It cool seeing all the differences in 343 GS is so cool. You can just imagine a dev going “yeah this is cool, but wouldn’t it be even creepier if we did this?”
With how Echo 419 said about responding to chief despite Chief not actually speaking, you are correct the lines are actually still in the current script file in the final game, just commented out. "Pilot: What's going on down there? I'm tracking movement all over the place!" You are correct with how Echo 419 acted like Chief spoke to her, what Chief would've said: "Chief: I need extraction, I'll explain later." In Keys, There's also another line for both cortana and chief. Judging by the script this is before you jump into the hole at the beginning of the mission, but it would've played right before Cortana says "Warning! Threat level increasing!" but after the "The hole was caused by an explosion" line. "Cortana: There's so many I can't track them all!" "Chief: You have no idea." There's even a line for chief which makes him sound hesitant after waiting after a few lines from cortana: "Chief: Are you sure that pool is deep enough?" That all I could find from the script files. Though idk if 1749 script files had more lines commented out.
At 1:00:23 where you mention the playback scene and the marine model disappearing randomly. Joseph Staten mentions in the halo CE playthrough with Marty that the reason the final playback cuts to the left is actually because they couldnt figure out why the marine disppears. Therefore they just moved the camera to the left so the player couldnt see it I just checked. If you look up "Halo CE Developer Commentary Remastered [4K 60fps]" and go to 30:06 its the same scene and he mentions the pop in. At 29:11 he mentions jerking away the camera during some of the playback to hide the pop in. So essentially a lot of the camera movements in the playback were due to hiding pop in! Also....these commentaries and deep dives on the halo are such comfort food. Great info and great videos! Good stuff!
The cut "Keep moving" line from Keyes appears verbatim early on in the game Oni, also by Bungie, in which Pete Stacker voices the character Commander Griffin. Like, it's not Pete Stacker saying a line he already said in another game, it's the exact same clip.
I wonder if that is where bungie decided to name office of naval intelligence (O.N.I) from. Not unlike them to reference their games in other games, Destiny in ODST

cool all most a 2 hr special, I think it's great to hear the pre-reversal voice acting that we gotten in the beta. I would love to have them in a game as a voice mod.
26:00 the worried marine saying be quiet, might be early flood foreshadowing rather than invisible elites, he does refer to them as monsters and cortana says she can't sense any covenant forces
She couldn't detect any Covenant forces on the TaR either, right before a stealth Elite with a sword enters the bay. This line could have been foreshadowing that.
I'm glad that almost all of the cut lines were cut, but I still wish there were some more interchanges in the game with Cortana talking and stuff to them. The invisible monsters line would've been great on a later level.
Found a small error. The two Hunters behind the blast door on Truth and Rec actually do spawn on normal in the final, but only if you lose your marines in the stealth elite encounter. Otherwise, the game spawns a jackal squad.
Thank you, i knew it was possible for that to happen but I wasn't sure how, cause i know for sure i fought hunters there when i was a kid and when i was a kid i only played on normal
according to a lot of people I've seen say this on multiple comment sections, Halo third person shooter/rts may have been completely scraped. @@lucamckenn5932 I doubt it's completely gone. They showed off the E3 halo 2 build just a few years ago, it's likely they have everything archived. I doubt it'll ever get released but there's nothing to suggest they lost or trashed them

27:40 Coldsnap flashbacks. It seems like whenever you got in a Pelican, someone with an automatic was shooting you and flashing your screen red. Same long gold tracers and all.
1:20:15 These lines actually appear in the novel Halo: The Flood! I thought it was kinda neat. I'm going just off of memory but I think a good amount of the cut lines from this demo were actually also in the novel Amazing video btw
The crewman trying to take on the grunts with the pistol on The Pillar Of Autumn explains that part in the book Halo : The Flood, I could never picture what it meant when it said Chief picked up ammo from a dead crewmate. I wonder what build the author played to translate it into the book.
I view those books as what I like to call 'ultra canon'. They're correct with all the details and add so much more dimension to the events. I had no idea how pivotal odsts were on Installation 00 until I read that book. They were out in the shit getting everything the chief couldn't do himself. Jenkins was an actual character before, and after his demise, lots of extremely important character building for John, Cortana, Keyes, etc. Did you know: Keyes was promoted from commander (it's been years but I know he wasn't like a lance corporal or something) to captain after a brave and daring raid on a covenant bunker single handedly? Saved a whole platoon of marines to. My knowledge is rusty and I could be thinking of Sargeant Johnson though.
@@s-1348 I mean to be fair it's possible the author was commissioned to write it when the game was being developed and was given wip material to help write the book. Like for context the book features other stuff that was intended to be in the game but was cut like Alpha Base.
Seeing all of this is amazing to me after all these years. They did a good job capturing the mysterious feel of the Installation, even in it's beta stages. Thank you for the work of analysing all of this.
Watching the introduction of the flood in an early state reminds me of the developer commentary video from CE, Joe says that in the scene they were suppose to appear even more flood infection forms attacking the marines but they were getting stuck on the door frame, maybe that’s why it only appears 1 on the 1749 build that they were having that problem even back then.
A part 2 definitely worth waiting for. As someone who doesn’t do anything with modding aside from playing mods, this analysis was amazing! Really shows how much work bungie had to do in those last two months.
Impressive work, you tried your best not to (and not to make us) miss any detail, analysing the game files as well, making references to the most common glitches and bugs, comparing the 1749 version with the final version of the game. Respect!
That FOV actually isn’t bad. Kind of wish they would have kept it for retail. Or at least around 90-100. Nice video! It’s really awesome to see people still talking about this amazing game, 19 years later. 😎👌
An amazing video, I can see a lot of work went into this. I’ve been playing Halo CE since 2002 and spent countless hours playing campaign. It’s stuff like this that I live for, always wanted to know what was behind that door or what would happen if I could spawn a banshee.
I believe the hunters on the natural bridge at the end of the control room do spawn in retail, I swear I've fought them there before. Still, amazing video! I love seeing the history of games like this, especially since CE is one of my favorites.

im pretty sure its well known but the infection forms feasting on corpses is in the retail version of the game. gearbox cut it along with a bunch of other features like shaders and such when they ported it to PC. since then, a lot of people havent seen what CE looked like on XBOX. and more have forgotten all the cut stuff gearbox accidentally removed
Excellent, thorough analysis, with some really interesting information. They had a lot of work to do in that three month span, this game is definitely not up to the same level as the final build. I do kind of wish they had kept those 2 dark hallways, and added some kind of encounter there. Either flood, invis elites, or perhaps even invis flood, would have been a memorable encounter. And thank god they got rid of that rocket flood in the service tunnel, that would have been frustrating to say the least.
Always good to see a new beta video. Keep doing what you're good at man, and I can't wait to see more videos like this! Also the Jackals and Hunters speaking is so... weird. Especially the Jackals.
The audio design is really good in this. The environmental effects and everything are great. It even sounds better than Anniversary, since Anniversary is missing the effects of the original Xbox version.

‘Another voice actor’? That marine is Chipps Dubbo, sir.
Previous fella sounds like Mendoza, then suddenly Jenkins
It's so weird to think that if they had left the original voice actor in, it wouldn't have stood out as much and Chips wouldn't be in the lore :/
Had a blast watching this mate. Incredibly interesting. I really hope there are more beta versions of other games that have come out or will.
I hope whoever leaked this build can get their hands on some of the older builds. I would LOVE to get my hands on the 99 or 00 builds of the game
according to a lot of people I've seen say this on multiple comment sections, Halo third person shooter/rts may have been completely scraped. This is pure hearsay, but as far as lost media goes anything is possible. At the bottom of an old desk, in storage, in bungies previous hq, that mythical alpha build may exist. I know for a fact they had functioning gameplay, you can find videos for them.
@@lucamckenn5932 I doubt it's completely gone. They showed off the E3 halo 2 build just a few years ago, it's likely they have everything archived. I doubt it'll ever get released but there's nothing to suggest they lost or trashed them
Interestingly, there are several spots in the MCC, where the subtitles still use the extended lines that were curtailed for release, particularly Echo 419's line at the start of 343 Guilty Spark and the longer 'scrambled the inside' line
I'm going just off of memory but I think a good amount of the cut lines from this demo were actually also in the novel
Amazing video btw
This is such great quarantine content. Thank you.
The crewman trying to take on the grunts with the pistol on The Pillar Of Autumn explains that part in the book Halo : The Flood, I could never picture what it meant when it said Chief picked up ammo from a dead crewmate. I wonder what build the author played to translate it into the book.
Didn't the flood came like in 2003? Probably the final version, and the dead crewman was just a liberty or something
@@s-1348 Hmmmm, that's wierd
@@xecuter1176 sounds like an easy excuse on why there's some randomly place ammo on a corridor
Like for context the book features other stuff that was intended to be in the game but was cut like Alpha Base.
i just watched almost two hours of halo CE pre-release patchnotes
great video
Seeing all of this is amazing to me after all these years.
They did a good job capturing the mysterious feel of the Installation, even in it's beta stages.
Thank you for the work of analysing all of this.
Watching the introduction of the flood in an early state reminds me of the developer commentary video from CE, Joe says that in the scene they were suppose to appear even more flood infection forms attacking the marines but they were getting stuck on the door frame, maybe that’s why it only appears 1 on the 1749 build that they were having that problem even back then.
“Baby wake up ! Vadam posted part two!”
Respect!
That Marine talking about the invisible imposters gives me the fuckin' creeps. As a kid that would have given me nightspooks.
This is such a good set of videos. Thank you so much for putting this much work in, man! it's a fascinating watch!
That FOV actually isn’t bad. Kind of wish they would have kept it for retail. Or at least around 90-100. Nice video! It’s really awesome to see people still talking about this amazing game, 19 years later. 😎👌
a nearly 2 hour video about an early build of Halo CE from someone i enjoy to watch? Vadam you graceful king.
An amazing video, I can see a lot of work went into this.
I’ve been playing Halo CE since 2002 and spent countless hours playing campaign. It’s stuff like this that I live for, always wanted to know what was behind that door or what would happen if I could spawn a banshee.
it's amazing how much a slight model misplacement can drastically change the context of a cutscene
I believe the hunters on the natural bridge at the end of the control room do spawn in retail, I swear I've fought them there before. Still, amazing video! I love seeing the history of games like this, especially since CE is one of my favorites.
I liked that Crewman had Marine death screams. It's kinda silly when they die they die silently. 12:15 12:17
One of the most underrated videos about Halo on UA-cam. Thank you for so much detail.
You just made Halo History with this super detailed video! Congratulations!!!😊👌
Finally! My life is complete. After watching this video, I can now die contented!
Goodbye everybody... see you after the Great Journey.
Halo prototypes leading to the Great Journey confirmed. We must travel to our mecca, Microsoft's headquarters, and demand the rest of our holy artifacts!
im pretty sure its well known but the infection forms feasting on corpses is in the retail version of the game. gearbox cut it along with a bunch of other features like shaders and such when they ported it to PC. since then, a lot of people havent seen what CE looked like on XBOX. and more have forgotten all the cut stuff gearbox accidentally removed
Love these videos, It’s always satisfying hearing about how a game was during development
And thank god they got rid of that rocket flood in the service tunnel, that would have been frustrating to say the least.
thank you Vadam, you have done well my brother!
was definitely worth the wait
Great video bro! Almost 2 hours of halo goodness
Always good to see a new beta video. Keep doing what you're good at man, and I can't wait to see more videos like this!
Also the Jackals and Hunters speaking is so... weird. Especially the Jackals.
13:02 i love the little details they have even in beta. you can see the rifle's bolt reciprocating and the ammo counter ticking down.
Incredible that they did so much in such little time.
Loved it, finally part two is put.
The audio design is really good in this. The environmental effects and everything are great. It even sounds better than Anniversary, since Anniversary is missing the effects of the original Xbox version.
