Thank You for this video of the Dakota. What an amazing place and a really well done description of what it would have been like to possibly have stayed there in the 70's and 80's. Q: Is that the same rooftop that Paul McCartney and John Lennon supposedly had spent together when Paul had visited before his concert? (This would have been during the time where they were trying to pay the Beatles to do a live performance).
Elvis use to walk around outside his gated home and walk right up to the gate and sign autographs. He also rode his horses for all to see, but the most dangerous thing he did was to let fans come inside his home. He would tell his bodyguards to go down to the front gate and bring people up to his house. He certainly took huge risks there, that’s for sure.

I worked in Central Park back in the day, now Strawberry Fields, when John would come into the park with Sean. He was living his best life with Sean, with no crowds or security. He was just John Lennon. It was such a good time...RIP John Lennon...
Of course anyone with a heart would feel empathy for Yoko. John chose her and although I love Julian and Cynthia, it is his choice. He could have handled it better but then again he had a difficult childhood himself and most likely lacked the emotional skills.

I lived on 69th street between Columbus and CPW. In 1975 I had the second Japanese Akita dog, Kendo in NYC. Walking to the park on 72nd st. one rainy night. A couple stopped me to ask about Kendo, it was Yoko tell John that this was the Japanese dog. He said “what a good looking dog”! He would stop in the market and ask “where’s Kendo? He would always say hi! When ever he saw me. Just like many of neighbor around the park. I Lao was coming out the park on 72nd st. around 10:30ish on 12/8/80 and heard the the shot and saw the chaos, and was in deep shock hearing John was shot.
Some time after I was helping a friend who did work in the Dakota refinishing furniture and other refurbishment of house items. It is a fascinating building. I also met Lauren Becall, Roberta Flack, all while walking my dogs. 🤙

I met and talked with Yoko at an art gallery in Chicago in 1986. Among other things we talked about John. She was sweet, wonderful and gracious. Not just to me but to everyone there. We hugged and she kissed my cheek. My experience was that she was a wonderful person. Also, one of my middle school students wrote to her and she wrote back and apologized for having taken so long. My student was over the moon. Thanks for this touching video.

How would you know how Yoko was with Julian!
You wouldn't, you weren't there?
It doesn't matter what someone else may have said, commented or written, only Yoko and Julian know what really happened and went on in their live's, with John Lennon, when he was here, and since his passing!
Because life continues, with those still left, and I read somewhere, that Julian, and his Dad, with Yoko, had a great relationship with each other, and it still continues to this very day, with Yoko and his brother Shaun, nothing will ever change that.
Julian during his childhood times, with his Mum (Cynthia) might have been strained and difficult, especially for his Mum, as John had gone off with another woman, leaving Cynthia, for this other woman, which for Julian's Mum would have been extremely emotional and hard to get through, at the time.
Cynthia would have put Julian's Dad, John, down, and painted a dismil picture of John Lennon, telling Julian his Dad didn't love or care for him any more, but that was how Julian's Mum, Cynthia would have been feeling.
Splitting up with someone you love, or loved, or supposedly loved, is a very difficult time for all parties concerned.
It feels like the end of the world, is happening, especially for the person, or person's being left behind, (and it is for those people.)
For John Lennon, he had come to a discision to go and be with (Yoko in this case), which mean't for him, to have to tell Cynthia he was leaving her, and that was going to be a difficult thing to do!
How, when, not an easy task, to do it, plus not an easy discussion, to make.
A lot of personal thought, feeling's, heart felt thing's, sentimental stuff, traditional every day
habitual habits that people do as a family, (play school stuff, kindy,) suddenly all falls on the responsibility of the parent being left behind, because there is no Dad living at home any more, only Mum, which all falls on her.
It all sounds very bad what John Lennon did this to his wife Cynthia, because he was accually leaving to be with this other woman.
This sort of behaviour happens everyday, people leave their family situation to be with another person.
Someone always gets hurt, the person leaving, always gets the full blame for this, making them the bad selfish, thoughtless individual, who from that moment on, gets ribbed, abused, accused of being a bad human being, when in accual fact they're not!
and it doesn't mean, or make them a bad thoughtless person.
I know, I've been through it, (but I never went off to be with an other person)
I'm a good person, kind and caring and generous, with who I am, but I am still tarred with that brush, and even though it happened a long time ago, my ex still puts me down, and blames me for it, even though she is the one that went off with the other person, had them come and live in our family home, with my children, and started having a life with them, the wholetime educating my children that I'm no good !!?!!
How does that work? or make it so?
My children don't talk to me, or have anything to do with me, ignor me, don't get back to me, when I text one of them, the other one I have no idea of his whereabouts!
So it is all very difficult trying to a grandfather to a grandson, I've never met!

The reason I left, was because of her what she was up to, I couldn't put up with it, I had to leave, other wise I might not be around now.
My present partner is a gem, she loves me, cares about me, we keep and make each other happy and contented, we always do things together, run plans and thoughts, idea's passed each other, so we can be on the same page with one another, life is great, we see and spend a lot of time with her family, grandchildren, cousin's, and we spend time with our friends and mates, my family, brother's, My Mum is 91, we chat a lot, she is Sharpe as a pin, and still living in her own home.
But my children have no contact with me, and this saddens me a lot, I think about them everyday.
John Lennon came from a broken home, his father and mother didn't stay together, for whatever the reason may have been.!?
We will never know!?
John lived with his mother's sister, unless she was his Dad's sister, or a great Aunty or something, we may never know.
Julian may know!?
During John and Yoko's time together, Julian spent quite a lot of time with them, weeks or months, because John and Yoko originally lived not far from London.
John would have had
plenty of access to see and have his son Julian.
Same when John and Yoko decided to go live in New York, Julian would go and stay with them, a lot, more than people realise.
What Julian might say about his Dad, is what his Mum brought him up to think and feel, Julian always loved his Dad, as did his Dad (John Lennon) loved him dearly.
The way family court's operate the system is this!!!
Usually it ends up that both parents are working!
But if only one of these people are working, and the custodian parent isn't,
(For example) John Lennon had money, and paid his taxes.
Usually before the person who is working, gets their pay packet, the Tax office will take out the
Required Maintenance amount, and put it direct into the (Custodian's) bank account, so that the money is automatically deposited into their account, that way the money is always available for the 'Custodian' carer, parent, to do as they will with the money for the child (children)
This way the Government control the system, and how it works.
No one can accually get away with not paying, or avoiding making the payment.
It's accually Impossible not to.
If in a country where there is no family welfare system in place, they may have other rules. !?
In the UK, Australia, America, Canada, I know our systems all work very similar.
I can't speak for other countries.
John Lennon loved his son Julian as much as he did Shaun, John didn't leave Julian, he left Cynthia, this is what people need to realise, and stop blaming Yoko, she has her own children to worry about as well, and as she is the parent with the money, she too would have been paying money for her daughter's up keep.
Life was never mean't to be easy.
If one looks close to how it a was for John Lennon, he suffered emotionally on all levels, I personally think he was a very sentimental feeling human being, or how could he write such deep and meaningful things about life, and his and Yoko's expression's about equality of life amongst the rest of us.
These Lennon's are good people, how can one not see that.
Did you know she withheld things John left to Julian? He actually had to buy them back from her. Things John left to his own son that is very telling

I was a little hesitant before starting this video because I thought it would be exploitative. But it turned out to be a beautiful meditation on the life of John and Yoko, as well as the life of an extraordinary building. Thank you for sharing with us.

John looked like he really enjoyed living there. And wow, what a building! It's sad that he isn't around to continue enjoying it. I sometimes wonder what he would be doing today. He was taken at such an early age, away from his family, friends, & mates. He had more music to give us, I'm sure, his life-long fans of many years. Thanks for this tour & the great photos. I've always heard that Yoko was/is a hard core artist and the work that I've seen of hers has tended to reflect that. I'd forgotten her using his bloodied eyeglasses in an image, but to me, it's proof positive of her uncompromising artistic eye. RIP John -- thank you for sharing him with us, Yoko. Such an intimate, unsparing photo. Just. Wow.
@@BJones-yw4dd You’re so right about her artistic integrity. The power of the Season of Glass photo is nearly overwhelming; the day the album was released I saw it and almost fainted. Its conception and execution are as brilliant as any photograph, drawing or painting I’ve ever seen.
I'm was happy to see the whole family together with Julian and Sean. At least they knew their father and he was a family man for a while and had a wicked life.

In my humble opinion, I feel that Yoko did what she could in expressing her grief in a most sincere way. Being so famous, I’m sure that everything she says and does was/is scrutinized. By taking a picture of John’s glasses, overlooking the trees with the sky above, and the finality of a glass half full or half empty, symbolizes her feelings of grief. She also shows the outward appearance of John being free to fly and be free. The sadness of knowing that her “other half” is gone is expressed through the half glass of water. I think it’s brilliant and tragic at the same time. All of this captured by her without saying a word that could be quoted or misquoted as well as taken wrong.

I live in New York and go past the Dakota all the time . I was waiting at the bus stop opposite the building when I looked up and saw the architectural panel numbers inscribed that indicate the date the building was erected : 1881 . I realized that these two sets of numbers 81 plus 81 both add up to number 9 !
I just want to say thank you. I was 15 when Mr Lennon was murdered. I was devastated. It was at the height of my appreciation for the Beatles. Room covered with posters, books cassettes. All Beatles. Thank you for this video. What joyous memories you bring me!
John’s bloodstained glasses remind me so strongly of Jackie Kennedy’s refusal to change out of he pink Chanel suit, soaked with the blood of JFK. She refused, they say, declaring “No, let them see what they’ve done. I think this is one of the most poignant expressions of grief I’ve ever seen. I can’t imagine how strong Yoko must have been, how absolutely bereft, to create this work. It is art on a par with St. Gauden’s sculpture “Grief”. We see what’s been done and it is heart wrenching.
The background music is nice. I feel very sorry for julian. Clearly John had tremendous wealth. Yoko spent it like crazy. They should have been much more generous to julian.
The same guy who told us in a song to imagine no possessions lived in a building where an apartment goes for around $20 million today not to mention his other places. Never looked those two.

Yoko is the daughter of Tokyo bankers. She took John's fortune of around $85 million, made smart investments and built it into $250 million by 1980. She did not "spend it like crazy." She is also an accomplished classically trained pianist. John once asked her to play the opening notes of Beethoven's "Moonlight Sonata" backwards once, and the result was made into the Beatles' song "Because." Above and beyond all else, Yoko made John happy. She helped him become his most free and authentic self at a time when he felt he was stagnating in the Beatles. I love the Beatles, but I love her for that.

I renovated the apartment above J & Ys apartment. And like there place, the owners cobbled several apartments together to the point where they maxed out the square foot limit they could own. Amazing building!

cynthia had a premonition of tragedy just before john was shot. she tells about it in her book. it's chilling. i had a dream of john lennon a few days before he died, maybe a week before he died....it was so peaceful. i never dreamt of him before and never have since. he was one of the most important artists of all time in my opinion. the dakota is very magical. it always amazes me.
I lived about a mile away, on West 55th St, I always thought I would see him on the street sometime, then it was too late. I did send him a birthday card once. 😢❤

Thank you so much for this wonderful but sad video on John Lennon. You honored his memory superbly, John Lennon once said that of all the songs he wrote about love before Yoko came into his life, he realized he had not truly experienced real love until he met Yoko. I thought that was a beautiful statement for John to have made. When the Beatles hit the world, I was attracted to John and still am. He was a tremendously talented person as is Paul. It is amazing that in the beginning, when John asked the boys, do you want to start a band, how talented they really were.
I still get really sad when I hear John's amazing voice on the Beatles Channel. I feel bad because some evil person decided to take the life of this peaceful person who loved living in the USA. I just cannot believe that someone shot John in the back five times and cheated this peaceful man from living a full life. When Paul walked into the studio to sing with Michael Jackson, the room suddenly got quiet, because before them stood one of the most talented man who changed the world of music, even though Buddy Holly was melded into that talent. There will never be another band like the Beatles. When the Beatles came to my state for a concert back in 1964, I was there. When they all walked out on stage and picked up their musical instruments and started singing, I sat there like I was in a trance because before me stood the Beatles singing. There was all this screaming around me, but I did not hear it, because before me was John Lennon and the Beatles singing. I was 13 years old, and I remember it like it was yesterday.
I also saw them in 1964 when I was 17. I was a "quiet" fan like you. I didn't scream or cry, I sat quietly in awe. I was happy❣️ They changed my life forever ❤
I watched em with my mom dad brother on tv, the Ed Sullivan show in February, the world had changed, even in school, the schoolmate said Did you see,? DID you see the Beatles arrived in New York and will perform tonight on the Ed Sullivan show, damn, on Friday before, cold outside, standing in our living or dining room, the radio on, the Beatles arriving in one hour, they, gave the temperature in Beatle degrees, maybe was Cousin Brucie, you grow up like that, born in 55, these things were normal, you were in the era, no controversy, just lived the perfect 1950,s life, till 1964, till 65, than by 67, by 68 I understood, my world had changed, like 199 percent , could still walk down the street in a relaxed 50,s calm, but Jefferson Airplane and Abbie Hoffman had appeared, Woodstock Moon landing Joe Namath, the 69 New York Mets, you COULD NOT LIVE THIS TODAY...no way....
To me, the Dakota is one of the most iconic NYC bldgs. It's breathtaking. The Dakota and other "Art Deco Type" & "Pre-War," bldgs is what sets NYC apart. I love the high ceilings & doorways. Thank you for this lovely video. 🗽🚖👋💯🙏
Art Deco started in the 1920s, the Dakota was built in the 1880s.
Thank you for this excellent video. I had no knowledge about the Dakota's history or the actual location of John's apartments . This brought me closer to John than I'd ever been. It also made me sad about John's absence. If he had lived, he'd be 83 years old and would have seen his boy grow to be a successful man. He would have been proud. I used to live on 73d street on the other side of Columbus Ave. and once saw Yoko at the Korean deli on the corner (as well as passing Carly Simon walking by me with her little girl, back when she lived at the Dakota with James Taylor). I used to come out of the subway, coming home from work every evening, right at the corner of the Dakota at 72d and Central Park West . You did a great job of narration .

Boy did you bring back memories! I used to drive Columbus Ave all the time. At the end of the block you had to turn right, there was/is no left turn... Driving in the city isn't the same today. I learned to drive in NYC and Loved driving in NYC - racing the taxi cab drivers to the Holland Tunnel at 3 AM 😅. Omgosh how I loved to drive the City! Up 6th down 9th, West Side Highway to DeWitt Clinton Park and the carriage horses were in stables across the street....

I can't thank you enough for this video on John's life at the Dakota Building. I'm only just in my 50s, but a life long Beatles fan. And of course John for me has been my hero since childhood.
To the point that yes, I'm one of the many parents to name his son Lennon.
Living in the UK, and not well off enough, I'd never get the chance to visit the Dakota building. Though it's been something I've wanted to do for many years.
Though the closest I've been able to get to John's white piano and his blood stained glasses were at the Beatles museum in Liverpool several years ago. Yes seeing John's glasses do make my blood run cold knowing what happened.
But I keep missing my point here. I've not seen many of these photos of John at the Dakota. And I really appreciate your video showing them. Also, the photos of John and Yoko in Egypt I'd never seen before, or to know of Yoko's sending money to a dig in Egypt. Though from that, I do think it's wrong that she was to have treasures from the dig. As I believe all ancient treasures like that belong in a museum somewhere in the world, or the country they belong to. But that's all the bad I have to say of what Yoko has done.
I still wish peace as best as she can find it, as well as to the boys and all Beatles and John fans ❤
I was privileged enough to be hired to do audio for Yoko Ono back in 1983. I worked with my friend Walter Zabinski (rip) who was hired to put all of John and Yoko’s home movies and videos on 1” broadcast tape. I was able to walk by myself through out both adjacent apartments even allowed to go in and out of the fridge whenever I felt. I was also lucky that their house keeper Ootison liked me very much and always fussed over me. Recording her in the anniversary of John’s death was an experience that I’ll never forget. ❤

As a New York City native his apartment, the location, and that storied address are fitting for a star like John Lennon. My favorite image easily is Yoko standing between those two large gorgeous rooms, ...beautifully decorated btw.
Very well done and interesting video. I saw the bloody glasses that Yoko kept, at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame exhibit. She said she wanted to show and get people to understand the violence that occurred that night. When I saw those glasses, I felt hollow inside and I cried, she also exhibited a paper bag of John’s bloody clothes that they gave her at the hospital. Call it art if you want too,but it really

I remember the morning of December 9, 1980. Seemed like the whole world stopped.
Every radio station played tributes to the Beatles all day.
Every television station aired tributes.
Every publication on the news stands displayed John’s face on the front page.
Even my 6th grade teacher had us do a moment of silence in John’s honor.
I got into the Beatles sadly that Christmas as the Beatles were everywhere on the radio as you said. I was 13. I am a little freaked out at seeing John's glasses covered in blood. I had to play Starting Over and I aisumasen. The monster wasn't gone but he wasn't on the run after the crime of the century. I miss the Beatles Now and Then. !940 - 1980

In these images, John did not exude happiness, to the contrary, there is always an aura of sadness….a part of us always knows, I think he sensed what was coming. This is a great video, thank you.
Overall he seemed less happy since getting with Yoko, he was never the same for some reason.

I believe he never recovered from the loss of Stu, Alma and his mother.
As George H. and Cynthia L. both said, almost verbatim, in 1966 something happened that changed the band. You can see a profound sadness in George, John and Ringo. It is very obvious in photos. John carried the lost of so many people in his heart, from his mother and his uncle George when he was young.
Thanks for taking us inside the Dakota. I've always been curious what it was like. Also big ups to you for not showing that losers photo or mentioning his name. We will remember John Lennon well. I'll never forget that terrible night, it was raining outside and I was sitting up in bed listening to the radio, when the DJ interrupted the song and told us the news. I went into shock! I couldn't believe it, I felt like being trapped in a bad dream. It couldn't be true, but it was. After sobbing like a child for half an hour I finally pulled myself together enough to visit a friend. We spent the rest of the night listening to his music and wishing it was all a mistake or a joke. Even after all these years its still hard to accept.
BTW at 20:39 there's photo of a smiling John sitting in a window sill. Thats how I'll remember him.

One thing that struck me in these photos, is that Yoko is crazy wealthy, and yet in all those years it looks like she kept the furniture in the apartment the same as when John was alive. To me that shows a desire to feel close to him and to have things remain the same even decades after he was gone. Most people move or at least redecorate. I believe she truly loved him and what she saw would leave its mark forever. I was with a man as he passed away just in November. I had only known him 10 days prior to his death and it has changed me forever. I can’t imagine if it was my own husband.

Crazy wealthy and John's first son from first marriage had to fight to get an inheritance I blame Lennon for not making adequate provision for him but Yoko held the purse strings the boy had to fight through court a disgrace plus they should have bought a house with security I mean they had the money and perhaps John Lennon would still be alive

I love this documentary, thank you so much for posting it. John was my favorite Beatle. I don't know about those Egyptian artifacts though from what I have read about what happened to people around the opening of King Tuts tomb and disturbed his belongings.

I remember participating in a long time of quiet with one of our radio stations the night John died. Even far away in Cincinnati, it was my way of joining in a tribute to John then.

Thanks, I just discovered this, what a great video, as a lifelong fan of John Lennon & of course The Beatles & originally from near Liverpool I loved it. I actually saw them live in a Holiday place called Blackpool in the UK when I was little, my Mum & Dad surprised my older Sister & I with tickets. We were so excited & sat down, when the Beatles came on stage, everyone was screaming, so we did too, I loved it, it's something I'll never ever forget. I now live in NJ but I always check out The Dakota Building when I visit NY. I look forward to checking out all your other videos from now on. Thanks again.

I worked at Tower Records at 66th and Broadway in the late 80's and Yoko and Sean used to often shop records there, one time I recall helping her find an Edith Piaf record. Many celebs came into the store, including Brook Shields, Mia Farrell and Woody Allen, Paul Stanley of Kiss, to name a few. By then, the Strawberry Fields section of Central Park was like an ongoing shrine to John, always with flowers and candles there.
I think this is where Rosemary’s Baby was filmed.

This is a wonderfully presented video that I am so glad I watched. I did feel very sad throughout but I appreciate your upbeat attitude encouraging us to think of the happy times and for sharing them with us. I surely did not know all these details and only thought of the Dakota as the place of that horrible and tragic event that took John from all of us. The photo of Yoko with John's bloody glasses and the glass half full or half empty however one sees it was breathtaking. So very touching and so descriptive of Yoko's pain. My son passed away and I still have many of his belongings just as they were when he died so I understand why she would cherish his glasses even though they are so painful to see. In an eerie way, having his blood is somehow having a bit of him still with her. Thank you for sharing this story so we may learn more and more about the man we all loved. Blessings to Yoko and his sons as well as his many friends. Some happiness with such a tragic gone too soon ending
Yoko insisted on the rift between John and Julian. I mean, it's on John anyway, because he could have told her to keep out of it, but it was Yoko who fought against Julian's inheritance and such.
Fascinating - considering that Julian has repeatedly said that Yoko wanted him to have an equal share of the inheritance after the way John abandoned him and Cynthia, but that John refused to do it. Julian said he literally had documents showing that Yoko tried to get John to give him more money, but that John never signed it. Lennon was a complete POS. He was a great songwriter - but an absolute POS.
Yeah, she told you? Shut up! There was no rift, just distance, immigration cases, a strict boarding school Julian attended and his mother remarrying and moving. Julian’s inheritance had nothing to do with Yoko. John set up money to be given to him after him and Cynthia’s divorce and a trust set up and he never changed it even though Yoko doubled their fortune with her business moves.
She also burned the previous owners of their apartment....Ha !
@@cactaceous Kind of correct. Julian got pittens and then sued the Lennon estate Yoko was in control of. So eventually he got something he deserved though Yoko fought it.

I found the video interesting as I liked John and Yoko. But it is also very sad.
I am from the UK, but worked as a bicycle messenger there in 1994 and delivered to the Dakota many times. Always felt a lot of sadness when going there.
I love that pic of Yoko sitting cross-legged next to the Egyptian statue. What a grandly proportioned and light filled space. Views of Central Park and a peaceful courtyard. It may be the most magical space in NYC. I can see why they were happy there. Yes, I was very much alive in the 70s and wore boots like John’s in the picture. They were Fry boots. I loved mine, and they saved one of my legs as I was riding on the back of a motorcycle that flipped on the street. As we skidded, the road ground up my jeans, then went through the thick leather of my Fry boots, then the top layer of my skin, but only a little. Those boots literally saved my skin.
That is the greatest testimony ever for those boots! :)

Being a big fan of John and The Beatles, I am always interested in photo's I have seen before. There were some by Kishin Shinoyana I hadn't seen before. I thought things were going so well for John in 1980, and he was still ahead of his time even then. I will never forget waking up in England to hear the news of his death on the morning of December 9th 1980. Tragic.
His distinct london look cleaned face was so iconic.
yes very sad for Yoko and Sean when John was murdered but I feel especially sorry for Juli his first son he missed out a lot to do with his father ,Julie and had to fight Yoko for what Julie was entitled to A share of Johns Estate .
Correct but John was to blame for not making adequate provision for Julien and Saint Yoko as she is seen on here could have made sure John's first son received what he was entitled to but didn't doesn't sound like the wonderful caring person that she is portrayed on this site Lennon treated Cynthia his first wife disgracefully and to an extent his son Julien so he wasn't the Saint some seem to think

I grew up as a teenager along with the Beatles, I had a strong feeling of sadness as the documentary progressed. Life if dotted with missgivings, this was one, Paul is my age and hanging in still performing well, i wonder how John would manage doing the same today. 😅 🎉🎉

What a wonderful documentary! I've been fascinated with The Dakota since I read Jack Finney's book Time and Again. Great pictures of The Lennon family in their beautiful home, although a bit sad , especially the picture of John's glasses. I don't know how Yoko was able to keep those glasses, uhhhh....too heart breaking. Black and white rooftop pictures are just awesome !
Time and Again is wonderful, one of the books of my life. I read it in the early seventies! I don't remember how I came across it but my boyfriend read it too and we often reference it!

In the early 1980's when I was a teenager, I dreamed that I was being driven along the streets of a city by my Dad and I saw Yoko standing outside the stage door of a theatre. I asked my dad to stop and I went over to her and hugged her. No words were said. It was because of the loss of John, which was completely understood. End of dream. I guess I needed that at the time as I just wanted to do something.
This was one of the most thoughtful, considered and meticulous video I've ever watched. I never wanted it to end. Your knowledge is amazing - especially when there is genuinely so little online about the interior of the Dakota. Thank you so much. Will be grabbing a copy of your book.

I remember years ago it was a random Sunday and I decided to take my GF roller blading in Central Park. Turns out it was the anniversary of John Lennon's death and we ended up at a vigil in Strawberry Fields across from The Dakota. Didn't expect that and all the tears. Someone had a boom box blasting John Lennon music and the cops kicked him out stating he couldn't 't play music in the park. So he went 10 feet away outside the park and pointed his boom box into the park. Lot's of applause ensued.
In this case, foolishness on part of the cops, it's not as if it's a daily event.
Glad the music continued, but sad that the event was interrupted.

To respond to your question, John loved Yoko completely and that should say it all and be enough of a reason to adore her. However, she is and has always been an amazing human being. I’m in awe of her just by the little we know. One of the saddest days of my life was the day we lost John. What an incredible sadness that even for his fans has never resolved, so no I can’t imagine how difficult and devastating it has for her, Sean and Julian. My heart goes out to them.

What breaks my heart is that every day when she leaves or arrives home she hast to walk past the scene of the murder. That would be the tough part for me. Raising my child walking past that threshold daily. I believe if it were me and my kid I would’ve taken them and moved away. I would’ve not remained in the Dakota as gorgeous as it is.
I always thought the same thing, and it looked like she would spend her final years at the Dakota. I only recently heard that she moved out of New York City and is living on a farm that John & Yoko purchased back on the 1970's.
