Big agree on the battery life and power usage. I have a cheaper Asus TUF (the budget line) and the fan is honestly really really good for me. The passive cooling is really impressive, extremely quiet and even plugged in I don't get a lot of heat.

as someone who has basically been a laptop gamer most of my life ya your video is spot on about how gaming laptops are its more of a janky desktop replacement that can work but often times it is better to just get a desktop pc

I've given up on gaming laptops because they don't come with mouse buttons anymore. Switched to a Thinkpad P51 and I don't really miss having semi-competent gaming performance. If I need to play a game on the go, I can just lower the settings.

I did the same as you but i actualy had a downgrade, from 3080 desktop to 4060 laptop.
For the most part the change didnt bother me, it even improved things by making the electricity bill and temperature in the apartament during summer to be lower.
Didnt get a realy powerful laptop but for me it is a desktop replacement for the most part. Though i bought a laptop from asus. That is the zephyrus g16. i7 13620H and rtx4060, 16(32now) gb of ram and 500gb ssd(i put one more ssd to have 1.5 tb).
Just to run youtube and a few more browser tabs the batteries last about 5 to 6 hours which for me is fine.
Glad i didn't even looked at gigabite aorus laptops :)

Gigabyte needs to step up their game and make better laptops.
Personally i have mostly stuck with workstaiton laptops and used them for both gaming / professional use. I use the Lenovo Thinkpad P series. The FPS ids a bit lower, because they are more conservatively clocked, but they are built for long-term reliability. When they go on sale, the discount percentage is much higher.

look into undervolting, even downclocking it. fps limits, bios power limits, and windows power plans. it's kinda sad that this is the intel mobile experience, amd mobile isnt perfect but it's definitely a lot better

i've owned at least 6 gaming laptops since 2011. from what i can say is that Lenovo is my favourite based on my experience with their after sales service and how easy it is to open the laptop to upgrade memory or SSD or to clean it up. i've used at least 5 brands.
    Acer is my 2nd favourite.
Asus ROG, MSI, and HP are the worst. My ex-girlfriend had an Asus TUF. it isn't bad but i don't like how their laptops look.
and btw people seem to not understand that people who buy these big gaming laptops are mostly engineers who need powerful-enough computers which they can carry around for work with engineering softwares.
if you just wanna play games, just get a desktop PC

for some people they just cant use a desktop pc ... ... lke person who is tied on place and doesnt have place for a desktop .... we exist ... i dont have a deskt and i have no place for desk anyway.... so for me console + laptop is the only feasible option for gaming ...

I had a gaming laptop, you’re the battery life sucks. So I left it plugged in for like 5 years, now it won’t turn on 😂😂
I checked the battery and it’s good, the motherboard on the other hand….
Also, went to Mac and won’t be looking back!
    Good video man!😎

am thinking about buying a gaming laptop specifically hp victus 15 with a 4050 and a ryzen 5 but idk if whether its gonna be loud or how much will the battery last whether i game on it or not

Gaming Laptops will almost always have loud fans and low battery life. You can pick up an MSI Laptop with a 4050 and intel CPU for a little cheaper, but if you plan to game in one location for long periods of time, I recommend just buying a pre-built Desktop PC instead. If you need a daily driver, I recommend a cheap Macbook M1 Air, the battery lasts a long time and there's no fan noise because it has no fan. If you plan to game on the go, just get a Steam Deck instead.

      Hey!
I would just build a desktop PC and purchase a used steam deck for gaming on the go!
