So true
Well said!
Not according to the leader of the Catholic Church -- if you are Catholic -- you are ignoring the Pope which is sacreligious
No its not!!Pope is infalible only in case when he says something ex chatedra, from Position of Authority of Pontif, like some Dogma witch have been dine only 6times in Church History.
It's bizarre for someone to suggest the church could be out of touch with modern times. It's the other way around. It's modern times that are out of touch with the church. The church doesn't change. People just stray further from the scriptures.
Yep.
“For there will be a period of time when they will not put up with the wholesome teaching, but according to their own desires, they will surround themselves with teachers to have their ears tickled. 4 They will turn away from listening to the truth and give attention to false stories.”
2Timothy 4: 3,4
More true than false, but there are some falsehoods with the church which itself has strayed at times and in some ways is still astray
that says nothing about whether your doctrines are true or not. in the case of this particular religion, they are false, which supports a pattern of literally every single religion having an untrue story about humanity.
@@danam0228yet through god the church has survived even though time tested challenges.
I'm a Christian who went to Catholic Church until I was around 12.
A few years ago, I began reading the Bible on and off to know what it says, and I saw Scriptures that say not to make images and bow down to them, that Jesus is not God and Mary had other children with her husband Joseph, and that we, including Mary, die because we all inherited sin from our first human parents. Jesus was a perfect man without sin, and his was a sacrificial death on our behalf, so that we can gain salvation.
I also learn that our loving Father in heaven and his son, our Savior, Jesus Christ, would not torture sinful people with fire. Adam and Eve was sentence to death for their disobedience and death is the end of life.
These are just a few of many. many things that I've learned. Now, I read the Bible everday and it's a joy.
As a Muslim, I love this pope. He is truly a holy man. May God bless him and give him long and healthy life. My prayers are with you father. ❤

@@heroisdomar4248 I have Jesus in my heart brother. May God bless you.
both Islam and the Catholics agree that Jesus was born into this world from the virgin Mary and that both agree that he performed the miracles bestowed to the people at that time
@@YorakHunt1337 But Islam denies he was God, which is what Jesus said he was.
Nice thought. But if you study the Catholic Faith, you'll see this Pope is not Catholic. Whatever he does is not bringing solutions to the evil. A true Pope who prays will bring God's action and response immediately.

Not my take away at all. I thought she tried her hardest to put words in the Pontiff's mouth. She most certainly had an agenda when she prepared her questions.

@@peterl545Too compassionate for ya, eh? Too embracing of Jesus’s philosophy of love for all regardless of station, even those in mortal sin who are in most need of His love and presence? I loved the Pope’s answer to the concept of conservatism in this interview. He said that the Catholic Church is no longer Christ’s church when it places customs officers as barriers to entry to what should be by nature the universal church- a church for sinners.
Edit: Oh and I very much respect how he described conservatism as a slow suicide because it deprives people of the ability to look beyond a set of beliefs that can become exclusive and used to judge and sideline others. I admire the Holy Father for striving to make the church, at least in tone, a place where all feel welcome. He seems to still grasp the core of Christ’s message, much to the chagrin of the breed of Christian who wields dogma as a weapon to exclude the people who most need Christ’s presence. I hope Pope Francis stays around for at least another decade to continue to serve the underprivileged and to provide a place of shelter for those caught in the storm that is the modern world.

The greatest accomplishment of the church is how it advanced western civilization. Its great mission is how it has addressed the mysteries of the existence of the world and life. The great theologians, philosophers, artists and others inspired by the mystery of faith. The world does not want to live in mystery anymore.
The day will come when the mystical generation of Jesus, by the Supreme Being as his father, in the womb of a virgin, will be classed with the fable of the generation of Minerva in the brain of Jupiter.

The papal apartments are not lavish. It's drafty, cold in winter and Popes sleep in a single bed with sparse furniture. This is a misperception.
Claro ! A los más importantes le damos las peores cosas , bien! Bien !
When the "holy father" entered the room the air around him turn icy cold.🥶
They didn’t say they are lavish. They are pointing out that by choice the pope does not indulge in the lavish side of a popes traditional dwellings. That he does not live in the lavish pope palace. He resides in an apartment
@@von8298 Not really - watch the video again. She does say they are "lavish." And the fact that Francis does not live there is because he does not find them comfortable - which is the truth - they are not comfortable, but a cross for anyone who has to live there.

Those first 11 seconds of this clip where he says, "thank you very much..God Bless you. Pray for me, don´t forget." Such a treasure. I am thinking of his visit to the women´s prison on Good Friday (find the clip on UA-cam)...such a humble and holy man who LIVES the gospel message while so many are worried about which form of the Mass is said and whether or not the priest wears Darth Vader gloves as he celebrates.
The notion that the Church is „out of touch“ with „modern times“ is an example of where people wish for the Church to adapt to the secular world so it makes people feel less guilty about sins they commit. Saint Bruno summarises the answer to this well: „while the world changes, the Cross stands firm“. We ought to find our solace in the Cross, not in the fleeting ideas of the world.
🙏🏻
Hi, 60 Minutes. Thank you for releasing the original version of the interview of His Holiness Papa Francisco. It was considerate of you all. Plus, it's accessible (friendly) for audiences watching.
Glad I caught it; we have cable but watch local stations via over the air transmission, and apparently, CBS is one station we cannot pick up.
Modern times are " out of touch" with the Lord.
why no full interview? why cut the video?
The pope's white cassock is hiding the subtitles.
The church is not called to be conservative or liberal. Those are political terms. The church is called to be like Jesus, to be holy. Can we talk about getting in touch with Jesus, rather than being out of touch with the world? Can we talk about being holy and seek to give up sin? Can we talk about why Jesus died for everyone, and yes, that the Gospel message is for everyone? That means living the whole Gospel, and not trying to change it to fit our idea of how we should live or what it says. Everyone is invited, but not everyone was chosen. Why? Because they did not dress for the feast, did not clothe themselves in Christ. This we have to teach one another to embrace and help one another live. With Jesus, it is possible. He is not an ideal, but a Way of life.
hard to accept and is against the world but the church is right about everything. just watching this made me remember how terrible of a person i am. i need to do better. also really cool show, thank you 60 minutes!

Pope Francis is amazing …
I have The True Faith! It is this: I have faith in Jesus….who he is and what he accomplished! That’s it! Very simple! ❤❤❤
I have to laugh at how the media characterizes the fact that Pope Francis does not live in the "lavish Papal apartments," as if living there is some kind of a sin or something. The Papal apartments were meant for Popes to live there, and knowing a bit about the past several Popes, I highly doubt they were wringing their hands with joy at how "lavish" their lifestyles were. The fact that Pope Francis choses not to live there, may be less of a social statement and simply the fact that he does not find the apartments very comfortable - which any person who visits a European apartment from the renaissance or classical periods, knows is really true. Very uncomfortable.
The pope has made it his intention of living a very simple, non-material life, like Jesus. It is a statement in action. That’s exactly what it is. The palace, it is a palace, and is very lavish. Thus, the point of making the point. 🤔
@@von8298 What does "lavish" mean? The fact is, the Vatican apartments are cavernous and uncomfortable. Other Popes would have liked to live more comfortably and simply but stuck to the Vatican apartments out of a sense of duty, certainly not joy or comfort.
Because your book virulently condemns materialism.

Imagine if all popes had been interviewed this way. What would they have said? What would they have been asked?
If only more Catholics followed in Pope Francis' foot steps...the world would be a much better place.
I liked this feaure. I was raised Catholic and went to Cath. schools through age 17, but never once heard the Gospel of Jesus and the substitutionary atonement.....paying the penalty for sin himself, for us. I was taught that our sins made Jesus suffer and die, and then we had to do all these other things like sacratments, going to confession, make somebody a Catholic convert, etc. etc. etc. wear scapular medals, etc. etc. to continually make up for making Jesus suffer and die. It was only after seeking the Lord and believeing in Him, that I came to know He and His salvation....even before learning the substitutionary atonement....that was a huge surprise of great relief for me, and one of the first things I asked was: "why wasn't I taught this in the Cath. church ? " So like New Testament Romans 7 and 8: I was raised under terms of the Law (Catholic law,) but was saved by grace when I finally believe in Jesus as being the Son of God and asked him into my heart. You might call me a "CatholiProt." (Catholic to Protestant.) (Think "cattle prod" if you can't remember.
THE Church agreed that Martin Luter was right with his thesis, so there is no difference between Cath. and old Prot. ... and sth was deeply wrong with the teaching in your schools.
The Protestants get so angry that the Catholic community is a strong community
because Protestant doesnt have One Authority. they believe everyone of them can teach Scripture. that is why they dont agree to each other and branched further to thousands of denominations.
The Pope asking Norah to pray for him shows how wonderful and humble he is. A very special moment. We all need prayers.
I encourage everyone to read the New Testament and see what it says about Jesus Christ being the only priest we need. If you believe the Bible as a Christian that is what it says in the Bible. That we are saved through Grace when we ask Jesus as our High Priest to forgive our sins. He paid for them on Calvary. It's a free gift not of works, but in the Bible it says how Jesus is the only one we pray through to God Jesus and the Holy Spirit and we're to do that personally and have a personal relationship with Jesus and not go through a priest. I believe what I read in the Bible in the New Testament . I encourage the reading of the Bible by all people for themselves.
The Catholic Church compiled the New Testament you read.
I was at a papal audience. The people present loved him! He was like a rock star. On his ride in the Popemobile he made the driver deviate from the route, to the consternation of his security, so more, people could see him close up.
