    Remember... this is a GT car. Designed for highway cruising. The fact that it manages to keep up with many sports cars on the track is amazing already - cars that are supposed to be lighter and more nimble. But those sports cars won't be nearly as comfortable on a road trip, which is GT's home territory.
    maybe slightly wider tires up front would solve that uneven brake issue? maybe the wheels are staggered too much...

    • @hyedefinition1080
      @hyedefinition1080 5 років тому +1

      Good point, I went with 255 tires up front and have not experienced the uneven break wear others have experienced.

    Nice short review video, I really like the Hot or Not format. If I had 50k I would go with this car and I don't care if it says Kia. I would love a 4 door sporty sedan and this would fit the bill, there are too many Dodge Chargers out there, so this would change it up some. Yes I know I could get a low mileage BMW M3 or one of the Germans for the same price, but there are not many NEW cars in that price level that meets up to THE STINGER!!! :)

    • @TheWVgoodguy22
      @TheWVgoodguy22 6 років тому

      I actually like the SS, aka the Ultimate Sleeper Sedan. I worked recently for a Chevy dealer as a salesman and it may look tame, but it would go like a bat out of hell. Well at least that is what the manager said since most of us never took it off the lot to drive ourselves, only when riding along for a test drive. I have actually been looking for certified pre-owned, but they are rare in my area. I also wish it had AWD as an option for my snowbelt area. Maybe Chevy will come out with something similar even though Holden dropped out.

    • @TheWVgoodguy22
      @TheWVgoodguy22 6 років тому

      Yes I remember that one now, I actually recommended it to AutoVlog as a replacement for his Ford Fusion that is up on lease. One would have to get the Reserve trim or higher to get the 3.0 V6 TT option. I actually just built one on their site and it ended up at $51,500 with most options and $54,500 if I add the "Luxury" Package that is Premium LED Headlamps and an upgraded speakers and sound system. Definitely a more luxed out option with more variety of colors than the Stinger and I think it's American made. Great idea Shane.

      Yeah we know we know! LOL. This car is faster than that car. That car is faster than this car. You can get this car for that price. Yeah we know. Lol.
      1 - Not everybody buys a car for 11 second quarter mile and 7 minute Nurburgring times. 4.7 second 0 to 60 is plenty fast enough for me for a large, roomy, heavy, Grand Touring Car. It's not a hot rod. It's not a track monster.
      2 - As someone who worked in three German service departments and one British, I say good luck with buying an off lease vehicle. While that can apply to pretty much any brand, I'm speaking from experience. Ask anyone you know that leases a vehicle, hell even yourself if you are currently leasing a vehicle. What's the logic when it comes to maintaining that vehicle? "It's a lease. I just do whatever it takes to keep it running. When the lease is up, I'm just turning it in and getting another one anyway." That means the hood never gets opened by you between services, and the bare minimum is done to keep it going until the end of your lease. Then some poor sucker is going to buy it and the engine and transmission are blown by a 100,000 miles because of how poorly maintained it was. I would sooner pay $50,000 for that all wheel drive Stinger GT, then I would go to my local German dealership and buy a used certified vehicle for $30,000.

    Traded in my 2011 Optima EX for a Stinger GT2 AWD - best decision I ever made...for a lot of reasons. Not only looks great but the 365hp performs nicely. Gets a lot of compliments from people. Still having to get used to pushing the 'Park' button instead of having it on the shifter, lol. Minor observation. Love the interior and the color options for ambient lighting. They're still rather uncommon on the streets so they stand out from the crowd. Haven't had it on snow or ice yet - and still debating if it'll stay in the garage for the winter - despite the AWD it's a very low car and likely won't go through deeper snow very well. Home run Kia!

    It is a very impressive car for the price, the interior is as good as any of its German competitors, and the steering is legitimately better than what is in the current BMW 3 series. Also VERY quick with that twin turbo V6. There are a few sweet spots in the price range. The base Stinger is 31k, for that you get a RWD sport sedan with standard heated leather seats and a 252hp turbo 4, 33k gets the same car with AWD. You can get it loaded to the gills with the 4 banger for 38k, or get the base GT with the twin turbo V6 for 37k, or loaded to the gills GT for 48k (the 52k GT2 package only adds a HUD and gimmicky shifter.

      @@OSTKCabal just be aware that the GT2 option also adds Lane assist and other options. The reason I mention Lane assist in particular is that an alignment is very costly and can not be done at a normal shop. It can only be done at a Dealer due to the fact you have to put it on a symulated Dyno to align the car it takes 45mins of constant driving on a consistent speed with no interruptions to do. if done out of your pocket and not with a warrenty can cost as high as a 1000$

    The torque vectoring in the AWD system is brake based and biases the handling more towards understeer, whereas the RWD is the more neutral setup. If the front brakes are fighting you, it's because the car doesn't think you know what you're doing rushing around the corners and is trying to correct. The RWD is the one you want if you're going to be driving like that.

    Unfortunately the track (shown in the winter driving segment) is compacted snow (not ice like they claim). It doesn’t really represent true commuter ice driving where the road surface is polished by other cars on the road. Plus here in the NW, icy roads are polished and wet. Someone is going to get hurt because of this misrepresentation of its capability.

It was quick, responsive and the interior was easily comparable to the 3 series BMW interiors. I say 3 series only because between the 3,5,6, and 7 series BMW adds different levels of refinement to their vehicle depending on which number series you get.
    Although I enjoyed the vehicle, I was skeptical about pulling the trigger on the vehicle because I am in all honesty a “brand whore.” However, comping apples to apples, this car hands down is the better value and it comes with the 10 year 100,000 mile warranty. You won’t get that from any of the above fore mentioned vehicle makes.
    This car is definitely my number one prospect once my lease is up in 4 months.

    it would be really nice if kia branded the stinger the way hyundai brands genesis. My friend who owns a G80 said he would never have purchased one if it said hyundai on the wheel. It's just preference of taste that's all. dope car though.

      They both perform pretty good in the snow. However, I'd take AWD over the RWD. It was fun driving in the snow. I have a RAM rebel and I think the stinger is more fun messing around in the snow.

    If this car hit the street 3 years ago it would have been a killer. In a world were you can get a well equipped A4 or Tesla 3 for 45k sorry no prize. The Stinger is going to be one hell of a used car deal in just two years. Low mile twin turbos will be in the mid twenties.

    I’m surprised no one mentioned anything about the cost to own the Stinger GT Vs Audi, BMW or Mercedes. If you buy a KIA your paying for KIA Maintenace and KIA parts when something breaks. If you buy BMW, Audi or Mercedes you will pay ridiculous prices for Maintenance. Wait a couple of years and you will be able to get a Certified Pre Owned 10k off or more because KIA will depreciate more due to being new in the luxury car segment.

    Were the summer tires used in the snow? Or different tires? It looks like the same tires which would be hard to control. Other sources have said this car comes close to the Germans at a great discount, but the handling is not the same - more of a touring model as the name indicates.

    One comment--just got this car.You guys have the absolute worst 0 to 60 times of any reviewers.Every car you test is almost a full second off to 60.I plan on shooting a video and even without launch control am almost sure the car can hit 5 or a little below just by punching it and letting the computer take over.I have to admit it has been unusually cold the last few days--which is great for turbos--but having driven many Hi performance cars--car is quicker then that.I had just driven a camaro SS and can tell you that the stinger is equally as fast as that and in most situations can prob get off the line quicker with AWD--plus when the 2 turbos spool up--the car absolutely blazes. I like your reviews--but everything you test is always off

      They mention many times that their test track is over several 1000 feet above sea level, and thus cars are 1/2 second to a full second slower on their tracks...

      trstnhn people who abuse their lease car pay steep penalties to the point is cheaper to keep paying off the car.
      Because their still under warranty by the time is return any problem will be fixed by the dealer. Maintenance is force by the dealer. Lease car are safest to buy than from a private party
