- An Ultimate Cab Ride and an inside view of the senior diesel locomotive 3100HP Alco WDM3A loco cab ride in LHF [Long Hood Front] mood crushing at full throttle hitting the maximum permissible speed with awesome chugging and honking sounds. Also captured the full control view the Loco, Loco pilot start from 0 KMPH and pull all the 8 nothes to 115 KMPH skipping small unscheduled stations and passing throgh like king as other trains gave croosing to this loco engaged with Express service and also use the dynamic braking to slow down at the caution.

About WDM3A Locomotive:-

The class WDM-3A is Indian Railways' workhorse diesel-electric locomotive. Since 1993, it has been manufactured in India by the Diesel Locomotive Works (DLW), Varanasi. The model name stands for broad gauge (W), diesel (D), mixed traffic (M) engine. The WDM-3A is the most common diesel locomotive of Indian Railways. The WDM-3A is a later classification of earlier WDM-2C. These units have been retro-fitted with dual brakes, in addition to the air and vacuum brakes. The WDM-3A locos have a maximum speed of 120 km/h (75 mph). The gear ratio is 65:18.
The loco is now widely used across India for long distance passenger trains due to its ruggedness and high tractive loads and acceleration.

Pa Bidal, they are driving on an empty, dedicated track, not on a traffic filled road.
Trains always run on a fixed path. Unlike cars where the driver has to constantly steer left, right, take turns while also maintaining proper gaps with other vehicles to avoid accidents.

I agree that not providing toilets is a very poor design. But seats zyada comfortable de diye to so jaane ka bhi darr hai.

@@Zunn313 The electric drive motors in the bogies switch roles and act as generators creating a breaking force. The generated electrical power is dissipated by a resistor bank, usually located on the roof. The immense heat generated in the resistors is blown off by fans which you can her clearly.
The advantage is the energy is wasted by electrical heating. No mechanical friction occurs, and no wear on break pads and wheels

At 3:12 the engine just cuts off and then speed up again. Why does it happen and what it is? It happens mostly in alco WDM3 series only.
The train feels a sudden forward push when this cut off type things happens.
It happens even in WDM2 as well

Diesel engine max rpm 900. may run a lot of hours if the cabin inside has air circulation, in very warm countries open the engine doors.

Good catch. But I am unable to fully appreciate the constant braking and then accelerating. Waste of fuel in my humble opinion.
So the pilot should ignore speed limits or road signs slowing the train down due to slower traffic ahead? Or drive at pedestrian speed throughout and bust the time table?

I don't understand why they have to keep such a small window to see! Why can't they design locomotive in such a way so that the driver can have full view from the front? Imagine looking through such a window during rains or night time. In video I can see that during a turn, a driver can hardly know what is in the front.
New designs are having two cabins and full view wind shield on both sides. See WDP4D lOCO
