Thank you, I always appreciate your comments. It just goes to show how many ways you can paint Ork skin haha I'm on a mission to fin all the ways to paint the skin now
Fantastic tutorial! One question though. Being a beginner, I've always believed painting the bits separately (e.g. somehow fixed on a stick/handle/holder) is better to paint parts of the model that would be difficult to reach if it was assembled. But seeing so many pros painting the minis fully assembled makes me think I'm wrong. What are your thoughts on that subject? Thanks a lot for the video! Subd.
I would imagine most pros paint in sub assemblies. If I’m working on a small amount of miniatures then I’ll generally always do sub assemblies. It’s a quality of life thing. Areas are easier to get to and it’s less daunting. I have a video going on how I get my miniatures ready for painting. At the end of the day it’s a choice, I don’t always do sub assemblies, always try different things and see what you prefer. Everyone is different 😃
I am about to get into the hobby with a friend we both have never played. I have recently gone through a rough patch with an injured back and my friend is gifting me the ork camandos. So excited to play
I know what a back injury can do to disrupt everything. Hopefully things are heading in the right direction for you now and your on the mend. You got a great friend. The Orks are my favourite faction and the patrol box is amazing place to start. Welcome to the hobby and I really hope you get a lot out of it 😃 I know I have
recently discovered a free app called "Spin the Wheel" and its exactly what it sounds like, using the color suggestions here on top of a few custom chosen can really help create a proper looking green horde that isnt uniform in coloration!
Yeah these schemes will totally work for vehicles. They just have big armour panels after all. I do have a vehicle tutorial as well if you’ve not seen that 😃
thank you very much, the old white dwarf painting guides were my insperation where they showed the steps next to each other. i thought why not do that in a video

I’m glad. Just realise airbrush’s are just another tool. They’re not the top tear of painting. I have one and it just sits there doing nothing mostly . I would suggest try lots of different styles and stick to what you like. I would say you can’t get the same level of quality brush painting, but that’s my opinion. 💪🏻 get good with a brush and you can’t loose
Loving it still Michael! Impressive you gave each clan the time and dedication they deserved! Which skin recipe have you used on your personal waaaaagh?!
Thank you very much. This videos been planned for a while. I didn’t want to spend 6 weeks showing people the same thing over and over, just with different colours 😛. My own Orks are really simple. I use my Ork skin mix washed with the biel-tan lahmian medium mix and then highlighted with krieg khaki.
🤔 hmmm I’m not very good on basing to be honest, that’s why I use the acrylic bases now haha I wouldn’t know what people would like to know about basing either 🤷🏼♂️ but never say never. I just have to get better at it first before I show everyone else
thank you, i'm glad you like the tutorial. if I was to do horns now. I'd keep it simple and paint a base of Morghast bone and then paint lines leading up to the tip with Ushabti bone and screaming skull
So barely getting into 40k myself and I was wondering since I have the same combat patrol pack you have in the video on what color to paint my army. On the box it seems they have the Goff paint scheme but do I have to paint them that way or could I change them into Badmoons or Deathskullz? Not sure yet on which clan I want to be.
Every colour scheme you see painted on boxes or in publications are just one way of painting your miniatures. You can paint your Orks how ever you want to. In the video I give a basic guide to painting some of the different clans. The different clans have different play styles and rules in the table top game so it depends on how you want to play them. But honestly paint them how ever you want, they’re your miniatures and go with what gets your creative juices flowing 😃 have a look online and the Ork codex if you have it and read the lore and back ground on the different clans and see if there is a clan your drawn too
(snake bites have completely brown armor, but have have tribalistic zig-zag patterns on their armor, they're alright with yellow, as we've seen in their clan mark, the Zig-zags come in red or white.)
I plan to make a sort of klan federation of orks because i love all of their tactics so well i can't pick one i like in particular. Almost like i plan to collect and paint a grand alliance of destruction army in age of sigmar. If i had to pick i think i enjoy the ladz associated with wealth, loot and big meks.
The great thing about the hobby is we can paint our miniatures how ever we want. :) I'm a huge fan of the Goffs, I like having loads of orks all rushing in to combat and overwhelming enemy units, you get to roll tons of dice which is always more fun as well
@TableTopReadyUA-cam I like the goffs for close range combat perks, the bad moons for ranged combat and the blood axes are fun for commandos and kunin tactics. I like snake bites because of gretchin and squig perks. Probably because my first orks model and 40K model in general was a runt herd with gretchin and a pet attack squig.
If you didn’t want to go so bright or saturated, have a look at Ungor Flesh or even Kislev. I highlight red in lots of different ways in other tutorials like my gold custodes and blood angel tutorials. Go check em out, they may give you some ideas
I just transfer the lahmian medium into a dropper bottle, I've got a link in my video descriptions which ones I buy from amazon, I use the bigger ones. you can just take the label off the original pot easily and put it on the dropper bottle if you want :)
I love the new Orks boyz. They are mono posed though but they do look fantastic. I’m thinking they may bring out a different box though with all the weapon options as this one is mixed
I've bought a huge box of mixed orcs, all assembled and undercoated. Fancy doing a video on what distinguishing marks identify orcs to a clan?? It's driving me mad trying to assemble them into how they were sold.
The thing that lets you know what clan they are in, are the colours. So this tutorial already kind of goes through that. If you know people already in the hobby then see if they know what you have. You could also go through the games workshop store and see what miniatures you have or get yourself the codex which will tell you everything you need to know 😃
great video ! very helpful ! I`m planning to do my Deathskulls , but looking more for blue tones in new codex - there is a picture of a Deathskull beast Snagga - Do You have maybe an idea what color to use ? seems more like base of Kantor Blue mix with Caldor ( looks more saturated blues then Maccrage ) . What do You think sir ?
Go check out my painting deathskulls tutorial, if you havn’t. I based that off the buggy painted in deathskulls colours which they pretty much did for their snagga in the book. If you want to go darker with the blue, you could mix that colour if you wanted or you could just give the macragger a wash of nuln oil all over. When your looking at games workshops images, they can be deceiving because of colour correction for printing and the highlights they do also effect how the base blue looks. So always experiment and make sure it’s what your happy with 😃

@@TableTopReadyUA-cam sick work mate!
Honestly, it’s great content! So easy to follow and understand. Are you planning on any basing tutorials?
🤔 hmmm I’m not very good on basing to be honest, that’s why I use the acrylic bases now haha I wouldn’t know what people would like to know about basing either 🤷🏼♂️ but never say never. I just have to get better at it first before I show everyone else
@@TableTopReadyUA-cam I hear ya! Maybe that’s one for the bottom of the list 🙈
You are a great Orc painter, great tutorial aswell.
Thank you very much, I really appreciate the comment :)
Such a good tutorial, suoer helpful! How did you do the horns ?
thank you, i'm glad you like the tutorial. if I was to do horns now. I'd keep it simple and paint a base of Morghast bone and then paint lines leading up to the tip with Ushabti bone and screaming skull
Nice video! definetly going to use your ork skin technique
Thank you. This skin recipe and the Ork megaboss skin recipe are probably my go to for top notch looking skin
But honestly paint them how ever you want, they’re your miniatures and go with what gets your creative juices flowing 😃 have a look online and the Ork codex if you have it and read the lore and back ground on the different clans and see if there is a clan your drawn too
@@TableTopReadyUA-camAwesome thanks for the information. Been watching videos on all the clans so still deciding on what to do. Thank you.
(snake bites have completely brown armor, but have have tribalistic zig-zag patterns on their armor, they're alright with yellow, as we've seen in their clan mark, the Zig-zags come in red or white.)
ooo I didn't know that. I'll have to do my research :D
@@TableTopReadyUA-cam learned it from the official armor painting guide from the Warhammer channel
Anyone ever tell you that you sort of look like Dana Carvey?
Haha I’ve never been told that
I plan to make a sort of klan federation of orks because i love all of their tactics so well i can't pick one i like in particular.
Awesome tutorial, thank you!
thank you :D
*cries in freebooter* jokes aside, Loved the video man!
Don’t worry 😉 I want to do a freebooters and flashgitz Tutorial in the future
TutOrkorial!!! Always good.
😁 I agree. More TutOrkrials coming
Great video! I'd love to see your take on a freeboota lad as well!
Thank you. I do have plans for a flash gitz tutorial 😁
The fire dragon bright looks a bit too orange for my liking, can anyone recommend a slightly more red edge highlight colour for Mephistion red?
If you didn’t want to go so bright or saturated, have a look at Ungor Flesh or even Kislev. I highlight red in lots of different ways in other tutorials like my gold custodes and blood angel tutorials. Go check em out, they may give you some ideas
@@TableTopReadyUA-cam Awesome I'll have a look, thanks for taking the time to reply!
where did you get the lahmian bottle from?
I just transfer the lahmian medium into a dropper bottle, I've got a link in my video descriptions which ones I buy from amazon, I use the bigger ones. you can just take the label off the original pot easily and put it on the dropper bottle if you want :)
Blood Axes: (silently and calmly) Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaagh …
dakka dakka dakka ... shhhhh
Do you like the new orks and are they Monopose?
I love the new Orks boyz. They are mono posed though but they do look fantastic. I’m thinking they may bring out a different box though with all the weapon options as this one is mixed
I've bought a huge box of mixed orcs, all assembled and undercoated. Fancy doing a video on what distinguishing marks identify orcs to a clan?? It's driving me mad trying to assemble them into how they were sold.
The thing that lets you know what clan they are in, are the colours. So this tutorial already kind of goes through that. If you know people already in the hobby then see if they know what you have. You could also go through the games workshop store and see what miniatures you have or get yourself the codex which will tell you everything you need to know 😃
@@TableTopReadyUA-cam that would be nice. But they are all undercoated in black.
It wouldn’t be difficult to re undercoat them a Different colour or just paint them goffs
Wow! Good job, really good tutorial😎
Thank you 😊
Awesome ork painting, might use this for Kill Team and Combat Patrol
Thank you. DO IT and then show me 😀
great video ! very helpful !
So always experiment and make sure it’s what your happy with 😃
Interesting that you clip all the parts out at once. I only clip out and clean up parts when I'm ready to glue them on.
Honestly I’ve only done it this way for the video 😛 it’s just easier to separate the stages. Otherwise I do how you’ve described 💪🏻
Vid was great! I really love orcs and I have been strugggling with Motivation, inspiration, and with solidifying a good process for building and painting my combat patrol and kruleboyz. Thabks for the content.
Thank you very ☺️ I’m really happy my video can help. It’s why I do it. I’ve got a few Ork videos coming out over the next few weeks so hopefully they’ll help get you painting 😃
Honestly, thanks for these, pal. I'll get to them all eventually, but for now I'm going through your Ork vids.
Cheers!
you'll be able to paint all kinds of Orks by the time your done then
good stuff @TableTopReady I'm currently in the process of painting a test mini for a future ork project and found this vid really useful.
I super happy it can help you. It’s why I make these tutorials 😁 I would love to see what your working on
Nice! this is really helpful as I’d like to do a mix of squads with different clans to represent a big Waaaagh! Being formed.
I'm glad this video can be useful for you :) a mixed clan waaagh is going to look wicked
This is fantastic! Thanks for the video! Was very helpful for painting my fungus boyz
brilliant, your very welcome. Anything to get more Orks painted and on the table top :D
thank you for showing how to paint orks! They are also my favorite. I have been nervous because of my hands shaking but i have a awesome color scheme that i want to get started on.
I’m glad I can help. Honestly the more painting you do, you’ll brain will start to steady those hands. Just spend about 20 minutes painting something easy to warm up first 😃 painting handles help as well
excellent videos and technique! I saw you painted the barrels instead of drilling them too, I think they look better painted
I agree. I prefer just painting them. Drilling them out is just extra work haha
2:02 sorry but i cant see that inscription
inscription? if you mean the paints then I list them in the description as well :)
Another great video Michael!
Thank you very much 🙏🏻
About to paint my orks and this video helps a lot on both colors and techniques. Thanks!:)
Brilliant. Orks are and will always be my favourite faction. I’m glad I’ve been able to help you get some painted 💪🏻
Wow your channel is great! I just started painting Orks and your channel has been a great resource in everything Orky!
Thank you very much. I’m glad you find my videos useful 😁
Wow! Very informative video. The editing was also fantastic. Thanks
Thank you so much. I really appreciate the comment
What set of ork boyz are these guys from, they look alot "newer" than the box set on the gw site, also stellar paint job, gonna start an ork army with your tutorials
Thank you so much 😊 these are the new Ork boyz that have only been released in the combat patrol box so far. But they are available
@@TableTopReadyUA-cam wonderful, I'll definitely be getting my hands on some soon, thanks for the clarification. Keep making these amazing tutorials man
no bother :)
4:50 Did you use Morghast Bone or Ushabti? What you say is different to the color picture in the corner
I would go with ushabti bone l Probably a mistake in the script 🤦🏼♂️
@@TableTopReadyUA-cam Already did it hehe. What I wonder: How do you need for one boy? I think I needed around 4-5 hours for one boy. Its freaking long
I think over all I spent a week painting all the Ork boyz in this video. It does take time if you want nice miniatures, but you only have to paint them once 😛
Amazing tutorial! Your brush control is amazing! They came out fantastic.
Thank you very much, it's years of practice and a pair of reading glasses haha
no holes in the barrels of the guns?
orkz dn't need um
Great tips! Thank you very much!
your very welcome, glad you enjoyed the video
@@TableTopReadyUA-cam Right on man! Keep it up!
Oh god bless you, haha. It's been strangely difficult to find a good breakdown of clan differences.
Also you're a fantastic painter and teacher. Your instruction is clear, your voice is great, editing is wonderful. 10/10 mate. Thank you for the help!
Thank you, I’m glad I could help. That’s why I make these tutorials 💪🏻
Muy buena guía de muy buena calidad :)
Muchísimas gracias
i love your ork tutorials!
Thank you 😃 I’m glad your enjoy them. I’ve got more to do
Dude you have no idea how agonising its been waiting for you to paint the new Orks. I am definitely following this tutorial.
I know I’m sorry. I’ve been itching to paint them as well since I seen them. They’re so nice to paintt and I wanted to make sure I made the right video for them 😁 I would love to see how you get on with painting them 😃
Brill tutorial. Orks Rule👍
Orkz do rule. 😁
