  • In this video I install another piece of carbon fiber trim inside my Porsche 911. This is an upgrade for the door sill which is just a stock piece of plastic. The more I see them inside Porsche 911s, the more I’ve come to appreciate the look and the enhanced feel of luxury that carbon fiber presents. In this video I show you how to remove the stock door sills and install the carbon fiber trim pieces. What do you think? Enjoy!
    As ever, thanks so much for watching my videos and supporting my channel. I do all of this because of my passion for cars and interacting with like minded car enthusiasts. Keep the comments and chat coming! More videos coming soon. Cheers!

    The inner door sills look awesome as well in carbon fiber. And are really practical to hide the constant shoes scuffs, and dust that the original plastic show so easily.

    They look really great! I would be even more excited to open the door everyday. I think the dash trim would compliment it well. Then maybe PDK handle and steering wheel accents to complete the look. Looking forward to the wrap!

    This is a really nice upgrade. Personally, I prefer the non illuminated as well. I ordered a pair from a vendor in Germany last year and never received mine. He may be going out of business. I was going to re-order from another vendor, but after seeing another installation video, I got scared off, by the complication of the stock part removal. I think I would prefer an overlay version that goes over the original, as I dread the thoughts of scratching the paint even under the original parts. These look great in your car.

    • @AutoAmateur
      @AutoAmateur  4 роки тому

      Thanks Rick!! With careful, gentle use of the heat gun and trim tool, it's pretty easy and doesn't harm the paint. Go with what you're comfortable with though for sure.

    I've been watching your modifications for a while. Some I like and some are not my cup of tea. However as you go down the carbon fiber mod route, have you considered carbon fibre dipping to get the effect. I think you could get an incredible cost saving and cover everything, especially the wheels. There are lots of videos on line

    • @AutoAmateur
      @AutoAmateur  4 роки тому

      Thanks David!! With the carbon fiber, I'm still in two minds. I like the accents I've added but I'm not sure I want to go much further. The interior is dark enough as it is and I quite like the way the silver trim reflects the light and brightens it up a little. If I add more though, I'll probably add OEM pieces. I know you can dip the trim or wrap the trim, but I'm not sure I would like that. I'm trying to strike a balance between making updates to satisfy my need to tweak and play with the car and not going too far.

  • @arrens309

    What kind of adhesive was used to apply the new door sill? Or did the product already come with some sort of adhesive?

    • @AutoAmateur
      @AutoAmateur  4 місяці тому

      The new sills come with 3M adhesive strips pre-installed. You just remove the backing and fit them. Any 3M tape will work though I imagine.

      The hole? I think it's a drain. Any water that collects on the door sill by the weather seal strip escapes there. Not sure. I love your last comment there though, haha. I often think of that as I'm making changes to the car. Will the next owner like this?? :) You wanna buy it?

      David Ridley. While I share your love of driving the car. The content of these videos is more about DIY and then driving the car. We all know how to drive. It’s great to see James doing some things outside of that box and teaching(showing) us how it’s done. It provides an insight into what we may or may not be getting into. The first man out of the trench type of thing. If he is successful... then we drive.
