- Pope Francis and a group of cardinals have approved Carlo Acutis to be canonized as the first Millennial saint. Acutis, who was was known as "God's influencer" on social media, died in 2006 after a battle with leukemia.

@ccwoodlands1565 this particular canonization has been in the works for quite some time. Canonization happens on a regular basis. So there was bound to be a millennial saint canonized eventually.

Prayer should only be to God, not saints.
Not necessarily true at all because you won't get a direct answer from God you primarily have to pray to Jesus Christ to have him deliver the message and yes you most definitely can pray to saints and you can pray to angels too

The Pope and the college of cardinals are not idiots. There is a VAST amount of petitions for canonization to sainthood. There are certain requirements need to be accomplished in order for an individual to be a saint. And to be fair it is refreshing that a millenial would be canonized.
