The kind of incompatibility that exists between a hypersexual cuddler and an aro-ace touch-repulsed person who is hurting because they know what you need and they're tired of watching you shove those needs aside for them.
Or whatever other kind of incompatibility. Sometimes people are just not available or don't want to be. Yet they still crave you in their life for a time, or for a reason, or for ... all the wrong reasons, lol. Ego and what not.
I do, I love her, I love her to death. But I stuff it way down deep just so I can watch her and be close. She's already been through hell in life, so I'll be her friend to protect her.

It's a great piece of dialogue to begin with, and James just NAILS it. Makes it resonate, makes you feel it. Perfect acting.
