  • This video features my first visit to Kailzie Fishery, which has been on my to do list for a while, and it was a very enjoyable day. Some chunky trout in great condition, and I will definitely go back to film in the future.
    I wanted to try out the hair rig buzzer after watching a video from Leigh Pond on this, and really fancied giving it a go!!
    You can see Leigh’s video on this here - • Tying the Hair Rig Buz...
    I had the following rod set up:
    7 weight - Orvis floating line.
    Using 7lb fluorocarbon straight through.
    I hope you enjoyed the video, and please comment and subscribe to get future updates.
    Take care
    Chris

      Nice Joseph! Yeah I really fancy going first thing or in the evening to have a stalk around. Looks like a good water for it, and plenty insect life too.

    Hi Chris, as said the colour is to slow photosynthesis and can have quite a few colours. Blue is my preferred choice. Good vid and stunning spot. As u have a stand alone camera and the head cam, why don't u start mixing it up a bit. as it was u remained on stand alone cam for most then switched to head cam for the netting. try a few very short clips of head cam in there. and the timing of music when u hooked the fish with the damsel was spot on. and the music track was good too. not sure about the first two tracks. Spot on fishing mate.

      Shaun Fishes - Hi Shaun, thanks for the input. I am still trying to get the hang of editing and filming and will try mixing it up a bit. I do all my editing on my phone at the moment, so takes a long time, I am looking at software for a laptop, which might help for the future. Thanks for watching! 👍🏻

      @@TheTroutFlyFisherman That would do my head. I use three, one comes with my laptop and the other two are free downloads. the main one I use now is davinci resolve. I struggled with it for a long time as I am not to clever with tec. But im getting the basics. Clever kit, and free. Good luck with it mate.

      Shaun Fishes - yeah I use a paid app, and to be fair it does the job, it’s amazing what you can do on an iPhone these days!

    Hi Chris. Love your videos. You explain the method used and the picture of the set up is great with the line and flys . Do you give lessons?

    • @TheTroutFlyFisherman
      @TheTroutFlyFisherman  4 роки тому +1

      Peter Anderson - thanks Peter, glad you are enjoying them! I don’t give lessons, I will leave that one to the experts, but if you copy what I do I can guarantee it will bag you fish! If there’s anything specific you would like me to feature let me know and I will try my best to in a future video 👍🏻🎣

    • @peteranderson9268
      @peteranderson9268 4 роки тому +1

      The Trout Fly Fisherman That’s a shame about the lessons as I would pay for a few. I have started to buy the flys that you are catching on and will definitely be copying your methods. Would love to see a wee video of basic flys that are a must and how to set them up and how to fish them. I think I have collected too much flys and don’t know their names or how to properly fish them. Anyway, think about the lessons and keep the videos coming. They are the best I’ve seen so far. Cheers mate.🐟

      Cheers Peter - I’m no expert and would just teach you my bad habits 😂 best going to someone who is qualified, but I’m always happy to help with hints and tips and share what I do, and how I go about catching fish. Will try to get a feature done on specific files and how I fish them 👍🏻 I’m glad you are enjoying the videos, thanks again 👍🏻🎣

    Hi Chris, another great video and cracking fish. Do you keep your rigs on winders ready to go or tie at the bank? Just bought some midas flies the other day to try at Rosslynlee. Ryan.

    • @TheTroutFlyFisherman
      @TheTroutFlyFisherman  4 роки тому +1

      Hi Ryan, thanks mate. I had them made up on rigs before going, that’s a must for the hair rig, was hard enough in the house! Haha! Yeah the Midas did the trick on its first outing, and apparently fish well wet too. Good luck with them at Rosslynlee 👍🏻

    Looks a nice place .... although I might be worried about the colour of the water , if it’s a dye would it effect how the fish would taste etc

    • @TheTroutFlyFisherman
      @TheTroutFlyFisherman  4 роки тому

      Interesting point Tommy. I didn’t keep any fish so can’t confirm. My initial gut feel is that the dye will be a lot less than what we have in some of our own food and drink products, so unlikely to make much difference, but i would be keen to hear from someone on this. I will ask next time I am down there 👍🏻

      @@TheTroutFlyFisherman its a dye that keeps algae and weeds growth down...there's also loads of osprey in the area so that helps give them cover too..

  • @adamhl09
    @adamhl09 3 роки тому +1

    The dye kills the algae. They do it a lot in carp lakes.

  • @trevorluft8161

      christopher mckillen - yeah I’ve never seen this done before, but after the previous comment I looked it up, and yes to control algae and weed. Will just put on my polarised glasses on next time and won’t notice the difference!! 😃👍🏻

    What weight is your rod ??

    • @TheTroutFlyFisherman
      @TheTroutFlyFisherman  4 роки тому

      Hi Thomas, I was using my 7 weight, which was overkill but I like to be able to bully them in a bit when on catch and release. I had broke my 6 weight which is what I would go with normally, and just actually got a new 6 weight rod so eager to get out and try it! I put the details of the rods and lines I am using in the video description mainly, but might start referencing it in the actual videos. Cheers, Chris
