    So Remco not only had to get a last-second chain fix but also lost his power meter in the process. Yet, he still managed to pace himself to have enough time to celebrate before the finish. Amazing!
    So Chris, when you prepared the commentary, did you know about Remco's chain issue before commenting on Ganna's technique? That is, were you lucky, or did you deliberately set things up?

    • @ChrisHornerCycling
      @ChrisHornerCycling  6 годин тому +3

      I saw Ganna pedal backwards and remembered it the minute I saw the chain drop on Remco. I knew at that moment that the two stories together were going into the video. One of my favorite pieces that I put together was the Belgium Worlds in Leven 2021. There it was French rider Christophe LaPorte that flatted with about 180k to go. He was running full gas to get to the team car for his spare bike. I thought, Wow, he is really in a hurry to get to his spare bike and the racing hasn’t even started yet. Then Bam, the French started attacking before the next climb started at 178k. It’s all about the details in T🦋E. 🤪😀🦋👊👊👊🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋

    Chain catchers are treacherous! Great recap Chris, thanks for no spoilers unlike some who shall not be named.

    Yeah, I'm fascinated by your multi-layered detailed breakdown of these events; your excitement during the telling brings us into the drama of the racing-

      Happy to hear you are enjoying the videos. The TT’s are the hardest to get the stories all paired up together to make a good video because there are so many riders going at the same time on the course and I really enjoy making the video line up as closely to how you would have saw it live. But it always seems to come together nicely. 👊🦋👍

    All of the mechanical stuff for Remco happened BEFORE the start. Remco had a great TT from start to finish. Rode to perfection.

      Hehehe. Luckily the riders had two minute intervals between departures so the mechanics (not sure if there was just one mechanic and kind of two helpers, or two mechanics and one official that was a helper) had enough time to fix it. 😱😬🦋👊

    there was this moment when I saw the top 10 list and OMVC was there. I immediately paused the video and was about to write a comment. but then I decided to see first how it'd pan out. I had this laugh when you did mention OMVC! (nah..just sharing guys)..

    Yes, Remco is left handed. I watched his recent video where he was adding up calories he ate, and had the pen in his left hand.

    If a 110kg sprinter's coach/soigneur can give them enough of a boost to set their pedals on the track, I feel like an 85kg TT specialist's guy can do the same! Would be a lot less effort than finagling that chain methinks!

    I’m not sure Primoz knows for sure. Judging from last year’s Vuelta, if Primoz is going well towards the end of the road race I think he’ll attack Tadej just like he attacked Sepp Kuss.

      I tried to both but ran out of time. Had some family stuff at home that had to be done today also. I don’t understand why they would put both races on the same day. Why not one Saturday and the other on Sunday, then I could have fitted both in. 🥲🦋

    I believe that Remco's real source of the problem was a *Stiff Link.*
    You can see it start the problem almost immediately at the base of the chainring. It looks as an arrow pointing at 5 o'clock approximately. I can't see if it was at the quicklink.
    If I'm right, how can something so easy to prevent can happen in a pro sport especially to the number one contender in the world championship. I can't believe the level of amateurish incompetency of pro cycling. Here, I'm not talking about the mechanics themselves but rather about the management who doesn't have the clairvoyance to put enough ressources so that the mechanics can do their job with the proper attention to details. If they are always on the run, these things are going to keep happening.

      Something always gets missed sooner. When I was kid looking outside in to any pro level sports team it looked so well organized. Then I got into many different teams and realized it’s mostly smoking mirrors. 💨 🪞 🤪🦋👊😱😬🤔👊
