It was confirmed he had vitiligo in his autopsy. Depending on how extensive it was, it could have been more feasible to bleach the rest rather than wear makeup all over every day, which would be tiring and impractical depending on the areas affected. My mom has vitiligo over different areas but just goes about her life with as she is, and is still beautiful. Imagine being Michael Jackson who already had some complexes, and getting vitiligo. Being under that scrutiny constantly is A LOT of pressure I would think.
@@thetgrenadegranada1570 it’s clear he bleached his skin. To match the vitiligo. And he was bald from the burns from the Pepsi commercial incident. That would explain his hair situation. Not sure why that’s funny.
According to Karen Fay (Michaels make-up artist) they first covered the white spots with black make-up, but the vitiligo got so severe that they had to start covering what was leftover from his black skin with white make-up
Well that is what happens when you use "19 tubes of hydroquinone and 18 tubes of benoquin". The skin is not going to absorb all of that bleach evenly. Bleaching cream was not meant for that. Michael's vitiligo condition was very similar to Terrence J'. Bleaching cream is meant to even out one's skin tone not erase it. Hence why dermatologists only prescribe 1 tube at a time and never hydroquinone and benoquin at the same time!
I’m convinced people just like belittling Michael just because. If that question was really a concern, then they could’ve easily found the answer. I just wish people would listen as much as they talk
Michael was smart for never addressing questions like this. He has you talking about him years after he’s gone. And that’s what will keep him relevant for decades and keep producing him money.
@@Kore-Lay dude, were you even around during that time? He always supported black people. He even mentioned in his Ebony interview from late 80's that he was black! He gave money to Negro College Fund and other black programs. He was on Soul Train Awards when being black was the best time! You talking from a biased point of view. We didn't know him personally, but from what we've all seen at the time and even now on UA-cam, I'm quite sure he was proud to be black and loved his people. Black people themselves didn't want to claim him because of his surgeries and vitiligo because they judged him. The dude just didn't want to look like his dad. As for the kids, he even said in an interview in the 80's that he wanted to adopt kids. He was teased by his own father and that messed him up, so he probably didn't want his own child because it would probably had looked like Joseph himself
@@Kore-Lay I do agree he brought some things on himself. But in regards to his skin change, from what I heard, he felt it was no one's business and chose to keep it private. I do feel that if he was ashamed, he wouldn't have continued making music. At the time, that was everyone's assumptions when he didn't deny or confirm those stories. So they were wrong too! He's an artist and I'm sure he wanted to keep people guessing. But he was living his private life and took plenty of trips to Africa and wrote Liberian Girl (which no one made songs like that at the time talking about dark skinned women), and he even said he liked more so dark skinned Indian women. And to be honest, Lisa Marie was fine as hell back then, so I don't blame him for marrying her 👀
I'm happy that most comments are correcting misconceptions about Michael's vitiligo. If someone has vitiligo and it's widespread across the body, they can go through a process known as medical depigmentation using products like Benoquin. Medical depigmentation is not the same as skin bleaching. It's a valid way of responding to the skin condition.
I think most people, including you, are not well informed about vitiligo so you would rather by "happy" in being uninformed than being informed. Scientifically, what MJ had was very likely chemically-induced vitiligo and not hereditary vitiligo. He was making rapid and drastic changes to his appearance in the 1980s through plastic surgery, weaves, makeup, and bleaching creams. By 1980 Michael was too old to have been getting natural vitiligo patches. Vitiligo patches occurs in people aged 10 to 25. He was in his 30s in the 1980s. Latoya snitched on MJ's overuse of prescription bleaching creams he got in the mail in someone else's name when she went on the Heraldo show. Quincy Jones later snitched on MJ's overuse of chemical peels. Then there is the unsaid. The FACT that MJ was getting rapid and extensive plastic surgery every year at that time makes it very reasonable to assume he bleached by choice verses necessity. He was not trying to "smooth and even out his skin tone" as he told Oprah but rather he was going for a totally different look that was only achievable through plastic surgery and skin bleaching. When he died, "During their search, detectives found 19 tubes of hydroquinone AND 18 tubes of Benoquin." That is clearly overuse!
@@cjking4511 Benoquin is used in response to vitiligo so you pointing out that Michael had some in his home does little to help your point. You say that Michael was too old to be getting vitiligo patches circa 1980, but in 1980 MJ would have been 22 which is within your 10-25 age range. He didn't turn 30 until 1988 so he spent the majority of the 80s living out his twenties. Please double check your math. Moreover, in Katherine Jackson's book she says that they were noticing very small patches on Michael's body as a teen. La Toya's statements from the early-mid 90s were mostly lies as she has admitted to. The autopsy confirms his vitiligo and says nothing about it being chemically-induced from what I remember.

@@Dzzy123 I am disengaging from conversing with you. Reading comprehension is NOT your strong suit. If I quote a police report that says police found "large quantities of tubes of Benoquin AND hydroquinone" you comprehend that to mean only benoquin was found. If I say Michael Jackson was too old in the late 1980s and 90s (the era when his skin color drastically changed) you comprehend that to mean I am referring only to the year 1980. There is nothing wrong with my math. I said what I said and I meant what I said. The issue is your comprehension skills. Michael Jackson was NOT diagnosed with vitiligo until 1986. That is a FACT! Now it is also a FACT that MJ was using bleaching creams and getting chemical peels all through the late 1970s and the 1980s. Thus, the bleaching was FIRST. And the vitiligo came later. Thus, he likely had chemically induced vitiligo NOT hereditary! Some of his fans have posted photoshopped photos of MJ with vitiligo online but most are fake and the real pics are available online as well without the photoshopped perfectly aligned vitiligo patches they put on the pic.

Luenell, I know for a fact he used dark brown make up for a long time. I saw a picture in life magazine 1984 of him during the victory tour, there is a shot of him looking into a mirror and on the make up table there is a jar of dark brown make up and I guessed he was using that to cover himself cause I had a friend who was dealing with the same thing. You can find pictures of him with discolored skin and brown make up on his clothes from just after off the wall album which was 1979.
Since they know so much, I hope Vlad and Luenell can explain how the oldest boy Prince also has vitiligo which is very often hereditary. What are the Vegas odds that MJ would adopt a white child at birth, with no clue whatsoever that the child would also develop one of the same exact autoimmune diseases that his adopted black father had, that's insane but I'm sure Vlad has all of the answers.
I think MJ used surrogate mother and IVF. Some argue that his former dermatologist, Arnold Klein is the father. He does have a resemblance to the kids from pics that I've seen.

@Clinton Stewart "You believe everything the media tells you" who do you think you are talking too especially since you don't know anything about me or what I believe! If you were really interested you could have taken a moment to google Michael Jackson's vitiligo and you will clearly see a loss in his pigmentation and this is before photoshop or editing. Common sense is the vitiligo and whiter skin began to takeover his darker pigment so it was just common sense to match the lighter skin once it became more prevalent, in fact the reason why you can see his vitiligo in those free pics on google is because in the beginning he was using makeup to match his darker skin but when he would sweat during performances the lighter skin would show through. You also might not know that he was taunted by his father for his looks especially his nose so perhaps he developed body dysmorphia but he certainly wasn't the only one in his family to alter their looks either. He didn't have to show shit to anybody to prove anything because regardless of what he said there would always be idiots who wouldn't have believed him anyway just like there are still idiots who don't even believe his autopsy report which clearly confirmed that he had vitiligo. You claiming that you don't have anything to hide doesn't have anything to do with this matter.
God this is stupid. Permanent bleach or spend 3 hours every day “painting” you’re body brown.. I swear people are dumb. I knew a girl that had a white eye, like a Dalmatian but opposite. To cover it took over an hr. You don’t simply cover it, it’s like a 5 step process. I don’t know the names, maybe a female can help, but 1st you “primer” the whole face, like 3x and it has to dry between each layer. Then you layer on the dark make up. But u just can’t stop. Basically you make the whole face white then paint it. And it still looks funny
Thank you for the common sense. After years of fighting that condition, nobody wants to be looking like a burn victim when they wake up in the morning and walking around squishing and smearing makeup everywhere in a kind of permanent deception act. His skin wound up a high percentage ghostly white so he got the color as smoothed out as possible by treatments that were long lasting and didn't need several daily touch-ups
@@etherspinMike wasn't really ghostly white though, he had a pretty caucasian red-white mix during This Is It (where he had pretty minimal makeup). Not saying your comment isn't absolutely correct by the way, just a bad descriptor.
Shouldn't be a surprise, but Luenell isn't very smart. Make-up wouldn't help because the vitiligo spots continue to form over the body, so MJ had to lighten his skin.
Because that shit would just simply be ugly. Who the hell finna put make up on everyday? As much as he be on stage sweating, that shit just gon look bad in photos. Might as well even ya skin out and wear the right tone
But he did though. It’s just that the more it spread, the lighter the makeup had to be since it would be a hassle to put brown all over his body every single day. Easier to just cover up the left over blotches with white
the question is Why doesn't she use a plastic surgeon to fix that neck?! Judging and pointing fingers at others is very easy, even more so when they are dead.
For those without knowledge of Vitiligo. You can't just go out and buy makeup to cover up Vitiligo. It can very in skin pattens. Those with Vitiligo go through a lot mentally and be kind and be thankful you don’t have to go though life with the skin disorder.
He did, he hid stuff and used makeup but on his chest etc he was coming out ghostly white. It's part of the function of the gloves, making him stay apparently black as long as possible Once it was too far gone and looked like train wreck beneath his clothes he didn't have the same options cause makeup is a coating that smears on everything and rubs off. The lightening is mostly permanent and can achieve consistent skin tone so you look like some type of person instead of some type of burn victim, which he also was BTW via his Pepsi commercial accident
Because in vertiligo his skin is whitening/lightening. That is what is spreading all over. so it makes sense to go in the direction that it is going. At least at some point when it has spread significantly.
Mike did try to the body makeup for years but it got to intense as the vitiligo spreads, I think it’s one of those things you wouldn’t understand unless you went through it, easy to say on the outside looking in.
some people are extremely insecure about their vitiligo. i don't think he washed his black away because of skin bleaching. there's some things people just have insecurity about, and we handle it in different ways. whether it was the right choice or not, i don't agree with Luenell's line of thinking here. his mindset wasn't in the mind of abandoning his race, rather somewhere else entirely.
I don’t think it’s fair to say why didn’t he wear makeup .... like the mans original skin color was basically gone so why would he put makeup on his entire body everyday when he can bleach his skin and be done
Because he was going from black to white. Imagine losing all your pigments and having to put makeup on the whole face and body to have darker skin, seems impractical.
The topic is ignorant.. let that man rest… his autopsy clearly showed he had vitiligo… in the old pics when he’s dark skin you can tell by the blotches on his hands
Michael Jackson reached further than any Black entertainer for crossover success. The shrewd audacity of wanting to be King meant taking his competition's assets and making them his, this meant the literal whiteness of a Elvis Presley or Beatles (as well as marrying the daughter and buying the masters of said competition).Vitiligo aside, I am convinced that skin bleaching was the ultimate promotional asset no other black entertainer had possessed, and he felt he needed it to reign as King of Pop.
Oh come on people, I know Karen Faye Michael's make up artist, she did cover Michael's white patches, but then they spread & became the most prominent color of skin, so if she Blacked Michael's full body how is that make up gonna stay on with him dancing & sweating like he did, stop speculating & pointing the finger, Michael did have vitiligo, I saw it with my own eyes!
The family just want the kids to have a normal life. What if the kids didn’t know or even consider being adopted, but now due to the constant speculation from the media they now have to think about what if their father wasn’t their blood? The greatest tragedy of MJ’s death is that not even his kids or his future generations will ever escape the media frenzy surrounding his name.
What are you talking about his kids turned out perfectly fine. They’re not bad kids they all sit around getting in all types of legal trouble or anything like that
As Michael got lighter he put on lighter make up to match his skin tone it’s as simple as that to me but with visible pictures you can still see he had black spots on his skin even heard after going completely white
If I had to guess, it was because eventually, as his vitiligo progressed, his skin went from mostly black with white blotches to mostly white with black blotches. It was probably easier to just bleach the dark patches.
Yes. It's kind of insane to compare having to constantly touch up huge areas of makeup with being able to get treatments that make your skin tone even for months if not years
@Clinton Stewart If he was the biggest entertainer as a black man, wouldn't it undermine his credibility becoming white? He was way too sensible to screw that up.
Ignorant. His autopsy shows he had both vitiligo and lupus and yes he did use brown makeup initially. You can’t paint your entire body if it spreads so much you have more white than brown
I hate how people are talking about these scandals up to this day and age while Michael Jackson isn't even alive to defend himself. This just makes me feel that they're trying to use Michael Jackson's fame for the good of themselves.
lunell obviously doesn’t know what she’s taking about he did use brown makeup until it got worse theres images of the makeup sweating off during performances
Let’s not judge. He did (like all people with vitiligo) made choices that were best for him. Unless you lived with him 24/7 how do you know he did or didn’t try makeup or try to stay brown or use makeup. He did what he needed to do for himself. That’s like saying why didn’t a person with UNIVERSAL vitiligo use makeup instead of depigmenting or the other way around. Who cares what people think about the choices you have to make for your body. They aren’t taking care of you…paying your bills etc. How do you know if you’d make a different decision or the same decision if you have this disorder. Heck people would’ve had an opinion either way.
Not only did his autopsy report confirm that he had vitiligo, but also pictures online confirm that. More of his skin became depigmented so he stopped using brown makeup and began using white makeup. When vitiligo covers the majority of your body you can get surgery to remove and bleach the remaining color.
Bleaching the skin, making the nose pointier, straightening the hair or wearing straight-hair wigs - all of those things go together as forms of Whitening aesthetics / anti-Black aesthetics. Michael stated that his father made him feel ugly by talking about his large nose, and apparently their father wouldn't let their daughters marry Black men (per Bobby Brown's autobiography), so various traumatic anti-Black ideals were instilled in them from childhood onward by their parent. And we know that childhood trauma stays with a person, oftentimes informing our behaviors for the rest of our lives. On top of that, the people and systems which have dominated our material world for half a millenium created and enforce anti-Blackness, so there is hardly any refuge from it unless a person looks critically within themselves for healing and growth. This is a real issue that is beyond Michael, Michael is just a glaring manifestation of it due to his unmatched fame and the extreme degree to which he manipulated body. But it takes vulnerability and strength to acknowledge it, not only in others but in ourselves. And it doesn't mean that a person completely hates being Black. Internalized anti-Blackness is a nuanced spectrum of issues resulting from our intergenerational oppression that surfaces in different ways, such as in the ways we present ourselves or who we choose to be in relationship with.
Luenell needs to educate herself about vitiligo and how different people with vitiligo deal with it and treat it. Somehow with vlad the conversation steers back to Michael Jackson. Maybe it's the amount of views he gets if he puts the name Michael Jackson in the title.
He very much had vitiligo. Autopsy says so. He wore dark makeup during the Off The Wall and Thriller Era along with the white glove to cover it up. He wore lighter and lighter shades the worse it got.
The Klein-Jackson-Arsenal was all staged therapy for a false diagnosis by his dermatologist whom he had made a very rich man for life. "I never had vitiligo" and he told the story. He never had vitiligo and any seemingly appearance of the condition was artificially acquired. Michael underwent a process of depigmentation, and skin bleaching under the care of Arnold Klein. He had used the products for so long to achieve his goal that they were memorized with astonishing details of how each product worked. He said “it was an experiment, I had to know the details, and what if something seriously had happened prematurely to my doctor, I needed to know how to proceed, this is why I wrote everything down in detail, then I memorized it too. I wasn't leaving anything to chance if I could help it” He used various moieties that comprised the secret of the KJA, including high dose glucocorticoids to inhibit corticotrophin releasing hormone (CRH) produced in the hypothalamus, and regulated by negative feedback of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis. CRH stimulates the production of Adrenocorticotropic Hormone ACTH, a product of the pro-hormone pro-opiomelanocortin (POMC), which also produces Melanocyte-stimulating hormone (MSH) that stimulates melanin production, and pigmentation of the skin. Monobenzone (benzyloxyphenol) a topical agent causes excretion of melanin from melanocytes, and melanocyte destruction that results in permanent depigmentation. Mequinol (4-Methoxyphenol) is another topical agent that also causes de-pigmentation of the skin. In Michael's case he used a combination of Mequinol mixed with tretinoin a topical retinoid to permanently bleach the skin by destroying all melanocytes in the basal layer of his epidermis. Using a mixture of 2% Mequinol and 0.01% tretinoin (hydroquinone) as well as Monobenzone (Benoquin 20%) to permanently remove all the skin pigment, a process that involves topical application twice daily, for about four months to one year to obtain complete de-pigmentation. He also had limited laser therapy to some resistant areas. Once he was depigmented he had to protect himself from the sun to avoid damaging sunburn and squamous cell skin cancer, melanoma and peri-follicular pigmented macule. Use of high SPF sunscreen, long sleeves shirts, sunglasses, and gloves became a mandatory source of secondary protection for him.
It saddens me however they rob this man's 50% ownership of Sony Music after he died. And also that his genes/posterity does not appear/reflect in his 3 children. We only have to say that his genes are passed on to his nieces and nephews through his full blooded brothers and sisters children....
Uh he literally did use brown makeup all the way through the BAD era. The vitiligo just got too extensive & it wasn’t practical anymore, especially in a job where you sweat so much.
I love Luennel but it is actually very common that when it progresses past a certain point bleaching the few remaining spots is just easier then painting your whole body.
When I was younger I thought Mike was crazy for bleaching his skin but I understand why now. It makes better sense to just bleach your skin and be done than to continue using make-up for the rest of your life
He for sure had the vitiligo tho it was proven in his autopsy he used benoquin cream to even out the depigmentation of his skin benoquin is only affective on vitiligo patients
Michael Jackson did have vitiligo and lupus the autopsy reported it and he bleached his skin because there is no cure for vitiligo, but the diagnosis is to bleach your skin. Vitiligo has no cure. But treatment might stop or slow the discoloring process and return some color to your skin. But as far as the music biggest entertainer that has ever lived. Love Michael with all my heart.😍

Being under that scrutiny constantly is A LOT of pressure I would think.
Especially being onstage under those hot lights with the brown makeup sweating off.
He's skin started looking green I swear
Autopsy also proves he bleached his skin and had a bald head hahahah
@@thetgrenadegranada1570 it’s clear he bleached his skin. To match the vitiligo. And he was bald from the burns from the Pepsi commercial incident. That would explain his hair situation. Not sure why that’s funny.

According to Karen Fay (Michaels make-up artist) they first covered the white spots with black make-up, but the vitiligo got so severe that they had to start covering what was leftover from his black skin with white make-up
Also Michael's hat from Smooth Criminal that Kim Kardashian bought for her daughter still had his brown make-up on it. It clearly smeared a lot.

@@wendywhoisit1819 Makeup on the outside of the hat?
Well that is what happens when you use "19 tubes of hydroquinone and 18 tubes of benoquin". The skin is not going to absorb all of that bleach evenly. Bleaching cream was not meant for that. Michael's vitiligo condition was very similar to Terrence J'. Bleaching cream is meant to even out one's skin tone not erase it. Hence why dermatologists only prescribe 1 tube at a time and never hydroquinone and benoquin at the same time!
@@cjking4511 did they use creams to cover up the vitiligo?
I’m convinced people just like belittling Michael just because. If that question was really a concern, then they could’ve easily found the answer. I just wish people would listen as much as they talk
Vlad just looks for black people's approval for the shit he says and argues when they dont agree
Michael was smart for never addressing questions like this. He has you talking about him years after he’s gone. And that’s what will keep him relevant for decades and keep producing him money.
By the time the 80’s hit, Michael wanted his life to be “the greatest show on earth.” He definitely got his wish.
@@Kore-Lay facts Michael never adopted a brown skinned child smh
And to be honest, Lisa Marie was fine as hell back then, so I don't blame him for marrying her 👀
Exactly same thing with Elvis Presley
I'm happy that most comments are correcting misconceptions about Michael's vitiligo. If someone has vitiligo and it's widespread across the body, they can go through a process known as medical depigmentation using products like Benoquin. Medical depigmentation is not the same as skin bleaching. It's a valid way of responding to the skin condition.
He did use that. But then again who are we to question how folk handle their condition.....
@@cjking4511 He was between 21-22 in 1980 in fact it became apparent in 1982 hence the white glove and the accompanied lupus as well. If he used those chemicals to treat it so be it. I'm very informed. My cousin and nephew have it too. It was apparent to MJs family by 1979 when he was 20,21....

Paris is literally the only one in which you could make any kind of argument that they're adopted.
I think MJ used surrogate mother and IVF. Some argue that his former dermatologist, Arnold Klein is the father. He does have a resemblance to the kids from pics that I've seen.
@Clinton Stewart obviously you don't know what you're talking about. Look at @davinaluce on TikTok. Educated yourself...stop judging based on assumptions
Shouldn't be a surprise, but Luenell isn't very smart. Make-up wouldn't help because the vitiligo spots continue to form over the body, so MJ had to lighten his skin.

For those without knowledge of Vitiligo. You can't just go out and buy makeup to cover up Vitiligo. It can very in skin pattens. Those with Vitiligo go through a lot mentally and be kind and be thankful you don’t have to go though life with the skin disorder.
Vitiligo spreads and eventually you will lose all your pigment. You expect him to paint himself brown? Use your common sense.
That is the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard ... why would he
He did, he hid stuff and used makeup but on his chest etc he was coming out ghostly white. It's part of the function of the gloves, making him stay apparently black as long as possible
Once it was too far gone and looked like train wreck beneath his clothes he didn't have the same options cause makeup is a coating that smears on everything and rubs off. The lightening is mostly permanent and can achieve consistent skin tone so you look like some type of person instead of some type of burn victim, which he also was BTW via his Pepsi commercial accident

What’s good with Lunell’s TRIPLE chin???
Not only did his autopsy report confirm that he had vitiligo, but also pictures online confirm that. More of his skin became depigmented so he stopped using brown makeup and began using white makeup. When vitiligo covers the majority of your body you can get surgery to remove and bleach the remaining color.
Black people bleaching and white people tanning
How about this, they dont talk about it because its none of your business if they are adopted or not.

Lmao he did. But his Vitiligo kept getting worst so it was just easier to bleach the skin.

So why did he have nose eye and chin surgery with the str8 hair to match 🤔
“And where is Venus in all this..damn!
Where’s ya f*ckin sister? Tf” 🤣😭🤣😩😭🤣😭🤣
Actually his SON prince look exactly like him!!
🤣🤣🤣
If he ain't black with a bell pepper nose and kinky hair, then he doesn't look nothing like Michael
He doesn't look like Michael jackson
Michael Jackson did have vitiligo and lupus the autopsy reported it and he bleached his skin because there is no cure for vitiligo, but the diagnosis is to bleach your skin. Vitiligo has no cure. But treatment might stop or slow the discoloring process and return some color to your skin. But as far as the music biggest entertainer that has ever lived. Love Michael with all my heart.😍
Vlad you creepy AF ‼️
stop talking about Michael Jackson! Leave him alone! Just leave him alone!
Because he viewed white as superior
He told u that?
@@Cxs1a3 so that’s a no?
I think he was told to do that by the Illuminati shit.
It's irrelevant what he said, action speak louder than words
@@Cxs1a3 so, no?
I saw the pic Serena looked CRAZY “where’s your f-ing sister?” 😭😭😭
Blanket is the only kid that actually looks like Micheal idk how blanket looks so much like him but he does look like his dad the other kids aren’t his but blanket is
It’s a condition you can’t change that. The face altering surgery was too much tho
For Serena to marry who she did just highlights how she's probably always had self-image issues. She needs some stylists. Even her fashion sense is wack af.
😒😪🙄
Never saw an African-American woman with naturally bleach blonde hair, but anyway, what do I know....
