the worlds behind omicron. There was mention of changes in terminid migration patterns so that’s why they got to the frontline. Your explanation is cool but the devs usually take the simpler approach when it comes to justifying why we shoot the things we shoot, as the previous major orders have proven.
Also the bug in the larva mission is a hive lord larva as evidenced by the leaks
Yeah Democracy Officer, this video right here
6:17
Methods to beat this.
That rocket pod is probably gonna be this things weakspot. You hit it hard enough, and you might get it to daisychain and blow up the whole tank. Accruate AMR fire would be the go-to.
My theory for the showing space ships is that we will be getting space dog fights? Idk just the only thing I could think of….. (also what if some bugs can breathe in space? Or they do what the arachnids from STARSHIP TROOPERS do send meteors with spores inside to the planets? Idk just a theory)
Im pretty shure all the bug killing from the last two major orders will cause them to mutate again, creating the impaler and spore charger and maybe some other ones we haven't been shown yet
Causing a resurgence of the impaler gene
Your excitement is contagious and makes me feel like a kid during summer playing video games again
Thank you!! Glad I could share the good vibes. I have been feeling the best vibes from all the nice comments lately!
I believe it is canon that once a bug hive gets big enough they start shooting their spores into space. These spores somehow have the power to ftl and thus, travel to different planets. If a spore is lucky enough to hit a habitable planet it starts to mature and starts to produce both bugs and the symbiotic fungus( which also might be part of their species, idk bug biology is wired)
I think that the spores on the spore charger are used to create more bug's. They implant themselves in your lungs then they slowly grow until they're big enough to break out of the host's lungs killing them and creating more bug's
A automaton railcannon strike got leaked recently and now we have automaton destroyers? We can just connect the dots here I guess
We already have a rail cannon strike. Did you mean something else?

It has been confirmed by Super Earth Command transmissions that the Terminids invade other planets by enormous spore clouds that drift through the vacuum of space.
Meridia super colony could pump out thease spores at such a volume that the only viable way of protecting any nearby systems from being overrun by the trilions of spores leaving Meridia every single day, was the conclusion of the Operation Enduring Peace, and the subsequent collapse of Meridia into a black hole.
humanity suffered 41 million casualties on Meridia, which was enough to achieve a permanent victory.

I know the game has been practically telling us that they spawn from space clouds but my headcannon is that they dont jump from planet to planet, they just emerge from their nests because the Helldivers never fully got rid of them.
When you seal a bug hole thats all you do, seal the hole. Theres still a chamber full of bug eggs and tunnels that that single autocannon shot didnt destroy. When the termanids feel that they are too few they hide underground until they feel the time is right again and they reemerge.
The question becomes, why do they pop back out on planets from a certain direction instead of just popping up on random planets that arent near eachother? The hive mind. When the termanids from a "liberated" planet get the signal that nearby planets are also infested they pop out to keep pushing the helldivers back. The space spores dont make termanids they just transmit messages saying "we are nearby attack now".

That tank is a near copy of the TOS-1 that the Russians made, even down to the way it is made. Both tanks take their nation’s main battle tank hull and slap a giant box filled with as many large caliber rockets as possible. They’re used in the same way too: frontline rocket artillery.
Now, if you have seen the TOS-1, you know the elevation mechanism and this exact same mechanism is used in the automaton TOS-1. Where am I taking this? Well, the Russians might be in space and allied with the automatons or even the cyborgs, giving them blueprints for the TOS or just outright giving them working models.
Now, if the Russians did give these communist robots the design plans for the TOS-1, the bots would have also had blueprints for the rockets that burn the air around where the rocket hit, causing more damage. There is a potential that we could see these “suffocation rockets” in the future.
Oh my God the sudden death mosquito was referenced.
They also teased an Automaton oil mission kinda as well as the snipers.
Its good to know that the automatons now have AT-STs and the defoliator
