Diana Ross's voice so pure. I am so happy that we can see these performances on UA-cam. The singing groups' contributed so much that we can still enjoy today. God bless them all.
David and Diana are like two MEGA POWERFUL FORCS collaborating. I could feel their energy combining. And the Ed Sullivan band was rocking it out, dude!
@@johnomalley7211 He certainly could! For Once In My Life...when he brought the house down on the TV special. A shame he didn't get more opportunities .
Look at their faces they still enjoy dancing together how often do you see two major groups at the height of the insane see me and melody of each of the song beautiful
Jobu Cats I believe someone wrote a biography saying that David was looking to outshine her on stage. Diane didn't get along with many of the performers from motown, including the other Supremes.
Fuck u & the horse u rode in on! But all is well, F. Y. I. David Ruffin is fucking dead & Diana Ross is alive & well, & performing @ sold out venues the world over.
@@New_Blue_2 And ur point is? Diana couldnt get along w/Diana, but through it all, she's on top & the rest of The Supremes, as well of the other stars on the Motown rosters, have disbanded & gone on w/the rest of their lives. Whatever she'd done, God will have the last word. NEXT!
@@johnomalley7211 ... Exactly!! Her voice is whiney and could possibly never out sing ruff especially on his own song!! Also before the show she called Barry and complained she couldn't sing in his key! Ha! Oh, but she's a singer..yeah right!!
Yes Justin, you missed it. This video features one of the greatest singers in all of the world as we know it, and that is DAVID RUFFIN. There will never ever be one like him.
Diane didn't have enough power or weight in her vocal range to handle an array of tunes written by Norman Whitfield. The latter chose Ruff, Marvin, Levi, Ronald (Isley), Stevie, Gladys (Horton) and Gladys (Knight) to meet those challenges, PERIOD!!!
I remember when this aired . . . it WAS something . . . it aired a few months before T.C.B. . . . so sad to see so many that are no longer with us . . . loved seeing Melvin with his arms around Cindy and Mary at the end . . . thank you very much for this post.
at rehearsal b4 the show, Berry Gordy arranged it so that Ross was always in front. I'm sure he was miffed at Sullivan's introduction of Diana Ross & The Supremes as "The Supremes"
they were great wasn't they, those days are long gone,as well as the great shows they perforned on, thanks for posting and taking us back to the good ol days of real performing.
The Supremes is one of my most favorite groups, and I love Diana Ross! I used to listen to their music over and over the period that I was in love, so their music is special for me. But damn! That man David Ruffin outclassed her 😭😖🤧 It is hard for me to say but he sang much better not only his own song but also performed Dianna's songs better. I read so many comments that Ruffin is the best ever singer on the planet, now I also gotta think so, cause this performance was just out of this world
I'll say it again, there was one GIANT talent on that stage that night and it was Diana Ross! That's why I watched it originally and I was not disappointed then either. It was a great show; the talk of my high school that Monday!!! Both groups were great, but Diana Ross, looking and sounding gorgeous, was the STAR!!!!!!!
great medley... wish the whole show was on here.. would love to see the other songs they performed... they're prob on youtube just on other postings.. wonderful wonderful!
This Great history Motown's leading groups combining their talents sharing each other's songs ,,, this was the 60's magic was being done, breaking down all sorts of walls. Thank you BERRY AND MOTOWN AND ALL IT' MUSICAL ACTS,THE SUPREMES, TEMPTS,4 TOPS, GLADYS & THE PIPS ,KIM WESTON, MARVIN GAYE TAMMI TERELL JR. WALKER ,MARTHA AND THE VANDELLAS, JACKSON FIVE,, many others
I agree, Donald Miller. What is sad is that so many negative folk look at this as a stand-off competition between Diana and David rather than just to enjoy it for what it is: a celebration.
Jobu Cats David was tryna out do her because she called Gordy (her lover) to change the key to I’m Losing You and she was outdone by one of the greatest
Thanks for running that clip from November 19 1967 made me stop look listen & Think how far both groups have come since their formations up to that point. Also during a time when both groups were in their prime having hits & everybody was still around
Somehow I stumbled on to this extended version. David was an awesome performer and even better with the Temptations. They were so precise in their movements. Absolutely loved his take on "Stop in the Name of Love". Today's performances are generally classless, talentless, and mostly uninteresting.
R&B was murdered by RAP! ganster to be exact! like Lavert sung! bring back the good ole days~great MUISC AND singing never made you wanna go out and kill somebody!LOL! man i miss this sound!
Diana ross is the best female singer to me an david ruffin is the best. To me but david has his own intro he did not need diana it only one david ruffin i got your back bro
Man this was some performance. Diana Ross sings "My Girl" ("My Guy") and "Get Ready" like heck, while David Ruffin nails the shit out of "Stop! In the Name of Love".
WOW !! ! THIS IS ENTERTAINMENT DIANA ROSS/SUPREMES THE TEMPS WAS THE BEST ,THIS IS EXCITING MADE ME GO BACK ,I REMEMBER WHEN THIS AIRED ALL THE KIDS IN SCHOOL(THE NEXT MORNING) WAS TALKING ABOUT HOW GOOD THIS PERFORMANCE WAS !! !
OMG David's high notes at the end are to die for! 😍😍 So talented.
The Original line up of the Temptations were the best
Diana Ross's voice so pure. I am so happy that we can see these performances on UA-cam. The singing groups' contributed so much that we can still enjoy today. God bless them all.
David slayed her (keys put in her favor and all)!
RememberTheTime09 yes he did dam. Great 😍
David and Diana are like two MEGA POWERFUL FORCS collaborating. I could feel their energy combining. And the Ed Sullivan band was rocking it out, dude!
Ruffin's voice is amazing.
Eddie singing Baby Love, sent chills down my spine!! He is my favorite Tempt. Rest In Peace Eddie!!
David should have recorded stop in the name of love.
He should have. It would have been an even bigger hit! Just those 20 seconds he's singing it should have been put on wax!!
Yes. Number 1A!!
a1992aron lol
eddie kendricks on that baby love track sound damn good! I've heard a live recording with tammi Terrell sampling "baby love" she sound great too
No singer can touch david omg. Thats just way too much power
David Ruffin was GANGSTA!!!
Now this is what you call epic.
You had to be out cho damn MIND to try and battle David Ruffin on stage at his own game. You know you had too much Hen!
One of the best musical numbers I saw in my hole life! Just exciting!
lol at Melvin going after the ladies at the end
WOW!!! I loved seeing them all together.
At 2:29, Diana took hold of that song with that fabulous smile and recited those song lines beautifully!!! Go Diana!
More proof that Ruffin or Kendricks in their prime could have sang the phone book and had a #1 hit with it.
Bassman968 don’t forget about Sir Paul Williams he can sing as well as both of them
@@johnomalley7211 He certainly could! For Once In My Life...when he brought the house down on the TV special. A shame he didn't get more opportunities .
Bassman968 he sang a lot of their early stuff from 61-63 if you really wanna hear him sing
Never saw this on TV 📺! But I hope to soon. It's wonderful!
Brilliant David Ruffin!
Mr Ruffin took me to church with his Stop in the Name of Love: such a handsome and ridiculously talented bloke
wow david singing stop in the name just fantastic what a voice, thank you.
Ruffin went James Brown on her ass 4:01 LOL
Don't leave out my Eddie!
David Ruffin put that last song to bed.
This is pure gold.
Years and years ago I saw this rendition. Made me want to be like Ruffin...the true star here
Look at their faces they still enjoy dancing together how often do you see two major groups at the height of the insane see me and melody of each of the song beautiful
Paul always got credit for being the best dancer of the 5 BUT in the clips I've seen Melvin could really groove too.
amensupremera that’s why those 2 were always in front🤣
shows the greatness of the Motown song writers, and universal appeal!Period!
Just another example of when music WAS music! Great clip. And Diana Ross, what can you say except ENTERTAINING to watch! And I want that wig! LOL
I'm 27 is it sad that this isn't seen on tv anymore or is it just me
This was a treat to watch soul heaven 😇 🎵
haha Diana Ross and the rest LOL ....what a diva!
Wow...beautiful...

Daniel Robinson really!!!! I think not
Indeed She can....
4:02 David Killed it..
+Jesse Lockhart HAHAHA, he got a little James Brown in him I said the same thing.
GarwinEugene Wayne bluemagic
Ross hung in there best she could give the Diva some credit
Totally awesome ! I agree its like his voice had "another gear"one of best voices ever no matter what kind of music you are talking about.
Diana Ross held her own with those Tempts songs and Eddie killed Baby Love.
David was great on Stop in the name of love and Diana was a surprise on My Girl. She did really good!
David and Eddie put that ass to sleep. Lol
