    Thanks for this Tim. I am a river dry fly fisherman trying to learn still water tactics. Just to sit and watch an indicator would bore me to tears. This is why I enjoyed your clip so much by showing us how to work each cast. I am on my local still water tomorrow and looking forward to applying your lessons

      Thanks and I'm glad you enjoyed it . Yes there is so much more to fly fishing than watching the bung all day . I'm not adverse to it as it can be very effective at times and also a use full tool for beginners but there is much much more to fly fishing .. Thanks for watching .

    I watched this this morning and went off to my local syndicate small water. Never had any confidence with this method .... BUT ... this gave me that confidence AND .... got my bag of 6 fish all by seeing line move - one of them was a 4lb overwintered rainbow. BRILLIANT channel!

      @@timjoyceflyfishing-essex6769 Managed a couple of hours off the bank the other day - managed to find a shield where some bigger fish were holding. Had 4 in total but 2 of them were over 5lbs...absolutely fantastic sport. The only thing that slowed me down was having to re-tie leaders as they took the droppers which ended up with a proper birds nest. Definitely a price worth paying..

    Tim! I misunderstood the title!!! LOL I thought you were fishing buzzers made out of the electronic antistatic bags, which is a thing here, so I didn't watch it. Then yesterday I thought well, that was dumb so I watched and enjoyed it very much. When my eyes were good I used a grease line method, no strike indicator. Now it is an indicator of a vertical presentation six inches off the bottom, straight over the side of the boat. In British Columbia we can only use one fly.

    • @timjoyceflyfishing-essex6769
      @timjoyceflyfishing-essex6769  Рік тому +1

      The true washing line is a floater with two buoyant flies point and top dropper and a couple of nymphs in between . This set up with a single buoyant fly and nymphs can be fished on any line but its most effective and best controlled using a floating line or a sink tip / midge tip line .

    • @timjoyceflyfishing-essex6769
      @timjoyceflyfishing-essex6769  3 роки тому +2

      Exactly as you see .. you just have to take the slack up in-between the draws .. careful not to move the buzzers ... the line from the rod tip to the water should hand dead vertical ... any kind of angle there as you pick up the slack means you are moving the line to quick .. takes practice but its worth it . Thanks for watching

    • @timjoyceflyfishing-essex6769
      @timjoyceflyfishing-essex6769  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks for watching .. lighter rods have their limits . I am cast 4 heavy flies on a flat calm , I need to ensure turnover anything under a 7wt would struggle , also because I am catching and releasing I want to land the fish as quick as possible so as not to tire or over stress which ensures a quick healthy release . Using lighter rods means over playing fish and can lead to recovery problems . Im glad you enjoyed the vid .

    • @timjoyceflyfishing-essex6769
      @timjoyceflyfishing-essex6769  3 роки тому

      yes .. its not moving the flies at all . In a flat calm the line continues to move towards you so its just to take up the slack no movement of flies . When there is a nice breeze and the boat is moving you need to figure of eight at the exact pace of the boat so as to take in the slack line between draws but not to move the buzzers ... this is the real art of it !

    • @timjoyceflyfishing-essex6769
      @timjoyceflyfishing-essex6769  9 місяців тому

      Pull them off the food ! When fish are on small stuff like tiny buzzer or daphnia its pointless trying to imitate . Instead turn their heads give them something to distract them , this is when boobies and Fabs really come into their own , even a big dry if the fish are high . Blobs and FABs were designed to distract fish from daphnia feeding . Something bright with loads of fuss or noise pulled past them or a great big dry like a sugar cube emerger in a size 10 or 8 .. they just cant resist the opportunity of such a big meal.

    If you are targeting one fish then why 4 hooks? I think you need to focus on more skill in order to present the fly to the fish. Instead of hoping for the fish to take one out of 4 hooks.🤔

    • @timjoyceflyfishing-essex6769
      @timjoyceflyfishing-essex6769  3 роки тому

      Because the single most important factor in fly fishing is finding the depth of the fish , by fishing a team I'm not targeting a single fish with 4 flies instead I'm fishing smart and targeting 4 different depths at one time ..... Imagine if you had 4 troll holes on the go at once ? ....

    • @springteen3743
      @springteen3743 3 роки тому

      @@timjoyceflyfishing-essex6769if you smart you wouldn’t be using 4 hooks and wait for hope on pure blind fishing. A skill fisherman will challenge himself and target one fish one rod one hook one fly one cast. Kind like a sniper. That’s the beauty of fly fishing. 🥋
