15 Games That UNDERPROMISED AND OVERDELIVERED

There are numerous games out there that, for one reason or another, failed to provide substantial promise. These games might have poor marketing, or maybe their pre-release demos were underwhelming. Others were made by tiny development teams that had little to no expectation on how successful their game could become.
Some games on this list represent complete tonal shifts from a developer’s previous output, or presented a reboot too far removed from the hallmarks of a beloved franchise.
Whatever the reason for the game’s pre-release grievances, doubters have been well and truly silenced. This video highlights 15 games that under-promised but let the game do the talking once it had been released. Many of these games have gone on to be amongst the biggest selling games ever or have garnered a cult classic status despite reviewing terribly.

I would include Subnautica. The game had very little buzz when it released. But discovering for yourself how deep this game gets (pun intended) makes it one of the most thrilling and satisfying game experiences you will ever have.

The Chronicles of Riddick was an AMAZING game! I remember being wowed by the graphics back on the original XBOX.

Demons souls was something special. The Tower Knight boss was exhilarating, especially when you beat it. When you get to the end of the game and the boss is just a pathetic blob easily beaten, it really felt bold and edgy.

The Forest is like living in the world of something like the ‘the Thing’. When i was being chased by mutants at night and made it to the safety of a boat out in a bay, i dont think there has been a better sci-fi horror atmosphere.

Sleeping dogs deserves more attention. I think Chinese and Asian gangsters in general need more attention in video games. Games set in China playing as triad would be awesome or you could do it on the Chinese/ Asian mobs/triads in New York. There were a lot of them.

Return to Monkey Island announcement trailer came out at April Fools and the actual game released the same year. The game itself was awesome
