You are right, Cambodian cuisine is a forgotten or ignored food. Reason was Cambodia. Ding a closed communist country especially Pol Pot regime was so cruel that people were other countries stayed away just like North Korea. But now Cambodia is opening up and this is good chance for persons like you to introduce their culture, food, places and people to the world.

Japanese, Thai, Korean, Vietnamese, Indian, Cantonese, Hunan, Sichuan...all cuisines that seem to pop up most frequently. I'm making it a point to go to a Cambodian resto during this series. We never been to Cambodia and actually never eat Cambodian food too, so this food tour is really new for us & learnt a lot. The traditional market reminds me of Indonesia so much 😀

That's likely because before the Khmer Empire arose. Most of Cambodia was always trading with the Javanese kingdom all the time. This shared architecture knowledge and influences from both countries. A common dish you find traditional to both Cambodia and Indonesia is roasted fish wrapped in a banana leaf. Sorry for the unnecessary history lesson.

This is probably the first travel food video that truly highlights quintessential Cambodian foods that I grew up with and absolutely love. I wish I had more time to learn how to make some of these dishes from my grandmother but they can take hours to prepare! Thank you for a great video

I moved to the USA since 2015 and I miss going to noodle soup restaurant. Everyday I would wake up and my family would go straight to the restaurant before going to school. Also I never get tired of eating street food in Phnom Penh 🥰🥰

I had a question though about the street food - I am fascinated by them and believe the best can be found on the streets rather than fancy restaurants, however not sure how hygienic they would be since many are sold from open bowls and such. Do you take any particular precautions before eating them or take it all in stride? Thank you and have a lovely day!
Thanks so much for watching our Cambodia series. We had an absolute ball filming these videos and can’t wait to return when possible. We never really get sick from street food. Our main tip would be always eat at the popular places where the locals are eating. Everything we film (and eat when not filming) are the top places that are always busy and have lots of turnover. That's likely because before the Khmer Empire arose. Most of Cambodia was always trading with the Javanese kingdom all the time. This shared architecture knowledge and influences from both countries.
A common dish you find traditional to both Cambodia and Indonesia is roasted fish wrapped in a banana leaf.

This is probably the first travel food video that truly highlights quintessential Cambodian foods that I grew up with and absolutely love. I wish I had more time to learn how to make some of these dishes from my grandmother but they can take hours to prepare! Thank you for a great video

Sadly, there are not many Cambodian restaurants where i live in LA so, which is one of the food capitals of the nation. I search for it to shoot some great videos, and hopefully i can find some good ones soon.

I had a question though about the street food - I am fascinated by them and believe the best can be found on the streets rather than fancy restaurants, however not sure how hygienic they would be since many are sold from open bowls and such.
Do you take any particular precautions before eating them or take it all in stride?

Thanks so much for watching our Cambodia series. We had an absolute ball filming these videos and can’t wait to return when possible. We never really get sick from street food. Our main tip would be always eat at the popular places where the locals are eating. Everything we film (and eat when not filming) are the top places that are always busy and have lots of turnover.
