"The Last Shark" sounds like a sad documentary about sharks going extinct and how a group of sea biologist are trying to prevent it.
Not going to lie that sounds like it would be an amazing movie.
What is sad about this movie...both Franciscus and Morrow were not too long for this world....James died from lung cancer I think, and Morrow had his life literally cut short by that helicopter incident..I remember Franciscus played a doctor in some TV series for a few years...he was a handsome dude, but maybe smoked too much,,,after the TV stuff, he made at least one more cheapie horror thing, Valley of the Gwangi....and we know that Vic was in that Combat TV series....I am always fascinated by what happens to the legions of pretty good actors, who simply never make it to the top of their profession, despite having the looks and the acting chops.
"AAhhh the shark bit my pants off!!".
which if people keep relentlessly killing sharks for no reason, may end up happening sadly. #SAVESHARKS
Directed by Rian Johnson?
"See these shells? They can open up a tank."
*Proceeds to show .410 shotshells normally used to hunt rabbit and squirrel*
Those are Doomsday Rounds, son.
@@mariic2 Took 3 years to respond 😂😂😂
(Took me 3 months to respond to your comment) MH MH MH MH what!
A shark killing politicians? That thing is the HERO of this movie.
At least it didn't eat Morgan Freeman as Nelson Mandela
@@isaacsmith6878 It tried, but the sheer epicness that is Freeman's voice actually gave the shark puppet life just so it could devote said life to serving him
We could use one of those in Washington DC right now
Hell yeah brother
I always tell: sharks are the good guys
Props to Vic Marrow for doing his best Scrooge McDuck impression.
9:32 "Help! I'm being attacked by the Jaws ride at Universal Studios!"
Man that line never gets old.
Too bad said ride is closed now... :(
Yeah.
@@Scorpionspear77 why’d it close?
@@elliottmayer-yeager8087 because Marty Mcfly said that the shark still looks fake
I actually like that Shark prop
I'm guessing the lead being a novelist named Peter Benton is an homage to Jaws author Peter Benchley.
That's probably correct.
First thing I thought when I saw this.
Cute.
“Homage” is too generous a word for anything in this movie.
The "shark bazooka" scene was absolutely hilarious! That looked so ridiculous!
" Guessa. wot ? , We needa bigger boat !! ".
I love how the mannequin barely moved at all, didnt have enough in the budget to make a mannequin with joints, nah, lets use one of those things from the clothing store, and remember, we had nothing to do with Johnny if the cops come wandering about
lmao!
Actually, this movie wasn't banned in North America before its release. It actually obtained a theatrical release for about a month, before Universal filed their lawsuit. And believe it or not, the movie actually managed to pull in $18million USD during its N.A. theater run. Can you believe that? In just a single month, this movie actually managed to out gross Orca ($14million) and The Howling ($17million).
I remember seeing this at the movies when I was a kid. When the Shark tore the daughter's leg off it freaked me out!!! I remember he also roared like a lion.
Moundshroud Oh, you mean like the normal everyday *HOLLY FUCK THAT SHIT IS HUGE!* shark from Jaws 4? Oh wait... the shark's roar was from 1976 Kong's roars, which was a mix between Optimus Prime Vocals/Trex roars from the land unknown. It still roars, so I might as well just say it's like the Jaws 4 shark.
Vic Morrow was one of the biggest B Movie Stars of the 60's and 70's decades. Primarily cast as The Heavy which he was so convincing as, audiences found it hard to accept him playing anything other than the bad guy. He had a great run of about 5 years in the early 60's as Sgt Saunders who was the Squad Leader for K Company in the popular War Drama Series "Combat!"on ABC and one of that network's first big hits. He worked a lot after that series was cancelled, but never hit the big time again. When he did finally manage to obtain the Lead in a feature film again in "Twilight Zone: The Movie", we all know what happened there. Franciscus' career was similar to Morrow's as he had a hit television show "Mr. Novak" and "Longstreet" as well as the Lead in "Beneath The Planet Of The Apes" perhaps the best entry in the franchise, and after that ended up in made for TV and B theatrical (mainly Drive In, like Morrow) releases. Their films made a lot of money abroad and always saw profit in the States.
Review of The Howling?
@@gangstergoji2k5isgod Akshually (snort snort) the roar used in Jaws The Revenge is from The Deadly Mantis, which went on to be used for many things like Spot the dragon in The Munsters, Jerry's angry bellow in the tom & Jerry short "The Milky Waif", and was also in both Duel and Jaws, both times when the menace was dying/dead.
The big mechanical shark head isn't half-bad. It's the way that it's used that completely ruins the believability. Seriously, these film-makers didn't know how to do proper editing with their productions.
The Pterodactyl Disco will always fit with everything. It's like Guile's theme.
"Look out, it's got a taste for wood!" Oh God, the innuendo is off the charts!
Monty Python scene as man on the helicopter is bit in half.
That toy helicopter is beyond epic.
Chances are that you heard this before but the reason Spielberg did not use the shark unless he absolutely had to was that the model did not work for large parts of the shoot. So he had to make it suspenseful in stead.
+RunicCross Yes its the ultimate lucky accident.
The score was a big reason it worked so well.
"We just waited and waited and waited... Wherever you were around the island, you could hear, '*static* The shark is not working *static* repeat the shark is not working *static*'" - Roy Scheider and Richard Dreyfuss.
I've learned that if you're holding onto something and someone pulls at your legs, your legs will tear off long before you lose your grip. In fact, I'm shocked your legs don't just pop off if you shake them.
R.I.P Vic Morrow
he is the last! Their are no more! He is the last Sharkosaur!
Zigra The Warlord so am I.
Their...?
But is the shark named Maston Thrust?
With that title, you'd think it'd be about how and why Great White sharks are nearly extinct.
Ahh I get it
Jaws (2025)
Starring:
James Franco: Chief Brody
Kristen Wiig: Ellen Brody
Danny McBride: Quint
Paul Rudd: Matt Hooper
and Melissa McCarthy as the Great White
Inevitably coming soon to a theater near you.
Word Unheard .. read this & I died laughing..huhu
Jaws 2 (2028) - Franco & Wiig will reprise their role. Who should be cast as 1) The water skier? 2) The lady driving the boat? 3) JACKIE? 4) The great white?
Word Unheard Sounds like you want a comedy? Danny McBride as Quint would be funny but I know he dies at the end munched by Jaws.
I’d watch the fuck out of that movie
It's so awful it's inevitable.
Brandon, you haven't chaged at all since 2014.
2019, thankfully still no Jaws re-make
Just wait...
2021 is my bet
Never Ending Story, Scarface, Weird Science, and Police Academy are all in the works right now. Sooner or later, Jaws will be remade.
@@JMDarkly1 why do i have the feeling weird science will be gender swapped reboot?
@@tomtom7955 I really hope not. It will feel really icky if they do.
That dummy getting catapulted out of the boat ( 9:20, 10:05, 10:27 and 10:50 ) is hilarious! And to make it even better, Brandon repeats the sequence numerous times!
The Pterosaur Disco will never get old.
Now that I've just seen the 40th anniversary of Jaws in the theater and Orca on cable, a fresh perspective made this review even funnier the second time around. Bravo.
I think this might be the best episode. The combination of the actual film and Brandon's humor being en pointe- brilliant stuff!
I'm still waiting for the day to come back to the video and in grim recognition say "BRANDON WAS RIIIIIIIIIGHT."
Thank you for showing these films the attention they deserve.
The last part of this review scared the living hell out of me!
I was never so scared by something I totally agree with.
Vic Morrow. That's a tragic tale if I ever heard one.
I had the impression THAT 3:24 9:20 was caused by the IMPACT of the hurling shark striking the boats - more like a TORPEDO than dynamite or a bazooka.
Cole Slaw I can't stop replaying the part at 9:20 because it's so damn ridiculous and funny as the guy is still standing straight as his boat is sent flying in the air and as it comes down. Imagine if the Meg did something like this except it would be even more funny if the Meg hit a cruise ship and the result would be same as in this movie.
It's been four years and we now got "The Meg." Close enough.
This is probably my favorite cult movie review
April 2018. So far no Jaws remake thankfully.
9:30 " All I wanted was sharks with laser beams attracted to their foreheads.
but apparently that isn't possible. So what do we have? "
" A single shark with a grenade launcher on it's forehead."
" Okay? "
Can this be an evolution of sharpedo?
6:23 the most funniest line
Oct 2016. So far no Jaws remake thankfully.
Brooke Brewer wait does shallow count ?
The closest to us getting a Jaws remake is 47 Meters Down
Haven't seen it.
it getting released soon this Friday
One title : the revenge
And this people, is what happens when Micheal Bay should never direct a Jaws film
This is by far my favorite channel on UA-cam. EXCELLENT work! EVERY time!
September 2017, still no remake in sight. Our noble vigil continues.
13:58 , why is the helicopter pilot looking at the cameras direction and giving a face. Lol. It’s also funny how he was looking for the camera. Lol
9:20 Does the shark throw dynamite like a videogame villain? XD
In Jaws Unleashed for PS2, where you play as the shark, a number of mission revolve around you throwing barrels or dropped explosives at stuff.
I had the impression THAT was SUPPOSSED to be caused by the IMPACT of the hurling shark striking the boat - more similar to a TORPEDO.
RIP Vic Marrow your lovely mustache and Scottish/Italian accent will be missed! Vic sadly died just a year after this movie's release in an accident along with 2 kids while filming a stunt for "Twilight Zone".
I would recommend people to read up on that accident and all the laws and rules that were broken by director John Landis and others that led to Morrow and two children being put into a dangerous stunt that should never have been done. Spielberg never wanted anything more to do with Landis after it and ended their friendship. Landis's main takeaway from it is that it ruined his career.
@@melvert33 I read all about it years ago. He used children that were illegal aliens because then he could force them to work insane hours and do dangerous stunts. It ended his friendship with Spielberg but he made tons of huge hit movies afterwards.
1. Direct MJ "Thriller video"
2. Spies Like Us made 3x it's budget
3. Three Amigos
4. Coming to America
He made dozens of other movies that were flops but 4 successful hits AFTER Twilight Zone is anything but a career killer.
@Wallyworld30 yeah I meant that was what Landis thought about it all, this was a quote from him in 1996 about the accident "the tragedy, which I think about every day, had an enormous impact on my career, from which I may possibly never recover" to me that is a completely callous way to talk about the deaths of people he bore some responsibility for.
I know this is a 5 year old review, but I am glad I found this and on Shark week nontheless😎 great job on the review
15:45
Wow. That shark LITTERALLY ate his ass.
Speaking of cocaine song in the last killer shark movie. The cocaine bear movie of 2023 is a very recommend movie you should watch. In loving the memories of the good fellow's very famous American - Italian actor Ray Liotta. His very last movie he would play in. Who passed away just recently, we miss you Ray Liotta.
At the rate sharks are dying off, there probably will The Last Shark out there
Brandon you are by far the funniest movie reviewer around. Ever since I discovered your channel I have been watching several of your videos daily. I will do my best to sponsor your channel next month. Take care and keep up the amazing. Work.
Thank Jeebus you're back. Thought it was the case of another great youtuber taken down by greed :(
Review Orca please
Bradley Coates
orca was more lenient.
saw this one as a kid too, and the last scene scare the shot out of me!
Orca has an amazing soundtrack!
👍👍ORCA is one of my childhood favourite movies.
I love Orca but to scary
2021 and I'm still waiting.
He wasn't asking for the entire finished commercial in half an hour. He wanted to see the "shooting schedule", which is a much more reasonable request.
Hey Brandon. Nice review. This one was particularly nostalgic for me, because I remember watching it on TV as a kid.
So, yes, it was aired on TV in North America in the 80s. It was on a French Canadian channel (yep, I'm from Quebec.)
Now, technically, they lifted the helicopter bit from "Jaws 2"
Including the Shark bit the helicopter into the water with it?
9:21 Am I the only one who noticed this guy is waving a Confederate Flag?
This was filmed in Georgia, where unfortunately that's still a thing.
stars and bars forever, you snowflakes.
I noticed and why just why?
Seriously, that flag issue should've jumped the shark by now. All it demonstrates is how myopic, idiotic and desperate self loathing American liberals have become. Remember, the US is still the country that has Native American Indian Reservations. A specific group of minority ppl corralled and penned up so u can enjoy your so-called land if the free at their expense. And you morons make an issue out of a damn flag??
The Italians really don't know what that represents, they're guessing it's just another funny America flag we wave a parties.
That ending gave me chills
"He leaves no blood" So the shark is a swallower? LOL
3:54-4:09
I think the reason Peter Benton is
a novelist was due to it being a
"tribute" to Peter Benchley, the author
of the *"JAWS"* novel (who also
co-wrote the script for the 1975 film
alongside actor Carl Gottlieb -
who played "Harry Meadows" in the
film - and had a cameo in the Amity
Town Beach scene as Alan Cray aka
"The Interviewer").
Awesome.
The last shark??? You mean all sharks are ready to become extinct???
The year is 2021. The world has gone to shit, but at least there's still no Jaws remake.
Crazy knowing I’ve been watching your videos for 9 years love you great to see you grow over the years 🎉🎉🎉
I'm going to binge watch every single video you ever made.
I remember seeing the ad for this in the newspaper and loving the pic. I'm also old enough to remember seeing the ad for this in the newspaper and loving the pic
I saw that raft vignette from Creepshow 2 when I was 8 or 9. It still haunts me.
Oh crap the one that ate the people and then like somehow LUNGED out of the water for the last one? .. wasn't it in the same set as the 'chief'? . Gotta agree though. I was a little older and they still creeped the hell out of me haha. In my defense though i was also terrified of Chucky back then too.
How could MST3K _not_ have used this film??...
Rifftrax did!
I’m italian and now we’re making so many shitty movies that a ripoff could actually be good
Another excellent and thoroughly entertaining review.
The shark animatronic looks like he's got some chub, which he does, chubby shark
Yeah, that character's supposed to be Scottish, but being a Scot myself, I can tell you that the accent is pure shite.
“Look at this, and tell me a grenade did this!” - ok, only if you look at this and tell me a shark did this. Lol😂😂😂
" Dude we were recording a video for UA-cam and he just exploded. "
Orca was awesome plz do a revew
You are THE BEST at what you’re doing. Keep up the good work.
This is best review yet! Haven’t laughed that hard in a long time.
I think James Franciscus character is supposed to be a homage to the author of Jaws ;-)
The idea of a Jaws remake makes me shudder.
Great review Brandon
I just find your Channel and OMG i Love it!!! :D
89K subscribers. Was 88K a day or 2 ago. Hope you get to 100.000 soon. Your videos are really good. Keep it up.
Review Ghost Shark. Right up your alley on movie reviews.
I actually saw this film during its like two-week release in America. It was under the title "Great White" and a lot of the gore was edited out for the PG rating. I was pretty surprised to see the unedited version many years later and how bloody it actually was.
That wind surfer explosion actually could have been the shark. If the shark broke the surface with enough force, striking the board, but just not enough to launch itself from the water, you can easily get a splash like that.
Well, you've actually sold me into watching this movie!
Apparently this movie also had posters blatantly showing the word "JAWS".
But the only release I know of it from RiffTrax. Which is always a good watch.
Ok, is it just me, or does the shark’s head not look too bad? Honestly, with all the trouble Spielberg had with his shark, it’s pretty crazy how decent this one came out.
10:47 thinking of that one video where shows 2 news reporters looking at footage of shark jumping out of the water and they're both speechless.
I watched Jaws very recently despite having it on VHS since at latest 2009. Since it was a videotape, I watched it in two halves a year apart.
Recently found this movie & gave it a watch. Actually not bad for a knock-off/cash-in compared to some other knock-offs like Barracuda which I also recently saw
Watched every review newest to oldest and the binge has now come to an end :(
I actually saw this movie in the theater when I was ten. I remember when it came out. There was a moderate amount of hype behind it. The theater was full. None of my friends were impressed with it. The best thing we could say about it was "well at least they used some real shots of sharks in it"......
The shark having dynomyte jokes really got me rollin
9:19 the captain of the boat stands tall and proud in all situations!)
I fucking love you Brandon you're fucking hilarious you make me wanna watch the shitty movies that make you cringe.
I was really liking this channel i just stumbled on and binging videos till you put that horrible thought in my head at the end lol
saw this movie when I was a kid, on TV, just be around 1981/82.
I live in Quebec. funny because even at this age, I realized that it was "kinda like jaws"...😃
that wile e coyote reference earned you a fan for life goodsir
I've seen the Rifftrax version of this, it was hilarious
Luv the AMC product placement. That CJ7 was probably half rusted before they finished shooting.
At 9:30, did anyone notice that the dude on the boat was as stiff as a board when the water exploded?
Either he was stiff with fright, he had instant rigor mortis or he glitched up and his character model was stuck in the Default pose.
I am 49 nowadays and growing up actually watching this on a UHF channel , as GREAT WHITE many years when it came out on TV for Abit on Channel 68 W!TV I Think it mighta been at the time , but only like once i Remember seeing it only then and Leonard Nimoy I found out DID or Insisted on being uncredited for Narration I believe in the very beginning of this movie. Can't remember If he had it take off the movie too though or they kept it in eventually at all.
The last shark... brought to you by ACME...
AMC/Jeep must have paid for product placement, cuz man--that's all you see on the beach scenes.
