i'm rooting for mitten number two!As a warm climate knitter, I am envious of all the accessories that would be fun to make. All I make are sweaters, usually fine gauge (warm climate again) which are long hauls. I am considering socks. How are the smallest Chiagoo circulars? I have the two larger sets and rarely use anything larger than size 4.
Great podcast, you're really making me interested in Fair Isle knitting. I'm eyeing up the radiant star cowl. My partner uses tailwind for all of his long workouts (running or cycling) and he loves it, especially compared to other hydration boosters. He's got a cola flavoured one that's really nice. Good luck with the feast day as well as candlemas. The nice thing about an early lent and Easter, they're over so much sooner!
Do all the fair isle!! And yes, I love that Tailwind has both carbs and electrolytes (but it does mean consuming a massive amount of liquid, which I have to be careful about). You are so right about Lent and Easter being over nice and early!
I would be curious to hear your thoughts on Daniel Deronda. It had some truly excellent scenes in my opinion. I think I connected to the characters in Middlemarch more, but I understood the social/historical context of Daniel Deronda much better. I'm currently reading G M Trevelyan's Social History of England so that I can reread Middlemarch and understand what's going on a little better.
That's so interesting, thank you for sharing! I agree that some of the scenes are just so great. I also agree about the characters in Middlemarch being more relatable - I think the people in Daniel Deronda are often just totally over the top!
Hi Emma! I LOVE your Natalie Cowl -- maybe for the Accessory KAL. I have J & S and Marie Wallin (worsted spun) colors to play with. What do you think about mixing them to getting a specific pallette?
I would absolutely mix them! I find that because Marie Wallin's yarn has some zwartbles blended in, it has a slight halo that makes it play well texturally with woollen-spun yarn. I'd go for it.
I plan to do the Traveler cowl too. I’ve started spinning with drop spindles. Since I’m just south of you in Millersville can you recommend someone for in person lessons?
I'm not sure if there are folks in the area for spinning lessons - I got some initial tips from friends but then just used UA-cam and books for the rest! But I know there is a spinning group on the last Friday of every month at Clover Hill Yarn in Catonsville, so I bet they would have resources!
I adore the Mary Bennet socks! I have some Garthenor from TWT and this pattern seems like the perfect fit. Will your cowl pattern be available to purchase without kits? I have an absurd stash of J&S as well as Spindrift. Both your new patterns are so lovely, can't wait to knit them!
Hi Emma, can you comment on Knitpick's Palette? What do you like about it and what do you not like about it? Would you recommend for color work or for fingering projects in general? I would like to knit with J&S but it is more pricey and I wondered about your opinion on Palette since you have a lot of experience. Is it better to just spend a bit more, and why? Thank you!
I have always really liked Palette - it's nonsuperwash and comes in TONS of colors, and it works beautifully in colorwork. The main difference between that and a yarn like J&S is that Palette is worsted-spun while J&S is woolen. I find that Palette will give you much crisper stitch definition, but if you want to make your knitting look like a watercolor painting, real shetland jumper weight is the way to go. I would recommend trying a small project in each (that doesn't require a lot of yarn) and seeing what you prefer!
Fabulous Tiny Desk . Thank you
LOL, Emma! I love the cowl and, no, you can NEVER have too much purple! 🙋🏽♀💜💜💜🧶
The new colorways of the Natalie cowl 😍😍
Emma I love that sweater you are wearing! Your cowl is fantastic also.👏🏽👏🏽
Great podcast! So happy to hear about your new pattern!!! 🐑♥️🐑♥️
Another great Podcast although it’s taken me a while to get to watching it as I was away visiting my parents. ❤❤
Had to chuckle when you said it was weird saying excuse me to your wheel😀
You can take the girl out of Canada...

Thank you!! I think you can get Chiaogoo needles way down to 00 or even 000 -- they have interchangeable sets for them and everything!

Hooray! And yes, absolutely, the cowl pattern will definitely be on Ravelry as well. Thank you so much - I can't wait to see yours!!
