This is my favorite Mohglike boss. Also, that jump dodge at 7:53 is consistent and quite easy if you can aim to land close to his back. Also shoutout to Anderson for helping me develop the the neutral jumping r2 strat. It was footage of him doing it and low profiling the melee swings coupled with his ridiculous claim that you cant attack ER bosses from neutral and that you totally could do that and not get punished in previous titles that led me to this combat strategy. Oh and quick correction to the challenge parameters, I am using the Purifying Crysteal Tear only in the mixed physick.
Personally I think Mohg is the best Boss in the Game. There are bosses who have aspects in their design that are better than him, but Mohg is just really good at everything with no major downsides. While I have encountered the jank mentioned in the description, it has never been more than a minor annoyance.
The attack is misleading people dodge the claw marks because they think thats the source of damage and then get caught by the blast. Its a pretty bad telegraph. Every fucking streamer I watch does this
LET'S FUCKING GOOOOOOOOO! Huge congrats Loopie god it had to have been hell... I wasn't able to see the streams unfortunately, but based on your reaction and some of my personal experience with Mohg on low rl (not rl1+0 - rl 36+6) DAMN have I felt the sweet sweet victory! It is goddamn *insane* that you managed to never step into these bloodflames, and just the smoothness of it all... no words, you are a beast!
I had enough of the Devil’s lettuce in my system to be considered on another planet and still mustered up just enough awareness to type “BANGER” at the end. Because it was.
Does this thumbnail mean that Chris Hansen was the Zwei Guy all along !? Also Mohg was in a role-playing chat room. Miquela and him were just role-playing dude.🤷♂
Yeah beating mohg with an unupgraded zweihander at rl1 is pretty cool. But when's the feeble king "In defense of elden ring boss design" reaction video?
Honestly probably just gonna do a livestream react to it tonight if I get Godfrey and then package it into a UA-cam video if it's worth it. I still haven't seen it yet.
Its funny how Andy never figured out the claw swipe doesnt damage you but the explosion after does and its timed SOMEHOW PERFECTLY to catch a reaction roll. Almost like the devs know how most people play these games and (made bosses around the player characters moveset. Almost like they're both in the same plain of existence)
I'm hoping to hear some Opeth as a background music. That would fit the insanity of Fromsoft combat. Mogh is just a George RR Martin esque concept: not a grey character like most, just pure evil to a grotesque degree. It makes it more satisfying when you destroy that fcker. But yeah, it isn't undodgeable or unreasonable, it's very slow and predictable.
@LupineOs the songs in the video! But I mean also the Spotify playlist would be dope, you clearly have my kind of taste in music. But the playlist would be amazing for a boss fight I'm doing for my dnd game
@@professionalhimbo for DnD on spotify there is a playlist called Dnd ambient and another Called Curse of Strahd Battle Music that I use. Edit: Nihil has been tested without upgraded flasks, that complaint is false. I understand enjoying the feeling of Nihil, and i do too to an extent, but mandatory damage to beat a boss just never feels good to me unless the game is built with it in mind. I don't mind the damage aura on Smelter Demon, because lifegems counter it perfectly, but I do mind Nihil because, if you were to level Vigor and not acquire flask upgrades, then Nihil flatly denies you the right to fight Mohg phase 2. I am aware that that is a very specific situation that no one would ever fall into... Oh wait. I did. It literally happened to me when i took a character i used for a casual speedrun to fight him, and because I ignored the flasks for time, Nihil literally denied me the right to fight Mohg. I had to go out and acquire seeds to power chug Nihil, which definitely runs counter to the idea that any player can defeat any boss at any time if they are simply good at the game.
I dunno man, mohg is pretty late game and Nihil only takes 3 flasks. Typically i get about 6 or 7 flasks before even doing godrick in alot of runs. It sucks you encountered that but i still feel like it had the desired effect of making the player feel like they are outmatched in power level. Making you feel something is what art is all about, whether it's awe or dread. If what you feel is frustration then there's no shame in doing other things like leveling up on other bosses and finding more flasks. Encountering a brick wall of skill and stats and forcing you to explore more to level up and improve your skill are what open world and metroidvanias are all about
on a 60 vigor character, nihil would do around 760 hp to you 3 times (~40%), dealing a total of around ~2,300 damage. a +0 flask will heal 250 hp. so with 1900 hp you will be able to survive nihil even with +0 flasks at 60 vigor. What im trying to say is this is flat out not true at all lmao
@@loopine make no mistake, I absolutely love Mohg, and believe he is in a fourway tie for best endgame boss with Placidusax, Godfrey, and Maliketh (none of those even come close to Morgott tho), but my belief is that in a Soulslike, any player, at any time, can defeat any boss, regardless of build, gear, or exploration. My first playthrough of Dark Souls on the Switch, my first souls experience ever, saw me fight O&S on medium roll with a lightning spear. I went for Super Ornstein. He is resistant to lightning, had a moveset no other boss in the game prior or after until the DLC could match in complexity, and was after a difficult 2v1. I was chipping away at him using only my skill, as my weapon definitely wasn't doing me favors, my flasks were limited and my health couldn't take much abuse. And in spite of all of that, it only took 16 attempts. Even with limited flasks, a bad weapon, and medium roll, they were still possible for me to beat, as was every other boss in the game. THAT is what I mean. I didn't need to leave and explore, or power level, or boost my healing, I just had to git gud (I can't believe I'm saying that un-ironically). Mohg, again, is a great boss, but it definitely is possible to not be "geared enough" to fight him in a franchise where gear is, in every other scenario, a margin of error.
Wtf was that at 7:50??? You can jump over the explosion? Is it positioning dependent or can you just do it in front of him? I always thought the explosion came out as a bubble, but maybe I'll check it's hitbox on cheat engine because that's really cool. Fun fact there's actually a third jump dodge you can do against him. The second hit of his overhead spin combo can be jumped over (more like jumped through). It looks super weird. Only works if you're close enough to touch his belly button. It's the one he does at 1:55 Also you can just strafe the vertical jump attack in P2. The one 4:14. Just get close to him and circle him when he flies up. The hitbox is super generous.
Yea you can strafe the charge as well if you are close. Yea the jump on the p2 explosion finisher is consistent and easy if you unlock and kind of drift around. Most consistent way I've found is rolling forward and right to get to his side and the jumping in a bit of an arc towards his back.
