You ladies are gorgeous! I am a 58 year old woman who has straighten my hair since I was 20 years old. I too have had all the comments about ….”I like you better with straight hair” people would treat me as though I didn’t have a brain when I wore my hair curly. I have such a complex about it. The curly girl method did not work for me either! I I hated it! Having come across your videos…..I might give it try one more time! I have 4 other “ seesters “ and we all have curly hair……although I am the only one that straightens! I had no idea you needed to prep the hair first! I had no idea you should not touch your hair after you put your styling product in ……so many new things I have learned! Wish me luck!!!
How timely, I just retried plopping again after getting the Perfect Haircare towel. Huge difference! I do an improvised method that doesn't require a flat surface so I can plop still in the shower - helps a lot to prevent body acne from dripping conditioner.
I freaking LOVE you (both of you!), and I am so, so, SO grateful!!! I've been a curly girl for more than 20 yrs., but no one ever really taught me HOW to be a curly girl. I've been stumbling through various products and routines for decades. I spent more years than I care to think about as a DevaCurl devotee following the Curly Girl method. But the way that you explain things and the products you review has my hair looking better than it ever has. Thank you thank you thank you!!!
So interesting! I have the black towel from the perfect hair care and i always make sure i pack it for trips and bring to the salon! I didnt know until todays video not to plop in it until ive added moisture products and some gel first. I will try this method next wash day! Thank you lovely ladies😃
I took my Perfect Haircare towel on vacation and left the diffuser at home. These tips were great & made air drying much quicker and without frizz, even in a humid environment. 💜 I love the new prints!
Already ordered mine! 😄 love them. They’re also sensitive skin friendly. I LOVE towel drying with these they’re perfect. Pun totally unintended. I also feel pretty while plopping in them. These are the best! Plus your color schemes are so fun.
I just wanted to say both of you are beautiful and I am so grateful that you came out with these towels because it is so hard to find a good towel for curly hair!😁😁💖💖
Im using $4 microfiber hair towel from dollarama, I want the perfect haircare towel but it is sooo pricy. Hopefully my dollarama one's are not messing up my waves too much!
I'm legit DYING for your verb foam gel to come out for us common folk! 🤤🤤🤤I use a foam & gel almost every wash day & this sounds SO me! And no coconut oil! 🥳 My hair won't tolerate it in leave in products, so glad to see it wasn't in there! 🙌👏🙌
I love you, Mell. I have learned soooo much from your vids. I wish I could come to NY so you could cut my hair. I have a good stylist, but she is not a curly professional. I found you indirectly through Angela at the Fit Curls. I have had curly hair my entire life (60 years) and have been trying to straighten it for years. Since the first of May this year, I have been on this journey. I am so blessed with 3a well defined curls that I could literally scrunch and go if I had to. I am also in love with the Denman brush. I know my mother had one when I was growing up, but of course we never knew what to do with it. Thank you, thank you, thank you for all these professional advice videos. UA-cam! PAY HER!!! Please keep making these vids.
I’ve ordered my towels! I’ve been using them for 3-4 years now, and love them. I was late to the party last year. I wanted to get both but could only get Mels so I made sure I got the bundle this time.
You guys look so beautiful 😍, I usually dry my hair before getting out of the shower but I hate it, I will now just put my hair on a hair clip and follow these steps! Thank you guys for again teaching me something new! Also congratulations on all the accomplishments you guys are achieving!
I also used to put my hair in a towel immediately after the shower, and I too HATED IT. I actually used the perfect Haircare towels, which I still adore and use all the time, but the method left my hi po hair with way too little moisture and water to clump, forcing me to spend so much more time getting my hair wet enough than it takes to just apply my leave in in the shower and then plop afterward.
Can u guys do like an updated product collection? Cuz I’ve noticed u use aveda and ag products a lot, can give us some recs? Or even better, a video abt best leave in conditioners! I’d really like to hear your input on this!
I have been watching you for over a year, since starting my curly journey after years of straightening. I LOVE your channel and I really appreciate your advice! I share with everyone. October is my birthday month. Decided to spoil myself with a "Seester's Bundle" of the Perfect Haircare pack. I am sooooooo excited. I also asked for the new foaming Verb gel you collaborated on. I am sooooooo excited! Between covid hair loss and transitioning, I am looking forward to a special hair treat for me!
Mell & Amanda, I got both your towels and a black out for when I dye my hair. I also bought 8 bottles of The Verb COLLABORATION WITH THE GUIDO SEESTERS... plus I got 3 of everything else from them.
Hi guys. I love you guys always given us great advice in your video. Its nice that you put some bloopers at the end. Your bottle need a good wash. Haha so funny. I love the tangle teezer brush to detangle and style I have mine for 3 years and ordered a new one because I always clean outside but just realise that it can be open to clean it. OMG !!! So disgusting full of mold. You could do a tutorial how to clean your brush I think it can be helpfull to know how. Thank you again.
I love how those towels cut time as I have thick hair, would like one. Mell is there a colored curly hair routine? I need one because I love having crazy colors on my hair. Problem is I have a scalp condition too. I think seborrheic dermatitis, so yeah I have used the Neutrogena tgel shampoo on my scalp. Ps. I have used the n.0 and no.3 olaplex treatment and I'm a believer; dude I noticed a difference. Like I heard you use it and follow your steps l, but to actually see it help my hair is amazing 👏🏻
My curls are a lotttttttt looser than yours so I’m not sure how these towels are going to work out (I just started wearing my hair curly this year) but I think I’m going to get a set. Now to decide on what design to order 😂 This might be a weird question but do you wash the towels after every use or are they something that can be multiple times. I imagine they dry completely bc of the material?
They dry completely. I reuse mine probably 4 or 5 times, my hairdresser actually said the more hair washes you use this with, the more product and that hair product will just keep going back into the wet hair your next go around which is not a bad thing!! Wash when you wanna but definitely hang dry in between:-)
I have these towels and at least for me, they dry veeeeery quickly, especially compared to other microfiber towels I’ve tried. Just hang them on a door handle while you diffuse your hair and it will be dry in a couple hours.
Would this plopping method work for men too or would you lose the style you achieved by putting the towel on top of it? And Should guys use a gel as well? I normally only use curling cream that’s it.
Would you two be interested in doing something like monthly "Favorites and Fails/Raves and Rejects" type videos? I'm not sure how many products you try out, but I enjoy these kinds of product roundup videos in the makeup realm. Even if it's not as frequently as monthly, I think it could be fun to see you both sitting and chatting about your experiences with products, even if it's just casual and quick reviews.
@@Palmundo91 That's why I said "type" of video... I love Taylor Wynn, which is why I said raves and rejects, but I thought people did monthly favorites since the beginning of UA-cam, so I'm confused... I'm sorry she has a catchy name for her monthly favorites? I'm sure Mel and Amanda can come up with a cute alternative name that uses something like "curl" or "mane" if they wanted to.
Thank you so much for this video!! It's so useful, especially since I always have a limited amount of time to dry my hair before school💛💛💛 I'll make sure to follow your tips in my routine! Happy texture Tuesday! 😊
Purchased towels🥰! I'm from UK but with a bit of searching I was able to find them. I've only got the basic plain black one at the moment so I'm looking forward to having some bright colours in my life. Awesome 😁
I love my perfect haircare towel. Now I need a Manes by Mel one!! So happy you showed the scrunching towels!! My hair hold tons of water, and the area touching my hair gets soaking, but there is still quite a bit of water in my hair. What would you suggest to help?
Hi mel and amanda, would you do a review on cake hair products, they come from your country 🇨🇦 I love the cake hair products excellent. You guys are so funny 👱♀️ thank you, love Tuesday's ❤️
Thanks! As for questions, how would you advice to properly put your hair away during exercise like sailing, without breaking it? A tight ponotail probably isn’t best;)
Watching this while doing my 4th "plop" of the afternoon.😆 (This is how I avoid using a blow dryer 'cuz I hate it.) I apply lots of product to soaking wet hair. "Wet plop" by just letting the product soak in under a shower cap. "Regular" plop once. Take it out and micro-plop/scrunch with a dry towel. Then, I put it back up in another "regular" plop with another dry towel. Is it gonna work for everyone or solve all my hair woes? No. But it helps it dry faster without a blow dryer and actually still looks pretty great.
Happy Texture Tuesday!!! So excited for this!! I just ordered both towels can't wait for them to come so I could try plopping!! I never had a good experience with it though. Much love and happiness!! Xoxo 😘
First of all, you guys are awesome and these videos are invaluable when it comes to curly hair guidance! I just need a quick clarification...so these towels are the silk kind like the kind of material you want to sleep on? Versus a cotton towel? I got a special plopping towel that is the cotton kind (like using the old cotton tshirt method). Do I need the silk kind instead to get the right plopping results??
Thank you seesters, these are great tips! I couldn’t decide between patterns, so I got both! Excited to try it out!! Just waiting for that Verb foam to drop next 😩💸💸💸
If you apply the products from wet, non-towel dried hair, do you comb them through before plopping? I have to run a brush through my fine wavy hair. I don’t have cork screw curls like the two of you. When can I brush?!
If shrinkage is the goal then YES! But if you’re looking for elongation, I shared a video that I linked in the caption, you can watch it here: ua-cam.com/video/EFioTuxJoS8/v-deo.html
I have type 4a dense hair and I plop with this towel. My routine is to apply my products on pretty soaking wet hair, plop after I’m completely finished styling for just ten min, add a bit more gel/mousse with praying hands to get better hold, and dry with my hooded dryer. Shrinkage is minimal, definition is bomb and drying takes 10 to 15 min.
@@Erika-lv6lh I totally get you. I often have to sit under my hooded dryer for 20-30 min depending on how wet my hair is, and since I often wash my hair in the morning before school, I just don't have time. Plopping really helps! Just a tip tho: as Mell said in the vid, MAKE SURE TO NOT KEEP IT ON TOO LONG. If your hair is hi-po, like me, 5-10 will more than suffice. Keeping it on longer may make your scalp itchy and suck too much moisture/product from your hair.
How does it wash? Does the product last long? Now if you wash more often during the week I guess you would have to wash the microfibre towel before hand
Would it be possible to do a drugstore shampoo and conditioner vs affordable high end products. I’ve been using ogx for about 4 years and had to stop because my hair is falling more than usual and I just found out the cause eye problems … which I’ve also been having issues for the past 3 years just not sure if OGX is to blame.
Hey Mel and Amanda! This video was a lifesaver! I used to plop overnight… guess I won’t be doing that anymore haha. I do have a question about flat roots, though. I have super long curly hair down to my waist, but my hair won’t curl above my neck. Meaning, I have straight hair almost down to my shoulders. Even when I had shorter hair, it never really curled high up. Is that just my hair type, or am I doing something wrong? Thank you so much for all of your videos!
It is the weight. you might need to work in a product that gives more structure (at least in the lower part of your hair). If you have that long hair you might consider braiding it for night. Women in the past during day had their hair in an updo and in braids - it was more practical, it did not get dirty as easily (if they worked on a farm for instance, never mind they wore a head cover), and it prevented damage. So seeing a women with open hair was reserved for intimate / erotic situations, hence the phrase "letting your hair down" braiding it for night will prevent mechanical damage, and it will also add some texture. There is a disease that makes women (and men ?) lose their hair: Alopecia areat. I think it is an autoimmune disease. They also lose the hair of their eye brows, lashes, and worst - those on their scalp. If they have a high value real hair wig it is imperative that they do not wear it during night. Lying on the pillow will cause damage and it will last significantly shorter. With good care such a wig can last a few years. That is why our ancestors wore night caps, and braided their hair before going to bed. They opened up the bun or braids they wore during day and made a new braid (or braids).
Edited: yeah, this towel is still a hard no for me. As cute as your two look and as easy as you make it look to plop, it is not. I wanted to re-visit, which I did, it just isn't for me. I will continue with my trusty t-shirt for the micro plop, (didn't know that was a thing, I just called it scrunching lol) and plop with my micro fiber turbie twist towel. Keep up the good hair videos, my daughter and I love them! I have the black one and was not impressed. I will revisit it. I just remember that for me, it was not very absorbent and it's been hanging in my closet since last September. I will try your technique and see if this video changes my mind. :)

Do you have any tips for volume? I have very flat roots and long hair. And my hair is all the same length
How does it wash? Does the product last long? Now if you wash more often during the week I guess you would have to wash the microfibre towel before hand
Just wondering the Combs that you guys are using where did you get them from?
Anyone else just do the pat and squeeze method? I can’t manage the towel hat thing. It slips and slide too much.
Thank you for breaking down the technique into small steps - I think this will help me a lot.
Does any microfiber towel work, or does the material matter?
What kind of diffuser is universal, best for a low budget, and good for very long hair?
Would it be possible to do a drugstore shampoo and conditioner vs affordable high end products. I’ve been using ogx for about 4 years and had to stop because my hair is falling more than usual and I just found out the cause eye problems … which I’ve also been having issues for the past 3 years just not sure if OGX is to blame.
Would you be willing to do a video using curlformers...
The shipping cost or Australia is too high ! Can you suggest an alternative on amazon?
omg the outtakes at the end have me rolling. Instashiiit...lol. Mildew and dilldoo...wow.
Ordered 2 thank you both!
I LOVE you Seesters!!!😍
So seeing a women with open hair was reserved for intimate / erotic situations, hence the phrase "letting your hair down"
braiding it for night will prevent mechanical damage, and it will also add some texture.
MELL I WAS WAITING FOR U I AM SO EXCITED YOUR LOYAL FAN- ASA
I can't wait to receive my towel in the mail!!!!! 🤩also the bloopers got me laughing so loud omg you girls are hilarious and make me miss my sister everyday 😂💗
When I plop my hair the front of my hair always looks crazy when I take it out.
Are the styles and colors limited or the towel in general ?
I would really like to buy these towels you designed, but the shipping is the same price as the towels.. Sad.
