Haa! I just SCORED a 13k mi Dyna Convertible 1997 vintage. Clean as grammas bathroom! $2GRAND! Hadda clean the tank & carb ,new battery and oil. The gangsta lean. Instead of 2"" over toobs do longer damper rods. Just dont trackerdie-cuz their units are crap. Crooked. Made my own with my machinist. 1.375 " more travel and LONGER legged. Try welding the motormounts at the rivets & then SPUTHE LINK it! Hybrid swing arm is cool too. Machine dropouts for axle. Cut old swingarm. Industrial adhesive and bolts back where old dropouts were. You can use Brocks & modify it
Well, I just forked out the money as I fitted extended dampers from Trackerdie and longer shocks from Hagon here in the UK - I'm getting old and need a softer ride - and the bike was leaning over quite a bit further.... it's a bit better than with the standard stand but.... I did the same with my '06 Sportster Roadster which had the longest stand of all rubermounts which gainded 2 1/2 inch at the front and an inch or so to the shocks and that baby did lean.... so I tried a supposedly extended stand for the rubbermount and found it to be the same as the standard one, so I tried one from a '98 XLH which was an inch longer but.... ended up getting a one inch extended for an '89 to '03 XLH (supposedly +2 inch now) and that is better. The bikes are at the same angle of lean now and it is easier 'picking them up' off the stand but not as easy as it was with standard forks and 11.5 inch on the Dyna and 12.5 inch shocks on the Sporty ! back then I had to lean the bikes to the right to get the stand out fully......
That weapon would be damn near perfect if you upgraded the front and rear rotors, calipers and pads! That is an upgrade that some people overlook completely. A new kickstand is on my list too hahaha😀
I know this is a year or more old. But when you were talking about how much better it is and where it use to sit. Should have taken a picture before and after and put them up side by side or something. Not really to prove anything or anything too serious. Just good visuals, adds to the video. Just my opinion. Bike is sick man. I’m in the same boat. Clapped out hell yea brother bike to something worth riding. Stay rad 🤙🏻
Did you keep the rake from the Wide Glide on this build with the +2" fork tubes? Just got a cheap wide glide and looking to do the same. I know you swapped the triple tree, I assume that ditched the rake?
Love the build, bro! How much did you spend on the paint? And if you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay for the paint? And what color is that? Thanks! Ride safe!
Hey man, what’s the triple tree and fork setup? I’m building an ‘01 wide glide and nothing seems compatible, but your setup is slick as hell. Thanks, your vids on your dyna are keeping me motivated!
Miles, do you have issues with the kickstand sagging when it's resting against the passenger peg mount? I did the +1 kickstand on my Dyna as well, and had to remove the passenger peg bracket in order for it to retract completely.
Drag Specialties makes a gloss black +1" kickstand for dynas as well, about $25 and since it's drag Specialties any dealership, Indi shop, or individual can buy them easily. Just as an option. I swapped mine out the same day I lifted the rear end, shit had me way too paranoid lol. Looks way cleaner than the blocks some dudes mount onto the oem kickstand too in my opinion. The older dynas don't have the rubber block on the frame to stock the kickstand from chattering against it ?
I lowered mine 2.5 “ If you make the DYNA taller. It handles worse brake worse and lazy steering. I don’t get it But no such thing has a bad DYNA. Your lucky to have that back drop. Those roads. You really are lucky .
Incorrect sir. Increasing height gives more lean angle. As well it should not have any effect on braking aside from making it better if you go to a stiffer spring...
@@PowerCult thank you I'm 6'4 and most motorcycles look small and I enjoy learning about the Dyna wide glides thinking about buying one and have been skeptical because of my height. What would be a good year to buy ?
Good stuff man! Have you put any thought into getting taller rear suspension? Game changer in my opinion. Also, if you're doing 2+ in front, the rear should be at least 13.5 imo, or else the bike isn't level. All personal preference, but I dig it on my bike! Got an early dyna too.
Miles Mortensen oh for sure! I thought they looked a little taller than 12.5. Awesome build man!! Good parts choices. Only thing I would add would be the tach and speedo on the bars.

I got an idea for a mod for the 1500, how about some new lighting? New front lights and tail lights and some fogs if it doesn’t have some on it already, and here’s a link for a video that shows this piece for like 20 bucks or so that pops all the lights on when you engage the brights ua-cam.com/video/hlYN7F0-fO0/v-deo.html

Great vid. Where did you snag the wheel chock?
I like the hand gaurds
The bike is so clean but those hand guards are sweet!
Should of got the “bungking” 2” kickstand block . Got one for mine . Literally drill two holes and done .
Doesnt look to bad if u scrub the kickstand and block, hit it with some black paint and clearcoat, hides it pretty well
Just installed mine, sits WAY batter with the block than a new kickstand.

I stopped the video at 5.54 and compared the lean to a shot at 1.15..... there doesn't seem to be any difference.....
My thought too. Might be a slight difference but not enough to justify $100 and end up with a fitment problem as well. No thanks...
yes
I can see the difference, about 1" lol. But thats alot when you are talking about balance point of the bike.
