Thanks. You took me 30 yrs back. I was in my graduate yrs , last travelled in steam locomotive at jabalpore India in 1994. I remember how beautiful it was , since then its very sweet memory.
Just nothing can replace the sight, the sheer beauty of a steam engine in action! I have been one of the those lucky folks who personally had the privilege to travel in these trains runned by steam engines. Yes, the early 90's were the last years before steam engines got finally phased out and were replaced by diesel engines especially for metre gauge tracks. Thirty years is such a long time and things have changed like crazy in all this time... It's like the era of 90's was a different world altogether. Those were simple times. We used to enjoy and value small, small things in life... Which made our life meaningful. Today's kids can never understand that! Just a sight of a steam engine on a chilly winter morning brought goosebumps to people like me. I still can feel that emotion after watching this video... Where have we come in all these years?! 😭
Those where the last days of steam locomotives...Really enjoyed these black beasts & their chugging passing thru my dad's railway quarter.....thanks for taking back to those childhood memories....!
Nostalgia! I last travelled in a steam driven passenger train from Ludhiana to Jalandhar in 1989 or 1990. Seemed to take ages as she halted at every little station. From Jalandhar just barely managed to catch a ramshackle Punjab Roadways to Pathankot. (I shouldn't complain about the bus being ramshackle, though. It was late because of its sad mechanical state and thus I could catch it). In those days buses in Punjab weren't allowed to run after dark due to security reasons.

I enjoyed a lot....it took me to those days when I was just 10 yrs old and used to travel from Varanasi to Calcutta (now Kolkata) and remember those days Punjab mail (13006) coming to platform no. 5 hauled by a steam loco till Mughalsarai. Last it was 1982 and 1984. I saw steam locos till 1994 in West Bengal and right in Calcutta, but thereafter, abruptly these were withdrawn by Indian Railways and Diesel locos started rolling on tracks.

This is a real rarity. So beautifully filmed. I am so lucky to have lived those wonderful years. Literally we used to roam in the steam hauled trains, got down wherever we wanted, ate samosas, kachoris and jalebis in the road side stalls hugging the stations and then used to catch another train in the opposite direction. We used to travel frequently in Punjab Mail, North Bihar Express, Benaras Express which were hauled by steam locos, in the Asansol- Burdwan- Andal section with our student pass and sometimes without ticket 😅 We were 4 or 5 of us and we used to take the risks of travelling w/o ticket sometimes. All electrified. In Bengal from Bardhaman till Sahibgunj many trains were pulled by steam. From Howrah to Bardhaman steam had left in the late 70s. Japanese sumitomo electric used to haul even the Darjeeling mail to Bardhaman. Then steam and later diesel used to take over. In north Bengal many of the MG trains were hauled by TATA . I must admit the steam locos of Northern railways looked more well maintained than eastern.
These trains taught civilization to many countries.Today they simply have become the relics of the past.I travelled by these trains innumerable times. They disappeared in the last decade of the last century only to remain nostalgic.
Thanks for sharing this video...I was 15 years old then. I read the comments and looks like some people wants to go back in time, but trust me friends.. these were pretty difficult and hard days. My father was in Army and therefore I travelled all of Indian. I remember how unorganized and shitty these old times were. Roads were broken, not much of a transport was available, getting it touch with someone far was matter for months. I remember when we were travelling to Panchmarhi, we were on train till Itarsi.... Black thick smoke from these locomotives turned everyone's face black. I don't want to get back in those days... but yeah, this does reminds me of some good memories too.
In The Year Of 1994 As A 25 Year Old Indian Youth, Those Were The Golden Period / Years. Very Simple Life. Most Of Us Faced Many Difficulties In Our Day To Day Life But Still Happy, No Hatred At all Against One Another. I Used To keep On And On Travelling From New Delhi To Calcutta By Rajdhani Express In 1St AC & AC 2 Tier ( New Delhi Calcutta / Kolkata Rajdhani ) In Those Years All Routes Nearly 90% Eastern Sector Was Electrified / Electric Line All Thanks To Ghani Khan Choudhury Indian Railways Minister From Malda
Pure Gold 💝 Old Time Is Golden Time... That Time India Is So Much Beautiful... Punjab Is Pure that time... Now everything changed... In the name of Development lakhs of trees cut.. Locomotive changed to diesel & now electricity... When smartphone comes 4g, 5g services working... Man is now slave of smart Phone... Old golden period over.... Only memories left...
Wao ❤🇮🇳 Do u have any videos of Indian sugar mill railways there were many sugar mill in India where they have private steam loco system to transport sugarcane from nearby feilds to the mills.
Chanced upon your video. These were the sites & sounds of those days when steam locos used to haul people & parcels across India. Almost three decades later, some of these locos landed in museums & few were refurbished , but most were auctioned only to melt in furnaces. Some enterprising business owners converted them into boilers. But they had their own charm & their rhythmic chugging & whistling was music to ears. Alas, they are already an extinct, at least in India.
I grew up near Kishan ganj station in New Delhi, and i remember it used to have a steam engine shed. every now and then, rail shed workers used to shut main street to let steam engine pass through from shed to station. It was early 90s. Now that place is full of luxury condominiums.
For information of everyone All regular broad-gauge steam service in India ended in 1995, with the final run made from Jalandhar to Ferozpur on 6 December. The last meter-gauge and narrow-gauge steam locomotives in regular service were retired in 2000.
@@iandorneyphoto you are fond of reporting yesteryear's of Indian Railways. I appreciate your efforts but I felt that your reporting timeing, though you mentioned 1994, give misleading picture about indian railways though, Indian Railways have modernized their rolling stock and traction systems. This prompted me to add few lines about discontinuation of steam system. But Indian Railways runs one steam engine train as heritage train between Haryana and Rajasthan.

Unimaginable. Wonderful, Priceless, Beyond comparison. Present generation will not be able to feel the aroma of Steam Engine puffing out smoke in the morning.
Honestly shocking that a vast network which relied on steam just 2 decades ago is now %90+ electric and diesel used only in remote areas and steam for tourism purposes
in 30 years we went from coal fired railway locomotives to locomotives run by electricity run mostly by coal fired power plants.........ah the circle of life
This is honestly the coolest video ive seen. Its crazy to see streets not filled with bright ads and to see ACTUAL steam trains running on the rails. Thanks so much :)
Watching this video took me back to my school days, when, I would take a short cut passing through the Central Railway steam engine workshop at Mazagon adjacent to Hancock Bridge, as I lived bang opposite the railway lines and usec to spend a lot of time admiring those workmen overhauling the steam engines, at time in the 70's, security was lax and people would tresspass through the main gate and either go through the then semi forest type path to cross over to a Tadwadi BIT Blocks, where my Parochial School St. Anne's & St. Mary's was located. And, I loved walking on those tracks in the Marshalling Yard on my way and back from School. I recollect travelling by train hauled by Steam Engines to Delhi ( 1976 ) and to Madras from Bombay by Jayanthi Janatha Express ( 1979 ) in those marooned colored coaches in 2nd sleeper ordinary type bunk ( no cushion then ) Thanks, your clip took me back in time.

These trains taught civilization to many countries.Today they simply have become the relics of the past.I travelled by these trains innumerable times. They disappeared in the last decade of the last century only to remain nostalgic.
thks for watching
Thanks for uploading such a nostagic memory.
My pleasure
Thank you so much for this video…. I was quite overwhelmed as i am a resident of saharanpur district ❤️
My pleasure 😊
Thanks for sharing this video...I was 15 years old then. I read the comments and looks like some people wants to go back in time, but trust me friends.. these were pretty difficult and hard days. My father was in Army and therefore I travelled all of Indian. I remember how unorganized and shitty these old times were. Roads were broken, not much of a transport was available, getting it touch with someone far was matter for months. I remember when we were travelling to Panchmarhi, we were on train till Itarsi.... Black thick smoke from these locomotives turned everyone's face black. I don't want to get back in those days... but yeah, this does reminds me of some good memories too.
thks 4 watching it
They do have smoke problem that's why they are not used in majority
In The Year Of 1994
As A 25 Year Old Indian Youth, Those Were The Golden Period / Years.
Very Simple Life.
Most Of Us Faced Many Difficulties In Our Day To Day Life But Still Happy, No Hatred At all Against One Another.
I Used To keep On And On Travelling From New Delhi To Calcutta By Rajdhani Express In 1St AC & AC 2 Tier ( New Delhi Calcutta / Kolkata Rajdhani )
In Those Years All Routes Nearly 90% Eastern Sector Was Electrified / Electric Line
All Thanks To Ghani Khan Choudhury Indian Railways Minister From Malda

Chanced upon your video. These were the sites & sounds of those days when steam locos used to haul people & parcels across India. Almost three decades later, some of these locos landed in museums & few were refurbished , but most were auctioned only to melt in furnaces. Some enterprising business owners converted them into boilers. But they had their own charm & their rhythmic chugging & whistling was music to ears. Alas, they are already an extinct, at least in India.
as in rest of the world
I am from Firozpur. A nice vedio. Reminds me the days of that periods. Realy liked very much broter. Thans for loading such vedios.
Thanks a ton
I grew up near Kishan ganj station in New Delhi, and i remember it used to have a steam engine shed. every now and then, rail shed workers used to shut main street to let steam engine pass through from shed to station. It was early 90s. Now that place is full of luxury condominiums.
hope you enjoyed it

Golden era of Diesels, Electrics and Steam 😍❤
thanks
For information of everyone
All regular broad-gauge steam service in India ended in 1995, with the final run made from Jalandhar to Ferozpur on 6 December. The last meter-gauge and narrow-gauge steam locomotives in regular service were retired in 2000.
thanks glad u liked it
@@iandorneyphoto you are fond of reporting yesteryear's of Indian Railways.
@@iandorneyphoto During childhood I travelled in steam engine in himachal as our family friend used to run steam engine between Pathankot and Baijnath paprola.
And this is exactly the same vibes for our diesels now😢
thanks for watching
In North east and where I live currently we see Diesel loco

Honestly shocking that a vast network which relied on steam just 2 decades ago is now %90+ electric and diesel used only in remote areas and steam for tourism purposes

I recollect travelling by train hauled by Steam Engines to Delhi ( 1976 ) and to Madras from Bombay by Jayanthi Janatha Express ( 1979 ) in those marooned colored coaches in 2nd sleeper ordinary type bunk ( no cushion then ) Thanks, your clip took me back in time.
glad it brought back good memories
Just amazing, I could go back to my childhood in my place of birth - Saharanpur.
