Dear Chris. This race is practically decided. The fact that a small country and its 2 representatives Pogačar and Roglič are at the top of all three major races is also a unique phenomenon in today's global world. Cheers to all the competitors and to you Chris for your overall contribution to the popularization of cycling.
Farewell to rider formerly known as the king of breakaway: Thomas De Gendt. None of his wins came easy but I enjoyed all of them ever since I saw him climbing through the snowbanks of Stelvio to what he was able to pull off in Naples 2 years ago.
Your summary/analysis of races this year has been fantastic. Really appreciate your knowledge & insights. Love the still shots and arrows. Much better than watching a 'highlights' replay. Also, no one explains sprints like you do. Thank you for your hard work. (You too, Garrett!!!)
The sprints are so fun to tear apart. They take a bit time when we get the crazy ones from the TdF for example because so much is happening in such a short amount of time but very interesting figuring out who did what to who and when. 😱🤔🦋👊👍
We've come to really enjoy the Vuelta. It's unlike the other 2. Crazy racing, anything could happen. Love it. Then we get to see Chris break down the madness. Awesome! Thanks Chris!
9th made the top 10 The Solerism did well helping Jay win the Dots. I think he went solo a little too early on the 5th(?) climb. The itt tomorrow MIGHT make changes in gc. Chris & Garrett, thank you for all the work.
Another great mtn stage. I'm bummed this is the last big stage race of the year. The world's in a couple of weeks. After tomorrow my legs finally get a 2 day rest after 21 days straight..Great analysis as always Chris.
Robbie McEwen has become the only commentator I really enjoy. His remark about parked cars on the mountain, (some really brave parking there too), was great. Sharp as a tack!
Along with Robbie, Adam Blythe is entertaining and not afraid to stick his neck out on some predictions. If Dan Lloyd was part of the rotation, I would GLADLY say _sayonara_ to that ponce Carlton Kirby & Rob _'Look! There's a squirrel'_ Hatch.
When you said Lipowitz blew at the start of the final climb yesterday, to me, it looked like a genius, purposeful, tactical move. He carefully moved up easily while Bora set tempo and slotted in between Roglic and Mas rather than ahead of his team leader. Then he let a tiny gap open up and then dropped out to the left, causing a sudden, unexpected larger gap. The others didn't have the strength to fight to jump across to the other Bora guys continuing to accelerate. Lipowitz finished in tenth only 1:23 behind Roglic (who beat his own 2020 record on the same climb by a minute). And today he finished in seventh. He wasn't blown at the start of yesterday's final climb. He surprised the top 5 guys with a sudden gap he created as his teammates were punching it. Am I wrong?
Have you ever seen that kind of thinking from Lipo yet? He was a knucklehead in Romandie and here in stage six when Ben was attacking and Lipo had his hand in the cookie jar during every attack made I. That break just about. And never hurried to take his hand out of his pockets. I will believe that yesterday happened on purpose when I see more of that from Lipo. At this moment I see it as Lipo started to far back. Went into the red to get to his teammates wheels and got lucky Carapaz moved up at the same time and then blew up at the same time. Pure luck is the way that I saw it. But I will not go so far as to say it wasn’t impossible that he planned and give him a 1% chance. 🤪😂🦋👊
Not the biggest Roglic fan, but I have to admit when he is good he is great. In reality he should have 5 of these titles and he proved it this time around. Riding with a team he doesn’t really know… and he’s still on top at 35. Very impressive.
If Soler had pulled the Vine group along the opponents of Vine would be getting a free ride. By "attacking" Soler is forcing the other breakaway companions of the Vine group to contribute. I think.
It looked to me that most if not all were working in that break. But either way there’s no one riders speed that can keep Ineos and QS at bay. Ok maybe Soler is hoping the peloton all sit up and then Jay cold have something extra in the legs left but Jay has yet to climb good all month and crashed yesterday. Difficult to say how much work Jay was having to do covering attacks from behind. Any time the pace changes a lot it hurts the legs. No one in the group seemed very interested in KOM points either. So I just don’t see a good tactic in Soler’s plan unless the group was much closer to the finish. 🤔🦋👍
WTF was UAE doing with the KOM. Lead changed. 4 or 5 times on that stage. Was awesome seeing Vine holding onto the bunch And getting his 2 points on the second last climb, to grab the KOM back. It was a race inside a race, inside a race. Best tour of the year. Thanks for the coverage.
Vine claimed afterward that Soler was working for him. But coming up to the penultimate climb, Soler and Vine were tied on points. Since Soler had won an HC climb (his victory at Lagos de Covadonga), he would take the polka dots unless Vine actually scored points. That's how you help a teammate? Anyway, Vine came over 4th and scored 2 points to break the tie.
we have become so used to Pogacars style of just attacking like crazy , that it seems Primoz isn't as dominant as he has been in this Vuelta , he has controlled things ( apart from allowing O' Conner to get 5 minutes on him early on, but were they worried about that really?) and raced intelligently to go into the final TT with a 2 minute lead without any real stress. At no point did it feel like he wasn't going to win the Vuelta.
Don't rule out there was some kind of agreement between Red Bull and A2GR DS like if you give us the jersey + some time for Ben to stand a chance for the final podium, we will do all the work(with pleasure) at the front, day by day .
Other than Dunbar, I was impressed with how BOC was able to remain in touch with his GC rivals so that he remained 2nd on the podium. All to play for in tomorrow's ITT.
Forget the illness factor....Can you imagine if Primoz makes a mistake and Roglicks(tm) into a barrier and then O'Connor does ok in his TT? cats and dogs.
Glad you’re there to tell us what’s going on. I was wondering about the KOM between Marc Soler and Jay Vine. I’ll bet Primos Roglic doesn’t have any roommates tonight, maybe a separate hotel?
When a rider like WVA abandons in week 3 whilst wearing the points and mountain jerseys, does it diminish the jerseys for the other riders who ultimately win them? I mean, points was more or less a lock while mountain would have been a stretch when WVA abandon. Just curious how professional riders regard a situation like this.
I wonder if there have been situations where someone who abandoned still had the most points at the end of the race..if that was the case, hasn't that person earned the jersey, even if they didn't finish the race...? Would be cool if they did it like this.
Truly I don't think they care.. (they will feel bad for the racer) it's part of racing and sometimes you just have bad luck and sometimes you benefit from it. 🤔
@sgazzz, I posed the same question/thought a while back but at least as goes for a clear answer, I believe the discussion during coverage immediately started to speaking to the new jersey holders... indicating abandoning a grand tour by default comes with loss of any of the main jerseys (still wondering about team jersey)
It seemed like Soler went solo because the rider with he and Vine was just trying to sit on and let them do all the pace. So when he went solo Vine didn’t have to do the pacing anymore
The group was working from what I saw. Ok hard to see if all ten were with the camera changes but the gap was 5min and most had time on the front before Soler went all out in every one. 🤔🦋👊

Primoz Roglic is not going to start the TT tomorrow. He is having bad stomach pains. It is unfortunate but, the race must go on. Congrats to Mas, Connor and Carapaz who will likely be on the podium.
was confused as all hell by soler's attack when he was off the front with a teammate and a satellite rider. he could have just hung with jay vine and the ag2r rider and jay vine would obviously work with him while the satellite rider would obviously work with the two of them since he doesn't care about kom points or the stage win. was a massive waste of energy but oh well, its the soler-ism i guess.

Mas doesn't deserve to have any fans
Certainly mas likes to always hold back. 🤔🦋
Why?? I don't understand
You have fantastic insights Chris. Please stop using your hands to talk so I can watch your production and not just listen to it
Who was sick???
Dani for sure. Vlasov and Gamper also. 🤔🤢🦋

I know people here a fan of Kuss and will tell me he had Covid but 17 minutes down for a defending champion ? Will be tough for people to argue he ‘’ deserved ‘’ it last year. Glad this year we don’t have to sit and watch another popularity contest
Clearly he is not in the shape of 2023 the whole season . Nationality does not matter a lot in cycling.
Take your bike and relax
@@roberthotter7008 wtf nationality has to do with what I said
Primoz apply 'phinising' touches 2-morrow.
Hope fully not sick. 🤒 🤞🦋👊
Luckily Primos didn't get Montezuma's Revenge. Team Eneos for a high $$$ team pretty much has had a dismal season. Good to see Ben O hang on to the podium. That's two 🍀 teammates for next seasons tactics.
Tadej is racing North America in Quebec along with a who's who in that race. If I still lived in New England idda driven up to watch that one. 👍🏼🚵🏼💯🇪🇦
👊🦋🤒🤞
It’s hard to understand how Primoz doesn’t perform better at the Tour de France 🤷🏾♂️
Bad luck 🤔🦋😱🍀
He was on to something before he crashed this year. His top level is not close to the two aliens. One Martian and one in another galaxy 😂
It IS close, in fact , but then hopeless :- D
Palestine flags everywhere. Nice!! Everyone holding par. What a great stage.
Primoz ⛷ Roglic turns the hot Spanish terrain into a snow covered ski course: I Came, I Snow, I Conquered!
