I love her realness. Her beauty is timeless. He needed a woman like this in his life. This is why the wheels came off. I still love Michael forever ❤
💯. She would have been so good for him.
@Nobody Special515 to sell his soul.
@Nobody Special515 Yes she would have. Why are you arguing like this when it's not what happened? To have a normal woman in his life who is in the industry that understood his plans would have been very good for him.
@Nobody Special515 I know these things. Been a fan all my life. I'm saying someone who would've fit along with his agenda would've been good for him. It didn't have to be Stephanie Mills. I know he wanted more. Get over it.
She seems bitter
Stephanie Mills says she didn’t drink or do drugs. And THAT is why she looks and sounds so good to this very day. She has looked after herself! 🙏🏾❤️
I don't either, Drugs will age the skin and body quick.
she does not look good for 65

She looks n sounds fabulous. I don't think she drank or did drugs. She really looks beautiful.
"Michael didn't think he was handsome" So true, I wish he had realize that. Especially his smile, so beautiful.
She explained why he felt that way. It's because he had an acne problem. Of course a lot girls wouldn't have known because they weren't up close with him like Stephanie Mills was.
Stephanie Mills is authenticity personified. She is a leader not a follower. Certainly underrated not understated
She comes across as genuine

“When he was white” tho 🤦🏾♂️. Shame on here for saying that. 😂😂😂
Ms. Mills is an icon, who I felt never got her due. The fact that she and Michael Jackson dated tells me that each saw the beauty in the other. Very fascinating interview from someone who knew Michael well. And Ms. Mills is very beautiful and aging gracefully.
Play "Something In The Way" in any room and it's all love.

Lizz called him the king of pop
It also tells you that Michael was SMASHING everything.

Stephanie Mills made it possible for young black kids to dare and dream of Broadway!! Thank you Stephanie, you are a true legend and pioneer!!❤️🙏🏽🎭
Kinda of sort of that was earlier the great Leona Horne. Lol.
@@segur2289 If you know Lena’s background and her father’s influence, it’s a bit different.
I do believe Stephanie as Dorothy in an Black musical adaptation of The Wizard Of Oz had a profound effect on younger black kids, plus broadway in the 70’s was more accessible than in the 40’s and 50’s for black audiences.
@@Dimi374
True, there were many women before or after Stephanie in entertainment but regardless what you say about Horne's family influence she was and remains at the forefront and Stephanie would already knows this just from black history of famous black women artists Dtephanie is alright. Lol
@@segur2289 Although Lena may have been the first, more black audiences identified with Ethel Waters who was a better singer and more talented actor, not to mention Pearl Bailey.
Like I said before theatre was more accessible in the 70’s therefore had a greater impact.
Oh and let us not forget, MS EARTHA KITT!!
Stephanie toured as well as play Dorothy on Broadway, along with Ren Woods, Stephanie reached a larger audience of young black kids as well as her character she created.

I love how Stephanie Mills didn't try to beat up on Michael Jackson. Told it from her perspective the best she could. She's a woman of such respect and dignity. She's very easygoing in the interview as well. I love that!

Stephanie is a gifted artist. I had the astounding pleasure to work closely with her in Detroit on an incarnation of Black Nativity. My most enduring memory of her is working with my husband, Alvin Waddles, who was the Musical Director of the play, and she was snapping her fingers to guide him as to the tempo of a song in the play that she wanted. It was an organic artistic MOMENT of artistic creation that I’ll never forget. She IS the REAL DEAL. Will ALWAYS love her having seen that moment…Not that such is uncommon, but the fact that I was able to see it, let me know how much of a true artist she was and is. My moment…
❤❤❤❤❤
Wow what a great memory and a lucky break I would love to hang out with her!!!
👏
Her voice is a powerhouse! Love her ❤️
I love her honesty about their relationship. And her voice was one of the greatest. She needs more recognition for her work.
She'll neva get her credit cuz she skipped the parties 🎉
I don't think she's being completely honest. At one point she was saying that she didn't know if he was her boyfriend and denied dating him when one of Michael's lady friends asked her.
@@tias.6675 Omg Chile, she said they dated BUT because they were so young at the time she looks back on it more so as a friendship but if you heard the stories you’d say it’s a relationship as well.
She still told another lady Michael was seeing that her and Michael were not dating. The two have a photo together and everything. A SECOND lady also called out Stephanie on multiple occasions for lying about dating him. I personally think they were more than friends, but those women were around, I wasn't.
Yes she does!
He didn't call himself the king of pop, the public did and he earned it😌

Stephanie Mills is my all time favorite r&b singer and she can hold her own vocally along side people like Luther Vandross, Whitney Houston, Tina Turner, Michael Jackson and Patti LaBelle. King of Pop title is actually underrated for Michael he should be called The Greatest entertainer of all time..
Yeah Michael wanted to be the greatest entertainer to ever live. More then just the king of pop but of Music Period. And he is. I respect her for respecting that she saw they were going in separate directions instead of being bitter about it. I feel out of everyone she truly loved Michael and treated him Normal. I think a huge misconception of MJ is that he was ashamed of his blackness. Nothing could be further from the truth and even his music has seen him express his blackness. Remember The Time was a tribute to ancient Egypt and he literally transforms into a panther in Black Or White. Even the meddling in hiphop when he made the Dangerous and History albums. Mike was proud of his blackness. I just think it was in very subtle ways that he would express it. Even that story of MTV shows that he was a trailblazer in what he did. Mike had to cross over and it may have separated him from his people but after that, MTV had no choice but to show our culture and MJ was a huge part of that.
His vitiligo was real. I wish people would look closely at the gimmicks and makeup and realise that he was losing pigment and trying desperately to disguise that.
This comment! 💯
Michael only realized this once he changed his skin and it still wasn't enough to convince the group he was trying to impress 🙄 he embraced his blackness when the whites turned against him
he very clearly told the organiser of the sperm donation that he wanted his kids to not look like him when he was young. he had serious phenotypically-driven identity crisis. His dermatologist told him to tell the press it was just vitiligo. that skin condition never alters the appearance in the way he had dermatological alterations. Also the way he had his nose knobbed so many times. it hurts his fans to consider this.

You must be talking about the Broadway play because that's Diana Ross in the movie
@@kinggeorge9331 Stephanie Mills was the original Dorothy in the "All Black" version of The Wiz (the play). The play came out years BEFORE the movie. Berry Gordon later bought the rights to "The Wiz" just so that he could specifically cast Diana Ross in the leading role. This is the ONLY reason that Diana beat out Stephanie Mills from being cast in the movie. She had an unfair advantage. But the guy who played the "lion" was cast in both the play and the movie.
Yes. I've been following her career also since The Wiz. Prior to The Wiz, she won at the Apollo theater like 6 times in a row, and that's how she landed the leading part in the play. Then later a recording career. Love, love, love Ms. Stephanie Mills.

I love the look at the end as she was answering (13:18) - that's a true sister. This is the look a sister gives when you are trying to kick a little game and she is waiting to see what you come with in terms of conversation.
Stephanie is so incredibly believable! I appreciate this.
I love it when women come forward and confirm Michael was a red blooded male. Many recording artists and producers have also confirmed he loved women. The only thing Michael ever done wrong during his time on this planet was allow himself to trust the wrong people and get himself exploited. Regardless, he will forever remain the most famous talent this planet will ever see 🙌🏻
It's crazy concerning MJ because even though he wanted to be a big star, the elites still worked against him anyway because they simply did not like him. As he got older he started to wake up to that. It sucks because when younger, one does not see it, but as they get older, they start to see it. I believe that if he stayed with Stephanie, they would have had a nice life together, and he would still be alive today.
Very well said💯
yeah he had plenty of enemies and on top of that here you have Stephanie denying his vitiligo and saying he didn't want to be black but doesn't say any valid reason as to why MJ after Thriller would suddenly not want to be black given that he achieved his biggest success pretty much looking black
Their PR made them hang out.. he wasn’t into her like that.. he was into Diana Ross. Miss Stephanie is not mentioning that their PR put them together.. it wasn’t a real “relationship”. She said it in a previous interview but I guess she likes to exaggerate it for what it’s worth. MJ liked her, he was a fan but he was head over heels in love with Diana. Even Tatum O’Neal said so. He hung out with Brooke but only took a romantic interest in her once Diana got married.
Very well said. I believe that as well! 💯💯
Without Michael and everything he did, the musical landscape for black artists wouldn't be the same. It's a harsh reality.

I checked her sign since I’m into astrology and she is an Aries like me, we are known for being blunt and keeping it 💯. That’s why I grew fond to love her after this interview. I still love Michael Jackson, but it’s true he wanted to associate himself with the white audience more as his star power continue to grow. Virgos at the end of the day are perfectionist and care about their public image and brand. If Michael did associate himself with Black celebrities it was someone who were considered huge A Lists, (few examples, Eddie Murphy, Naomi Campbell, Michael Jordan)
Damn sis. You got him sounding like he was r*cist. MJ associated himself with those kind of ppl when he was younger & wanted to fit in. When he got older & started to see shii for what it was. He made it VERY clear he was a BM & employed, worked with and always interacted with all kinds of Blk ppl.. not just A list celebrities.
