Ok, just subscribed to ApostateProphet. And one thing, around minute 53 you ask about where these ideas for islam originally came from. Dr. Carrier says in one of his vids that he suspects it actually arose as an offshoot of the original Torah-observant sect of Christianity -- with Halal being an evolved form of Kosher. Their creations stories seem almost the same as well.

AP is one of the most considered, calm, knowledgeable apostates out there. Always speaking with deliberation but also aware that many of the apologists in the Muslim community are infantile bullies - even more so than in the Christian south. In the Christian US apologists will present absurd beliefs or belittle science. In Islamic apologist circles they tend instead to try to turn of the Mics of speakers at debates or ambush people in call-ins. He always amazes me when faced with such idiotic and juvenile antics.

      Auzubillahi minnashshaitaannirrajiim
      Bismillahirrahamanirrahiiim
Say: ‘O People of the Book, come to that matter which is common between us and you (namely that): we shall worship none other than Allah, and we shall not associate any partner with Him. Nor shall anyone of us take one another as Lords apart from Allah. Then if they turn away, say: Bear witness that we are but Allah’s obedient servants (Muslims).’‏
      (آل عِمْرَان‏ - Āl ‘Imrān [3 : 64])
O People of the Book! Why do you dispute about Ibrahim ([Abraham] i.e., why do you regard him as a Jew or a Christian])? The truth is that the Torah and the Injil ([the Gospel] on which both your religions are based) were sent down after his time. Have you not even (this much) sense?‏
      (آل عِمْرَان‏ - Āl ‘Imrān [3 : 65])
Listen! You are the people who have also been disputing about matters of which you had (but some) knowledge. But why do you dispute about things of which you have no knowledge (at all)? And Allah knows but you do not know.‏
      (آل عِمْرَان‏ - Āl ‘Imrān [3 : 66])
Ibrahim (Abraham) was neither a Jew nor a Christian; he was a (true) Muslim, far detached from all heresy and falsehood. Nor was he one of the polytheists.‏
      (آل عِمْرَان‏ - Āl ‘Imrān [3 : 67])
Certainly, the nearest of the people to Ibrahim (Abraham), (and the most deserving) are those who have followed him (in his Din [Religion]). And (they) are no other than this Messenger (blessings and peace be upon him) and those who have believed (in him). And Allah is the Helper of the believers.‏
      (آل عِمْرَان‏ - Āl ‘Imrān [3 : 68])
(O Muslims!) A section of the People of the Book (intensely) desire to, somehow, lead you astray, but they have led astray only themselves whilst they have no sense (of it).‏
      (آل عِمْرَان‏ - Āl ‘Imrān [3 : 69])
O People of the Book! Why are you denying Allah’s Revelations whilst you bear witness yourselves (i.e., you have read everything in your Books)?‏
      (آل عِمْرَان‏ - Āl ‘Imrān [3 : 70])
O People of the Book! Why do you confound the truth with falsehood, and why do you hide the truth whereas you know?‏
      (آل عِمْرَان‏ - Āl ‘Imrān [3 : 71])
And a section of the People of the Book say (to the people): ‘Believe in the Book (Qur’an) which is sent down to Muslims in the morning, and deny it in the evening, so that (imitating you) they may also desert and turn about.‏
      (آل عِمْرَان‏ - Āl ‘Imrān [3 : 72])
And do not believe anyone but him who follows (only) your din (religion).’ Say: ‘Surely, the guidance is but the guidance of Allah (alone).’ (And they further say to their people never to believe even this) that: ‘The like of the Book (or din [religion]) given to you may also be given to anyone else, or that someone may give a plea against you before your Lord.’ Say: ‘Bounty is in the Hand of Allah; He bestows on whom He pleases and Allah is All-Embracing, All-Knowing.‏
      (آل عِمْرَان‏ - Āl ‘Imrān [3 : 73])
He specifies His mercy for whom He wills and Allah is the Lord of Infinite Bounty.’‏
      (آل عِمْرَان‏ - Āl ‘Imrān [3 : 74])
And amongst the People of the Book there are a type that if you trust him with a heap of wealth, he will return it to you. And some amongst them are such that if you trust him with one dinar (a gold coin), he will not return it to you unless you keep standing over him. That is because they say: ‘There is no blame on us in the matter of the illiterate.’ And they fabricate a lie against Allah and they know it themselves (as well).‏
      (آل عِمْرَان‏ - Āl ‘Imrān [3 : 75])
Yes, he who fulfils his promise and adopts Godfearingness (will indeed face no accountability); so Allah surely loves the pious.‏
      (آل عِمْرَان‏ - Āl ‘Imrān [3 : 76])
Certainly, those who sell the promise of Allah and their own oaths for a small price, it is they who will not have any share in the Hereafter. And on the Day of Resurrection Allah will neither speak to nor look at them, nor will He purify them, and for them will be painful torment.‏
      (آل عِمْرَان‏ - Āl ‘Imrān [3 : 77])
And there is indeed another section of them who, whilst reciting the Book, twist their tongues so that you may take their inverted expression as (part of) the Book, whereas it is not from the Book. And they say: ‘It is (all) from Allah,’ while it is not (at all) from Allah. They invent a lie against Allah and they know (it) themselves as well.‏
      (آل عِمْرَان‏ - Āl ‘Imrān [3 : 78])
No human being whom Allah blesses with the Book and Wisdom and Prophethood has the right to say to the people: ‘Be my servants instead of Allah’s.’ (He would rather say:) ‘Be the devotees of Allah because you teach the Book and because you study it yourselves as well.’‏
      (آل عِمْرَان‏ - Āl ‘Imrān [3 : 79])
Nor would that Messenger ever command you to take the angels and the Prophets as Lords. Would he command you (now) to disbelieve after you have become Muslims?‏
      (آل عِمْرَان‏ - Āl ‘Imrān [3 : 80])
And, (O Beloved, recall) when Allah took a firm covenant from the Prophets: ‘When I give you the Book and Wisdom, and then there comes to you the Messenger (who is exalted in glory above all and) who shall validate the Books you will have with you, you shall then, most certainly, believe in him and most surely help him.’ Allah said: ‘Do you affirm, and on this (condition) hold fast to My heavy covenant?’ All submitted: ‘We affirm.’ Allah said: ‘Bear witness then, and I am also with you amongst the witnesses.’‏
      (آل عِمْرَان‏ - Āl ‘Imrān [3 : 81])
(Now admonished all mankind:) ‘Then he who turns away after this (affirmation), it is they who will be the disobedient.’‏
      (آل عِمْرَان‏ - Āl ‘Imrān [3 : 82])
Do they seek some din (religion) other than Allah’s? And whoever is in the heavens and the earth has embraced His obedience (whether) by choice or by constraint, and to Him shall they all be returned.‏
      (آل عِمْرَان‏ - Āl ‘Imrān [3 : 83])
Say: ‘We believe in Allah and in that which has been sent down to us and in that which has been revealed to Ibrahim (Abraham), Isma‘il (Ishmael), Ishaq (Isaac) and Ya‘qub (Jacob) and their descendants and that which has been given to Musa (Moses), ‘Isa (Jesus) and all other Messengers by their Lord (we believe in all). We do not make distinction in our faith in any of them, and to Him we submit ourselves.’‏
      (آل عِمْرَان‏ - Āl ‘Imrān [3 : 84])
And whoever seeks a din (religion) other than Islam that shall not at all be accepted from him, and he will be amongst the losers in the Hereafter.‏
      (آل عِمْرَان‏ - Āl ‘Imrān [3 : 85])
How shall Allah guide those who disbelieved after embracing faith whilst they had borne witness that this Messenger is true, and clear signs too had come to them? And Allah does not guide the wrongdoers.‏
      (آل عِمْرَان‏ - Āl ‘Imrān [3 : 86])
The punishment of such people is that they are continually plagued by the curse of Allah, of the angels and of all mankind.‏
      (آل عِمْرَان‏ - Āl ‘Imrān [3 : 87])
They shall remain (imprisoned) under this curse forever. And neither will this torment be lessened, nor will they be given respite,‏
      (آل عِمْرَان‏ - Āl ‘Imrān [3 : 88])
Except those who repent and mend (their) ways. Allah is, indeed, Most Forgiving, Ever-Merciful.‏
      (آل عِمْرَان‏ - Āl ‘Imrān [3 : 89])

As an ex ‘brand Muslim’ myself I was particularly interested in this podcast.
It didn’t disappoint although I do have some differences from a female and ‘convert’ perspective. I found MUCH of this guy’s experience is CULTURAL NOT theological. He also fails to make a distinction between the Hadith and Quran.
I grew up an atheist and ‘became Muslim’ so my rationales for joining and leaving are somewhat different. (Mine are mostly academic and resonate more closely with Biblical criticism (Quranic criticism).
This guy has had more of a ‘traditional exit’ from a ‘cultural norm’ as someone who did not grow up with critical thinking. (Turkish religious education) It would be interesting to examine those who grow up in secular societies (Turkey is not truly Secular) WITH critical thinking and become Muslim.
Not critiquing this lovely guy but there are much more complex journeys and perspectives. I hope you make the effort to reach out and hear them or else this podcast just reinforces the ‘stereotypical’ western understandings of Islam that continue our ignorance in not REALLY appreciating the issues presented by the current Islamic milieu.

@@Mr.PhatsVarietyVibesShow it might be true that Muhammad was an ‘Arab’ and the Quran is also written in Arabic but ALL abrahamic religions (Judaism, Christianity and Islam) are ‘SEMITIC’ originating from the Middle East and the Semitic people. Over two millennia they have then been dispersed and modified across the cultures they have infected. Parts have remained whilst other elements have become unrecognisable. You only need to observe the confused theological mess of Muslims in Mali mixing Voodoo in their practices or the Christians of Nigeria to understand that the ‘theological’ appreciation of a religion is often FAR FAR away from the cultural experiences.
You could also ‘secularise’ this and look at the so called ‘communist capitalism’ of China to realise that ‘labels rarely mean ANYTHING!
Therefore you spent MANY MANY sentences making a rather erroneous point that can apply to all ideologies, narratives/myths across all of time.
My interest is in the theological and philosophical. Whilst I might have enjoyed ‘mint tea and bakalawa’ it never made me Muslim from a theological perspective. Nor did I ever give my loyalty to any ‘Arab’, which in itself is a nonsensical point as most of my experiences were of Berber origin. It is also most certainly NOT taught theologically within Islam that anything other than a ‘monotheistic’ entity should be worshipped. It is considered Idol worship to give special attention to any ‘man’. (Although it is true that many Muslims (like Christians) have become worshippers of the prophet Muhammad. (Again cultural rather than theological).
Nor do your observations fully appreciate the cultural diversity of over 1.6billion Muslims from over 200 countries across the globe.
After 22years of associating with Muslims from all over the world (from North Africa, South east Asia, Indonesia and China) I have been fascinated to discern the cultural v’s theological kaleidoscopes of how Islam is interpreted at the local levels.
As for dress and clothing. It’s true that just like the communists in China had a uniform or you could even suggest the ‘suited and booted’ of Wall Street dress to belong to a tribe, these observations are also irrelevant to the topic at hand which is ‘what are the core teachings of Islam’?
From your remarks it is clear you have never read the Quran in Arabic or English. I have done both and this has been the most educational process in terms of understanding the religion and being able to discern it from the usual cultural messes that most ideologies become caught up in.

I think a more realistic argument for the growth of empires could be made. In the case of the Arabs, what actually happened is, as each region was added to the empire, its population was added to the available manpower pool. When Egypt was converted to Islam, the Rashidun Caliphate gained millions of adherents. It was the same with Rome (as with all empires). When Rome conquered Etruria, the power of Etruria was added to Rome, etc. Consider the Ottomans ... a small tribe enters and settles in western Anatolia and eventually becomes a huge empire. As the Seljuk Turks in Asian Minor were slowly absorbed by the Ottomans, they also became Ottoman. It is not so simple, of course, because ethnic identities are also retained. The Egyptians stayed being Egyptians, but they also took on a new identity when they were conquered by the Caliphate.

This always disturbs me why is Allah so much insecure of his position as Almighty ; that he considers any other worhsip apart from him suitable for an Eternal Hell..This God sounds Egoist ; Jealous ; Insecure to me...but as per One Suprme God of Vedas ; God says who worhship other Gods also worship him in Worng way and God says he is one who makes their Faith steady because as per Vedic Religon God is very open hearted and Free of all forms of hate and Envy and jealousy.. ..this makes more sense to me ...And God of Vedas is more interested in Relationship than Sectarian Religon..he is more interested in our Purity than our Rituals..
The Western monotheistic traditions frequently depict God to be jealous; he forbids the worship of any other gods and even approves the destruction of their places of worship.
In contrast, the Bhagavad-gita reveals a God who is not jealous but is zealous. Krishna as God is concerned not about guarding his position as the exclusive object of worship, but about facilitating the spiritual evolution of everyone. Knowing that some spiritually under-evolved people won’t be ready to worship him, he arranges for them to worship other gods - a worship that can serve as a starting spur for the spiritual journey of those souls.
Krishna as God is concerned not about guarding his position as the exclusive object of worship, but about facilitating the spiritual evolution of everyone.
Souls in their spiritual kindergarten, by acknowledging the need to worship some being greater than themselves, begin the process for kindling the mood of devotion towards the Supreme. Krishna assists them by strengthening their faith in the demigods (07.21) and by empowering the demigods to bless according to that faith (07.22). Nowhere in the Gita does Krishna endorse violent intolerance towards other gods - a defining feature of the jealous God.
No doubt, Krishna unambiguously describes his supreme position as the source of all the gods (10.02). And he also unequivocally urges everyone to give up all other forms of worship and surrender to him alone (18.66).
Does this call demonstrate his jealousness?
No, it too demonstrates his zealousness, albeit in a different, more direct way.
This call expresses Krishna’s compassionate desire that souls who are ready to worship him return to him as quickly as possible by taking the best path for their spiritual growth: the path of pure devotional service to him.
Thus, both in arranging for the worship of other gods and in endorsing his exclusive worship, Krishna demonstrates the same zealousness for others’ elevation - a zealousness customized according to their level of receptivity.

FOR MY MUSLIM FRIENDS - AN INVITATION FOR INTELLECTUAL ENQUIRY
    QURAN VS BHAGVAT-GITA
When it comes to religious matters, there are always debates and discussions as to which is the perfect religion that guides towards salvation and teaches one to be a perfect human being. Presenting facts about religion is a tough task as most of them try to hide the shortcomings of one's religion. But what is not to be forgotten is truth cannot be hidden and by some means it will prove its existence.
There are much arguments about Quran and Bhagavad Gita, considering there complete contradictory nature. Muslims have always argued that the Quran is the only path to see God, while Hindus believe that attaining salvation (moksha) is equivalent to seeing God which can be achieved by developing good deeds.
    HOLY QURAN
    1. Quran says: Islam is the only true religion. The God gets upset when one “sets up partners in worship with Him” (Quran, 4:116).
    2. Only those who believe in Quran can go to heaven. And there is no place than hell for Kafirs (non-believers). Allah punishes people those who worship other Gods which is described in the words….“Lâ ilâha illa Huwa” (No one should be worshiped other than Allah) (Quran, 6:102).
    3. Quran describes Muslims are the only rightful people and raised for mankind (Quran, 3:110). Heaven is the ultimate goal of life and every man should try to get it in their life.
    4. Quran says followers needs to fear him and if followed, he will grant reward (Quran 65.5). It also describes that every Muslim should perform 5 times prayer, go to Haj, if not, ready to face fire in hell. The book also says, “Unless I proclaim what I receive from Allah and His Messages: for any that disobey Allah and His Messenger,- for them is Hell: they shall dwell therein for ever.” (Quran 72.23)
    5. Quran says, that Muslims must obey Allah and his guidance and anyone who intends to follow other religion will never be accepted (Quran 3.85).
NOW LETS US LOOK AT WHAT BHAGAVAT GITA SAYS…
    1. Bhagavad Gita doesn’t believe in self centered attitude. The Lord says, I am in everyone’s heart as a soul. “As soon as one desires to worship some demigod, I make his faith steady so that he can devote himself to that particular deity.” (Bhagavad-Gita, 7:21).
    2. Gita mentions that there is only one God, but people see him in different forms (Bhagavad-Gita, 7:22).
    3. The Gita says “He is a perfect yogi who, by comparison to his own self, sees the true equality of all beings, in both their happiness and their distress, O Arjuna!” (Bhagavad-Gita, 6:32). It says Karma will decide ones fate and religion, heaven and hell has no meaning in Gita.
    4. Krishna says, do not fear me, do your duties and your work will protect you ever (Bhagavad Gita 18.66).
    5. Krishna says, I envy no one, nor am I partial to anyone. I am equal to all. But whoever renders service unto Me in devotion is a friend, is in Me, and I am also a friend to him.(Bhagavad Gita 9.29).
    6. Gita allows free thinking, All activities should be performed without attachment or expectations and as performed as duty from whole heart, That is My opinion, says Krishna (Bhagavad Gita 18.6). By saying That is my opinion, he allows free thinking and allows people to decide what is right or wrong.

The thing about Islam is; the Qur'an is virtually untranslatable. There are words that have switched meanings through out the centuries and thus any translation would reflect the most recent meaning of a given word and not the original one. The first time the Qur'an was recorded was before the punctuation system similar to the Hebrew (Niqqud) system, both of which were invented by the same guy incidentally. So naturally some consonants were to be discerned from context.
There are several single syllable words, and one distinct multisyllable word, that are unintelligible by any Arabic language standard, but are meaningful to someone familiar with Syriac Christian, Hebrew and even Coptic Christian Gematria. The chapter names have Pagan, Astro-theological (and even Masonic) references that in many cases are only accessible to native Arabic speakers like myself, and even then it is still difficult, because the spelling of some words was readjusted for Gematria purposes.
And there is of course the fact that many Arabic words have ancient Egyptian origins, but in general, Westerners can't distinguish them, mostly because they can't pronounce the dreaded consonants such as these ع - ح- ط- خ-ظ-ض And transliterate them instead with inaccurate consonants.
Several Coptic Christian monasteries still hold valuable manuscripts from the earlier days of Islam that contain Earth-Shattering revelations about it, just like several ones also hold manuscripts from the early days of Christianity that contain many surprises. The most famous example were the Naga Hammadi library, which was buried near a Coptic Christian monastery in Upper Egypt. But the manuscripts held by monasteries are held in extreme secrecy, and you only hear the occasional tid-bit in confidence from a priest or a monk who is a friend or a relative.
In other words, it is a Clusterf*ck of gigantic proportions that from what I see, still mostly defy the scholarly circles.

If humans know anything about God its that His god. Muhammed is not god. So he is not God servant. Jesus was a person that strived after being without sin , he is better than Muhammed. We are seeing in all religions the "survival of the most unhinged". Nominally scientifically rational sects like Anglicanism are going out the door backwards while fundamentalists churches are the biggest and the ones which are growing. It's easy to understand because being both scientific and religious involves increasingly complex mental mental gymnastics and for most people that is unsatisfactory. We are seeing the polarisation of religiosity. The churches which are adapting to modern science are actually signing their own death warrants.

    • @PeterGregoryKelly
      @PeterGregoryKelly 3 роки тому

For this reason I disagree with Apostate Prophet's prediction that adapting to scientific advances is a ticket for a religion to survive. Rather it is a ticket for an express train to extinction. I think AP may be allowing his hopes to cloud his assessment. Far from Islam being in danger of disappearing it is growing faster than Christianity, and those elements of Christianity which are growing fast are the mad fringe elements, which in America already, constitute the majority of Christians. About 40% of Americans believe in the genesis version of creation and, taking into consideration non believers, and followers of other faiths necessarily means that fundamentalists ALREADY constitute the majority of American Christians.

A good topic has been chosen and X-Muslim has raised very good questions on Islam. But the root cause of the current fundamentalism and extremism of the Islamic world has not been given the importance it should have been given.
The Islamic world was politically, socially, intellectually and economically hollowed out even before the First World War.
Since World War I, it was increasingly dominated by Western imperial powers,
and at one point it was completely occupied by Western powers.
At that time, the Western powers could give whatever direction they wanted to give to the Islamic world.
    Unfortunately,
the Western powers, fearing the return of the Turkish Caliphate and the spread of Russian socialism, imposed the extremism of Wahhabi Islam on the Islamic world to compete.
In particular, the slogan of Pan-Islamism was used against Russian socialism.
So-called Jihadi organizations were created at the expense of billions of dollars to fight in Afghanistan and then let loose all over the world.
Under the pretext of action against these organizations, the United States and its allies show their power by raining bombs and missiles on the Islamic world wherever they want.
The same Western imperialism imposed dictators and kings on the Islamic world along with this religious extremism,
so that the Muslim world remained backward and enslaved.
For this purpose, the Western powers used part of the wealth earned from the resources of the Islamic world.
    If the Western powers wanted,
they could have made the whole world a great place during their period of political and intellectual dominance, but for their own temporary interests, they have left a large part of the world in backwardness, ignorance,
    extremism, and political chaos.

Atheists, free thinkers and Buddhists are not bothered whether the Buddha is criticized/insulted or not. His teachings have to be challenged according to the Buddha it self and except or reject if it fits/or does not fit ones intellectual wisdom. With time certain beliefs got added which is scientifically impossible. So these beliefs and supernatural statements cannot be accepted by the wise. Thats the difference

There's no compulsion because the Quran says that Allah calls those who he wills (even then, non-Muslims are subject to taxation and different rights under Islamic law). But if you become a Muslim and then leave it means that Allah has called you and you have rejected him, so it's a big sin and that's why it's supposed to be punished. So yeah, it's better to not become a Muslim in the first place if you value your life.

Walter Williams says Muhammed never existed in his book The Historical Origin of Islam.
I always recommend his book and another one titled: Three Famous Impostors by Adam Freeman.
I think a lot of these characters are literary creations. Constructs. Their existence historically cannot be proven. Abraham, Moses, Jesus and Muhammed.
All three of the Western Abrahamic faiths are clever propaganda- The Bible and The Quran. Tools of imperialistic conquest and colonization.
It would be interesting to see a world more influenced by science, reason, research and critical thinking than fairy tales and comic books.

Muhammed is an constructed person and an emergens of two diffrent individuals Alistair and Mahmut.

Worshipping only one God is more in line with the natural inclinations of the human mind than worshipping multiple things, such as the self, desires, pleasures, relationships to others, greed, money, or even animals like dogs, cats, snakes, and cows. This is because worshipping only one God aligns with the inherent human desire for a higher purpose and meaning in life.
Moreover, worshipping with a genuine script such as the Quran can provide a unique and challenging perspective that requires exploration and contemplation. The Quran offers insights that can challenge experts in various fields, including human history, science, biology, human physiology, and psychology. True followers of the Quran can gain wisdom and knowledge that can further enhance their understanding of the world and their place in it.

I have an objection to Apostate view that Muhammed became more critical towards jews at the end of the completion of the Quran. But one of the last chapters, doesn't lay claim over jewish beliefs. It mentions merely that jews needs to follow their laws given to them. And that G-d entrusts the rabbis to keep the book intacts. And that they shouldn't be hypocrites when imposing laws and prefering laws over another. This is said in 5:43-44
And here 5:43 explicitly says that they should not come to muhmmad to asks questions about Islam, such jews merely seeks discord and divisions. They have their own laws to take care of. Chapter 5 "The Tables" is one of the last chapters, in the Quran.
It may be true to some degree what Apostate Prophet says, but there is still some degree of that the covenant between jews and gGod is not broken, towards the later narrations.
